Immortal Vanguard Live!

Immortal Vanguard Expansion Launch!

There are over 100 new cards dropping in with our newest expansion – Immortal Vanguard!

We're also introducing six new Generals to the mix, something we haven't done since the release of Duelyst!

With our expansion, we're also creating a brand new mechanic (Build) as well as shiny new Mechs.

Since this might be a lot to take in all at once, take some time to read some helpful articles about each feature.

New Generals | Build Mechanic | Mech Update

We also have a small but special event for the next two weeks - the first time you log in you'll receive three Immortal Vanguard Orbs.

This one-time log-in event will award you with a gift crate and is available until November 28th, so pick up your orbs by then!

New Emotes and Profile Icons!

With this patch, we're also supporting the newest generation of Generals with their own emotes and profile icons!

Pick your favorites out of the armory and express yourself on the battlefield.

New Game Feature - Transformation Reference

Playing against Magmar and have no idea what that egg will hatch into? Having trouble trying to remember all the new Build minions coming with the expansion?

Have no fear, it's time to discover a new feature here, meet the new Transformation Reference tech!

This new tech will allow you to hover over Buildings and Eggs to see what cards they'll transform into.

Collection Set Update

We have a rather large announcement we want to make. With the inclusion of Immortal Vanguard, we're now over 800 cards! As exciting as that milestone is, we have a little maintenance we would like to do to polish the overall Duelyst experience. We have a lot to cover, so please find a comfy spot and take some time to read this article.

Build Mechanic Update

If you had read the article upon when it first released, we had mentioned the following

"In the case that a Build structure is returned to the action bar, the owner will receive a copy of the original minion - not a 0/10 Structure. This means you can play your minion again and start the Build process from the beginning."

We have since updated that mechanic - if a Build Structure is returned to the action bar, the owner will now receive a copy of the 0/10 Build Structure instead.

To accommodate these changes, Buildings will now match their minion's Mana Cost (as such, will no longer default to 9 mana), allowing you to play the Building again for its original cost, and the structure will eventually build into the specified minion.

Diamond Store Changes

We have another touch up on the Diamond system for all you Duelyst enthusiasts.

As many of you have mentioned, Diamond purchases simply don't match the orb bundles found in the armory.

We highly appreciate and value everyone's feedback on the virtual currency system, so we're back at it again with another update!

This new system was made to help alleviate those awkward purchasing concerns while also lowering the pricepoint you would invest in Duelyst.

The new 1000 Diamond bundle exists to help bridge the gap between orb bundles, while still allowing players to purchase their keys and special one-time offers in the armory such as Division Bundles or the 10 Orb Launch Offer.

With these changes, we've also started the bonus Diamond earlier (and getting higher) allowing you to get more out of your Diamond purchases. Combined with our periodic monthly sales, you'll be getting more Duelyst content for cheaper!

Core Set and Rotation Changes

The number of cards in your collection is getting big!

Hey Duelyst fans! We have a rather large announcement we want to make. With the inclusion of Immortal Vanguard, we're now over 800 cards! As exciting as that milestone is, we have a little maintenance we would like to do to polish the overall Duelyst experience. We have a lot to cover, so find a comfy spot to sit and get ready for all the updates coming soon!

Merging Small Expansions

In the following patch, we are merging the two existing small expansions (Rise of the Bloodbound and Ancient Bonds) into one larger, craftable expansion named Bloodbound Ancients. Cards from these sets will now be craftable/disenchantable, and can be obtained from Ancient Orbs - randomized Spirit Orbs that contain cards from both of these sets.

Any cards you already own that were previously in the “small set” format will be converted automatically into the new Bloodbound Ancients version of that card (or a Core Set card if moved to the Core Set, more on this further below!) and become craftable/disenchantable. Any Spirit Orbs from either of the small sets that you happen to have in your inventory will be refunded for 300 gold each.

Introducing Set Rotation

Starting in 2018, we are going to introduce expansion rotations into Duelyst’s standard ranked ladder play mode. This means that Core Set cards and the most recent expansion sets at any given time will be playable in this game mode. This does not mean the cards you have collected from older expansions are no longer valid - your full collection of cards will always be playable in other game modes including Friendly Matches, Boss Battles, and other game modes we will be introducing in the future (more news on that coming soon!).

