Hello Everyone! We just put Hotfix #26 live which mainly focuses on Life improvements and improvements to Troll AI and pathfinding.

Features


Matchmaker region setting
Added an info panel about the ping times to different server regions, as well as a setting to change region from Auto to specific.
Panel has to be enabled in the game options menu.

Troll Behavior Rework
Improvement to how Trolls understand the map and how they use Mineshafts.
Improvement to how Trolls select targets.
Troll waves are less predictable.

Improvements
Improved lighting and shadows.
Different Ambience SFX for the different maps.
New SFX for when Forges and Ore Sorters are stuck.
Mine-block "box select" and "double right-click" will now un-mark blocks if the initial block selected was marked already.
Box select is now consistently marking or un-marking all blocks.

Bug fixes


Fixed an old network syncing bug likely being the cause for a number of desyncs in the past.
Fixed AI warriors squads getting stuck in a corner of the map. (potentially)
Fixed AI miner’s sorter configuration issues
Fixed and improved building grid.
Fixed double ping shown on host client.
Fixed loading button appearing on multiplayer modes.
Fixed empty load panel not having placeholder texts.
Fixed unit queue progress bar after loading save file.

Known issues


Local-hosting might not work with certain VPNs.
Skirmish will not work immediately after playing one of the tutorials. Game restart is required.
Sounds for Thane levelups plays twice.
Allowed building placement positions are inconsistent with fow restrictions indicated on the building grid.
Chat sometimes locks up. ```

Local hosting



Premade games will now be hosted by the party leaders.
This can provide a better experience for players in the same country.
It's recommended that players meeting the recommended system requirements host the games.
(Friendpass is still using hosted servers for the time being).

Save and Load (Singleplayer)



New save game functionality that can be used in Singleplayer games for the Sandbox and Survival game modes.
Saved games can be loaded in the main menu.
(Note: Save files may become incompatible with later game updates).

AI Upgrade



AI now responds better to attacks both in OW and UW.
AI on medium and hard gets increased food income from farming.
AI on offense will now go through mineshafts after killing all enemy structures in that level.
Fixed woodcutting Builders going idle when no trees were found nearby.
Fixed a couple of issues with buildings not being rebuilt.
Reworked difficulties and added a hard difficulty.
Reworked the passive resource income for the miner AI for each difficulty.

Bug fixes



Fixed some issues with the map layout on Cliffside (could build on lava etc.).
Fixed an issue where new units sometimes spawned inside neighbor buildings.
Fixed an issue with a spawn waypoint being visually stuck after deleting a building.
Building Grid clips through building ghosts from certain angles.

Local-hosting might not work with certain VPNs.
AI warriors sometimes get stuck at the wrong level.
Sounds for Thane level-ups plays twice.
Building Grid might turn lava/water invisible from certain camera angles.

Features


New Building Grid Overlay

Grid overlay that displays the possible building locations while placing buildings.
Also indicates blocked areas and areas with lacking visual information due to the fog-of-war.
(Grid can be disabled in the settings menu)


New Mineblock Selection Modes:

Paint select: Hold right-click to continuously mark blocks while moving the cursor.
NOTE: The first block determines if painting will mark or un-mark.
Box select: Hold Ctrl + right-click to box-select blocks to be toggled.
Resource select: Double right-click a block marks it and connected blocks of the same type.

Thane Lobby Animations

Added some new and more lively animations to the thane selection screen.
Raven is no longer hiding behind his shield among others)

New sounds for Nubbs actions.
New voice lines for thane selection screen.


Bug fixes

- Fixed Reina's Sprint ability to match description.
- Fixed Raven's Rallying Cry ability description missing on thane selection screen.
- Fixed an issue where Reina and Alban would not being able to build Town Hall after researching Home Sweet Home.
- Fixed supply queue count showing negative numbers for each thane in the team.
- Fixed command queuing for miner units performing mining/depositing to not depend on inventory.
- Fixed VFX for mine blocks being destroyed.
- Fixed some machinery sounds.

Thane Level-up Update

Added a new panel/menu for choosing levels, as well as acting as a tech tree for your individual Thane.
Instant Level-up completion upon choosing an upgrade.

Quar is now a player-individual resource

Each player now has their own separate Quar amounts.
Each player now gains Quar for themselves only.
See Balance-changes for changes impacting individual Quar gain.

Thane leveling AI

AI opponents in Skirmish now upgrade their Thanes upon reaching the required Quar.

AI Squads

Unified behavior for warrior units, now performing various actions in groups.
Improved decision-making for various tasks, based on the strength of the squad.


Rudimentary use of the Underworld.
Warning: AI Warriors have not yet learned how a good underworld defense looks, we suggest investing in Towers.

New Fog of War

Reworked the Fog of War, now semi-transparent, allowing players to see underlying terrain/Mineshafts.
Observing enemy buildings will let them remain visible but greyed out when losing vision.
Improves GPU performance.

Range indicators on towers and iron gunners

Added a visual range indication to help determine your attack range.
