As the first game of Wildfire Studio, Eastern Exorcist has been produced and polished for almost 4 years. Thanks to our players who have supported us along the way, who gave us a lot of valuable suggestions during the early access version of the game, so that we can take the game further.

【Eastern Exorcist · Devlog】 Game Art
Hey fellow exorcist!
As the official launch date is approaching, we would love to share more about the game's development process with you, so that we could review the journey we've traveled this year, together with our old friends who have been following us, and at the same time introducing the world of 'Eastern Exorcist' to our new players!
Today's development story is told by the art team behind the game.
The art of Eastern Exorcist has always been one of the highlights of the game. which makes our art teammates breathed a sigh of relief, in fact, at the beginning of the development, we weren't sure which style to go with; cartoon or realistic, American manga or Japanese manga. Everything feels 'good', but at the same time, everything is not 'good' enough.
So we went through researches on many indie game titles, and we really feel the importance of a game's art style. It must be unique, and in line with the game's own worldview and background,
At the end, we decided to try out something with Chinese watercolor painting.(ง •_•)ง
In the initial stage, we think of the full picture of all the art performances with the expression of Chinese painting, here comes the birth of our first ever picture.
The traditional Chinese painting could really show the mountains and clouds, in a moody way by using haloing. We decided to use ink haloing to make a distant scene, so that the picture becomes stronger in space and also provides a special mood.
The flowers, birds, insects, fish and plants are particularly depicted in Chinese painting. For the flowers and plants in the focal layer, we refer to the common shapes in Chinese painting, fully hand-painted, hoping to ensure that the shapes have enough flavor of Chinese painting, while striving to make the sense of volume stronger and also strengthen the richness of colors.
We hope to make the whole picture through this method, showcasing both the traditional painting feel and modern painting's realistic look, with the general direction, we began the second concept design:
After the concept of the map came out, the team agreed that the effect is 'not bad', so we began to do a few other levels following this style.
Then, we referred to some of the popular artists for Chinese painting, especially for painting plants, to finely draw out the plantation inside the scene.
Finally, all materials will be imported into the 3D scene in accordance with the distance of the view, devided into far, medium, and near.
Our vision is to use the traditional hand-painted Chinese ink painting style together with a more modern technique, in combination to create a variety of different scenery and immersion in the world of Eastern Exorcist, while enjoying the game itself, players could also experience the unique charm of the Oriental ink.

【Eastern Exorcist · Devlog】 Half-Fox female character - Xiahou Xue

How do you like our new trailer? Excited to introduce our new playable character, Xiahou Xue, who is a Half-Fox female character, with a whole new story and new skills!
This character will be unlocked together with the game's 1.0 version, (on July 8)
Living in Mingzhou City, a girl of half-demon descent, in order to save her loved ones, she did not hesitate to commit dangers and fight against powerful enemies with her own strength and embarked on an adventure.....
At the initial stage of the project, in order to enrich the experience and different tastes of the players. We have determined the plan for the male and female double protagonists, unfortunately, there was a delay in development, our EA version only discloses the content of the male protagonist. But actually, the male and female double protagonists would make up to be the full version of the game. (ง •_•)ง。
In-game character development has always been a core focus within our team. We very much hope that through the accumulation of experience and continuous attempts to complete the shaping of each role, we will present to everyone the oriental magical world we want to show. I also sincerely hope that everyone can enjoy the story of the Eastern Exocist series.

When constructing the stories of the two characters, we hope to take our players to try out two different experiences. The half-demon heroine would be more lively and young (in age), Compared with the much heavier story of the male character, we hope that the heroine can bring you a playful and more relaxed plot and experience.
Additionally, the female protagonist's operating game feel is slightly different from that of the male protagonist. The use of heavy weapons will slightly slow down the output, but there will be enhancements in the air and attack power. It can be said that each has its own advantages and disadvantages. In terms of skills, the heroine will have a set of her own brand-new skills, but there will also be similar skills as our male character, we will also introduce to you later.

We just added a polished English translation to the game. Additionally, we are pleased to announce that Eastern Exorcist supports Turkish now! (Thank you yusuf!)
Moreover, we upgraded the DEMO version with the latest functions.
This update takes a bit long time since we are still focusing on the new contents, which would be able to share more details really soon:)
Functionality and Gameplay Improvements:
[Strenuous Training] The Exorcism Skills are all unlocked in Strenuous Training, also the HP of certain monsters in the Training is slightly raised.
Optimized certain attack frame determination.
[Attack Pattern] Changed Optimized the attack actions of certain Bosses.
Bug Fixes:
[Charged Attack] Completely fixed the activation triggers of starting the Charged Attack process.
[Misplacement] Fixed the issue that characters fall to the underground when casting Waterdragon Chant.

Hello Exorcists,
The main aim of this update is to improve the game experience and fix bugs. The controls will respond better now, and you can stop the use of Charged Attack at any time. Please refer to the changelog below for more details.
Thank you all in the community for your feedback and support. We will continue to monitor responses in the community and work to optimize your gameplay experience. We plan to focus on optimizing skills and boss battles in future updates, so please stay tuned!
Functionality Improvements:
[Controls] We’ve changed the controller settings to try to solve the occasional controller signal error.
[Key Settings] We’ve added a shortcut key for the map.
[Screen Settings] We’ve added a vertical sync selection.
[Reset] This function now requires a long press to confirm the action and complete it. This will help to avoid triggering it by accident.
[HUD] Adjustments were made to the lower right corner of the display showing the increase and decrease in Power points to make the changes more visible.
[Charged Attack] Effect has been optimised.
[Exclamation Point Warning] Prompts show more dynamically now, based on actual attack strength and TGH difference.
Bug Fixes:
Fixed a bug where the player’s strike resulted in an insta-kill of all enemies under certain circumstances.
Fixed the button prompt error that shows up when opening the mini-map with PS4 controllers which are wired.
We’ve made changes to try to fix the problem of Colonel Yin dropping into the ground in the boss battle.
Fixed the issue where visibility of hints in Challenges were blocked due to the change to New Game+.
Corrected some misspellings.
Fixed a bug where going into a tutorial stage and exiting quickly, then clearing a Challenge stage would return your character back to Wuli Lake.
Game Experience Adjustments:
[Charged Attack] We’ve improved the activation triggers to solve the problem of accidentally starting the Charged Attack process while pressing other controls.
[Charged Attack] The Charged Attack can be cancelled at any time by using Break, Dodge or Dash.
[When attacked] You can now cancel out the post-attack action by tilting slightly upwards using Dodge and Dash.
[New Game+ Experience] The Power of enemies will increase significantly with each replay.
[New Game+ Experience] The enemy stats will be adjusted upon replay. Stats will increase significantly.
[Dark Shadow Spell] Mana acquisition efficiency has been adjusted.
[Dark Shadow Spell] Adjusted part of the triggering of shadow attacks, and improved the problem where shadows were being limited by terrain when attacking.
