Echo Lake: Astronomer (1.2) - The Mementos Upgrade
Echo Lake has been updated to version 1.2.0.
The update will be applied the next time you start Steam.
Our second experimental patch - which we're calling The Mementos Upgrade - adds story pickups and concludes recent puzzle rework. The main changes are:
Photographs have been scattered throughout the world and introduce a character
Tape recordings are found at the end of each level and hint at strange events
Lens pickups are now tied to upgrades in puzzle creation abilities
Second pass of full puzzle progression is ready-for-feedback
Save data format has been updated (data has been wiped)
Known issues:
No way to review your collections just yet
We will be expanding the upgrade over the coming weeks including:
Improvements to existing pickups (artwork and audio)
The addition of a simple inventory screen
Additional puzzle tweaks/fixes
Other changes:
Closed off some redundant branching paths in various levels
Replaced placeholder rock pickups from v1 progression
Simplified and reduced list of puzzle hints
Various puzzle tweaks/fixes as required
Restyled level title screens
We're very excited about this update as it starts to tease our full game story: something we've been very tight-lipped about so far.
Since we've changed alot of puzzle/pickup IDs, we've had to update the save data version. We'll aim to keep this to a minimum and give you advanced warning in future. For now, we're very keen to hear your thoughts on the v2 puzzle progression and story-so-far. We'll look into the possibility of carrying data forward in future and the addition of some progression shortcuts.
If you encounter any issues or would like to provide feedback/suggestions, join us in the forums.

PS. We'd like to thank Anairis Quinones who recorded a voiceover for one of our secret tapes.

Expanded manta gameplay so they're more prevalent in the final chapter
Allow creation and redirection of white mantas (for consistency)
Tweaked various puzzles in last chapter based on new abilities
We're currently in the middle of reworking the full puzzle progression; please bear with us as we push on with balancing, fixes and improvements.
If you encounter any issues with the latest update please let us know. Your savegame should not be affected: if it is, please bug this in the forum.
