Continuing with The Creation Upgrade, this patch applies additional changes:


  • Revised numerous puzzles in Squid Stream and Manta Landing levels (re: creations)
  • Fixed some null pointer issues which could have led to undesirable puzzle states
  • New puzzle hint added regarding creation choice
  • Minor revisions to About screen text

  • Orange jellyfish radii and squid ink can now disarm spikey [hazard] fish

  • Player can now control the magnetism (+/-) of white puffers
  • Player can now control the portal placement of white octopii
  • Player can now control the ink spray direction of white squids
  • Revised wording of final tutorial in Starfish Galaxy (inc. associated hint)
  • Some new sound effects - fleetfin destroyed, zone entry/exit and lens zoom in/out
  • Replaced spikey-destroyed sound effect to be shorter/snappier


Creation choice is now unlocked in all chapters but we'll be reworking the puzzles shortly; please bear with us as we push on with balancing, fixes and improvements.

Continuing with The Creation Upgrade, this patch applies additional changes:


  • Player can now control the orbit direction of White Eels (level 4 only for now)
  • Revised selected Electric Orbit puzzles to make better use of new creation mechanics
  • Fixed issue where manta would miss target in final level (caused by last weeks update)
  • Fixed issue where jellyfish would keep holding their charge when not desired


Creation choice is disabled in levels 5-8 as we continue to roll out the new gameplay. Please bear with us as we push on with balancing, fixes and improvements.

Echo Lake has been updated to version 1.1.1.

Continuing with The Creation Upgrade, this patch applies additional changes:


  • Player can now control the launch direction of White Fleetfins (level 3 only for now)
  • Removed superfluous puzzles from Jellyfish Nebula as part of ongoing progression rework
  • Revised Jellyfish and Fleetfin level puzzles to make better use of new creation mechanics
  • Spikey hazards have been brought forward by 1 level (introduced alongside Blue Jellyfish)


Creation choice is disabled in levels 4-8 as we continue to roll out the new gameplay. Please bear with us as we push on with balancing, fixes and improvements.

We'll send out a call-for-feedback once we're happy with the difficulty and progression rework. In the meantime, you can try levels 1-3 to get a taster of where we're headed and let us know what you think.

Echo Lake: Astronomer (1.1) - The Creation Upgrade

Echo Lake has been updated to version 1.1.0.

The update will be applied the next time you start Steam.

Our first experimental patch - which we're calling The Creation Upgrade - expands the puzzle gameplay by allowing you to choose your own creations:


  • New HUD readout (bottom-right) appears when you have the ability to make a choice
  • Creation zones are no longer auto-filled with the required creation on interaction
  • Mousewheel or Number Keys can be used to cycle creation type before placement
  • Creations are unlocked as you proceed through the game - 1 per level


Known issues:


  • Creation choice disabled in some puzzles (for now) to prevent bad states
  • Can't replace/overwrite creations just yet
  • HUD feedback/readouts are placeholder


We will be expanding the puzzle gameplay further over the coming weeks including:


  1. The ability to control the spawn direction of your creations
  2. The addition of new hazards to impose new constraints on the puzzles
  3. Revised puzzles and layouts to take advantage of new features


Other changes:


  • Revised 4th puzzle in Starfish Galaxy to include blue starfish teaser
  • Removed lens pickup in Starfish Galaxy (for now) as we evolve the creation gameplay
  • Revised some puzzles in Jellyfish Nebula to make better use of creation mechanics

Echo Lake: Astronomer Alpha - Patch 1.0.5

Echo Lake has been updated to version 1.0.5.

The update will be applied the next time you start Steam.

Concluding our 1st puzzle layout pass, this patch fixes some puzzle layout issues observed in the Squid Stream and Manta Landing levels. We've made various other changes too...

Specific puzzle/layout fixes:

  • Revised penultimate puzzle in Jellyfish Nebula to prevent undesirable sketch state
  • Fixed issues where friend fish could lag behind in Jellyfish Nebula & Squid Stream levels
  • Fixed issues where friend fish could fail to proceed in Fleetfin Trail & Octopus Vortex levels


Some general fixes:

  • Fixed issue where white fleetfins could lose their charge when not desired
  • Fixed issue where white jellyfish, eels and octopii would hold their charge when not required


New gameplay:

  • Fleetfins can now disarm spikey [hazard] fish (new animation/SFX added)
  • Squid can now lose their charge - allows for some reversals