There are a number of reasons we are introducing set rotation to Duelyst’s standard ranked ladder format. As we continue to create new exciting cards for everyone to experiment with, the total number of cards continues to grow.
For competitive players it can be impossible to know what to play around. Meanwhile, for newer players it is a daunting task to try to learn the basics of the game while also trying to keep track of an overwhelming number of cards.
By limiting the card pool and periodically changing which cards are available, our aim is to ensure that matches in this format continue to remain fresh, interesting, and varied, while also keeping it accessible to everyone - new, old, and returning players.

The following is some clarifications on how set rotations will work in Duelyst:

As a reminder note, rotations only occur once a year and will occur at the same time the first expansion of the year is released. This means that all cards currently in Duelyst will remain legal to play on the standard ranked ladder until the first expansion in 2018 is released.

Core Set Cleanup

Given that the Core Set will not rotate out of the standard ranked ladder format, we are making some tweaks to clean up the Core Set. We have the full list of cards added, removed and changed further below.

So why are we making these changes? We want to establish the Core Set as the proper foundation and introduction to Duelyst for new players, as well as the base set upon which all expansions are built. We've added in some of the iconic class cards that help define the identities of factions and some of Duelyst's core archetypes. We're also removing some of the niche cards in the Core Set - while they're still great cards, they aren't fundamental foundation cards and should not belong in our Core. Finally, we've changed a few existing cards with an eye to the future, knowing that the Core Set should remain relatively stable going forward.

A couple of quick notes on the Core Set changes:

Here is the full list of cards being added to and removed from the Core Set:

LYONAR KINGDOMS

SONGHAI EMPIRE

VETRUVIAN IMPERIUM

ABYSSIAN HOST

MAGMAR ASPECTS

VANAR KINDRED

NEUTRAL

Cards that are removed from the Core Set listed above will no longer appear in any Spirit Orbs, but can still be crafted and disenchanted from the collection screen.

Core Set Card Changes

We are also making changes to some Core Set cards. These changes are not being made specifically to change the current metagame, but rather to adjust the Core Set moving forward as a base set for Duelyst, as well as shaping it to be the set which future expansions are built upon.

For roughly one week after these changes, Spectral Revenant, Frostburn, and Chassis of MECHAZ0R will be disenchantable for full spirit value.

Other Core Set Changes

Building MECHAZ0R: You can now build multiple MECHAZ0RS in the same game. After your MECHAZ0R build progress reaches 100%, subsequent cards that build MECHAZ0R will contribute to the progress of another MECHAZ0R.

Warmasters: We are removing the Warmaster tribe from the game. Minions that previously had the Warmaster tag will now be regular minions.

Grandmaster Zendo: As Grandmaster Zendo has now become part of the Core Set, we are changing its card text to be more clear for new players. Zendo's ability will now read "The enemy General moves and attacks automatically." The card will function exactly the same, but it will no longer reference Battle Pets in its text.

We are excited to announce these changes after releasing so many sets. We're eagerly looking forward to the great things this will provide for Duelyst such as rich expansions and refreshing new gameplay every year. We look forward to what the future has in store and continuing to build the best game we can with our players!

Immortal Vanguard - Mech Update

Let's talk about Mechs

At this point, you guys should have seen all the robotic Build minions and are probably wondering "with all this war tech, where are the Mechs?"

Well, this week we'll be focusing on the brand new Mechs coming out with Immortal Vanguard!

Before we dive into the spoilers, we have a few Mech changes we'd like to make with the expansion - including changes to MECHAZ0R itself, and a change to how the process of completing MECHAZ0R works in the game.

These changes will allow us to better integrate Mechs into Duelyst, and allow us to create new exciting cards to enhance your Mech arsenal!

MECHAZ0R Updates

Chassis will be changed to the following:

The big Mech itself (MECHAZ0R) is going through several changes:

Have you ever felt weird playing more Mech cards after they've destroyed your MECHAZ0R?

Another change we're doing is allowing you deploy multiple MECHAZ0Rs!

After your MECHAZ0R build progress reaches 100%, subsequent cards that build MECHAZ0R will contribute to the process of another MECHAZ0R.

Now every time you hit 100% build progress, a new MECHAZ0R is ready to hit the battlefield!

New Immortal Vanguard Build Mechanic

New Mechanic coming with Immortal Vanguard

Hey Duelyst fans! We have a new mechanic coming with the next expansion: Build.

Build is a keyword that will appear on minions followed by a number, for example - Build: (2)

When you summon a minion with the Build keyword, it comes into play as a 0/10 Structure.

At the beginning of your turn, your minion's build counter decrements by one: this occurs every turn until the build counter reaches zero.

Once the build counter reaches zero, the Structure will transform into the minion you played from your action bar!

At this point, the minion is fully active and can begin to move and attack.

Learn more about Build

As you may have noticed, there are different colors for Build Structures.

In fact, every faction will sport its own unique color scheme for their Build minions!

But wait, there's still more to learn!

While a minion is "Building," you cannot dispel the fact that it is building and will transform at the end of its build countdown.

This means that you can treat buildings as regular Structures - you can target them with spells, heal them, damage them, transform them, destroy them, etc.

They will however eventually transform into their final form if not destroyed or removed (this includes transform effects).

In the case that a Build structure is returned to the action bar, the owner will receive a copy of the original minion - not a 0/10 Structure. This means you can play your minion again and start the Build process from the beginning.

Any buffs that are applied to a Build minion while the card is in your action bar will apply to the final/transformed version after it is done Building.

And finally, a "Building" is considered a token, so it is not a viable target for revive effects (you can, however, revive the final product).

Now that you've learned about how Build works, let's get ready for some Build spoilers coming out this week!

NEW EXPANSION - IMMORTAL VANGUARD

We're excited to announce the new expansion: Immortal Vanguard.

This will be a large set due to release mid-November with new game mechanics and over 100 cards. As always, we'll be doing a spoiler season leading up to expansion release, so get ready for daily spoilers every weekday!

YOUR EYES DO NOT DECEIVE YOU, WITNESS THE NEXT GENERATION OF GENERALS

We're also extremely happy to introduce the first new Generals to the game since launch! Coming in fresh to the battlefield are six new Faction Generals, each with their own unique Bloodbound spells. We have a small preview of them now, with more news about them to come in the future!

    Duelyst Patch 1.86

Duelyst Patch 1.86 is expected to deploy June 22nd around 11AM Pacific Time

    Card Changes

Circulus – Health decreased from 3 to 1.

Circulus doubles down on Arcanysts’ strength of creating additional cards, in addition to being an early-turn play to contest mana tiles. By decreasing Circulus’ Health to 1, we’ve made playing Circulus more of a risk, and players will have more options to answer it on an undeveloped board. This change will weaken the Arcanyst Vanar deck a bit in short-term, and also impact its eventual strength alongside our upcoming expansion.

    Stun – Now dispellable.

Stun has always been a bit of an odd mechanic in action. We’ve seen numerous new players expect stun to be dispellable – either because of their previous digital card game experience, or because other buffs and effects in Duelyst are dispellable. It wasn’t as much of an issue when Stun effects were rarely used, but as we’ve added more stuns to the game, it’s time to clean it up! Now that stun is dispellable it’ll behave in the same way as other buffs and debuffs in Duelyst, and you’ll find some situations where dispelling a minion or your General is exactly the play you needed.

    New Wave of Bosses!

We’d like to take a moment and thank the community for all their enthusiasm and feedback to our last wave of Bosses.

These new challengers have more AI improvements ready to test your skills (or memes) on the battlefield.

    Collection Updates

Coming to a collection page near you, we’ve now included a deck importer/exporter!

This new feature lets you save and share your decklists with your friends with the touch of a button.

You can find this new tool at the bottom right of your deck-building screen.

In addition to this, we’ve also included the ability to filter decks before queuing into battle.

You can search by Faction, Color tag, or both!
