December 5th marked a new anniversary of our early access: it has now been 2 years since we launched our first chapter in 2018. The game has seen an impressive evolution since then with 3 chapters in its first year, and 3 more this year.
However, the content was not the only axis of improvement this year, indeed this year was also illustrated by the passage of the game to the beta phase! We have also started to anticipate the final release of the game with features like the Modifiers that arrived with Chapter VI.
We still have work to do for 2021 but nothing is impossible. For the coming year we have a chapter much bigger than any currently available, as well as the final release!
Today this phase of Early Access is useful as it allows us to have your feedback to create thanks to you a JRPG that will be remembered! We also took the opportunity to give you our own feedback through a video presented by three members of our team:
This chapter brought a lot of novelty to the gameplay with a new tutorial, a plot as captivating as it is moving. For those who had started playing in the first year of early access, this chapter also taught you a bit more about the source of Daryon and Selene's quest to save their mother.
After encountering an unexpected ally, the team had to face Corrosion by crossing a clockwork field as part of their quest to save Heryon. This chapter brought a new playable character, at least if you managed to get to the end of its dungeon!
Although this is not a full chapter we have worked hard to improve the game from the introduction to the last available chapters. This summer was an important step for Edge Of Eternity since we reworked many systems including the Battle Cam, Dynamic Events and even the Crafting System. We've also redraw all the expressions and animations in cutscenes since the beginning of the game!
Last chapter to date, he was able to bring many optimizations in the cities but also in the open world! A huge part of the story was unlocked at the end of the content of the previous chapter of course but also in the previous chapters since the Etheral Being that you encountered in the introduction was added to chapters 1, 2 and 5!

Coming in 2021
If we plan the final release of the game for Spring 2021 we still have a lot of work, including the upcoming chapter, the final boss, but also other optimizations to allow you to run the game to its full potential. However, we can already tell you that DLSS will arrive in a few weeks!
Announced in September, the Chapter "0.5" is coming very soon to allow you to explore the Open World within the first hour of play! You can already test it out by enabling the "Chapter 0.5" option on Experimental Features but as it's experimental some features might not work [TEST AT YOUR OWN RISK], don't hesitate to join our Discord for support if you are stuck!

Hotfix Patch
Bugfixes and adjustments:
Fixed a bug that was making the battle UI flicker during battles using a controller
Nerfed Oboros Selene boss
Fixed a possible softlock during the crystal and equipment tutorials when opening and closing the menu very fast
Moved some chests that was unreachable in Chapter VI
Improved the display of a few UI in 21:9 and 32:9 ratios
Fixed a bug where pressing the back button could close the whole UI instead of just getting back
Fixed an issue where the water in the Oboros tower scene could be black and make the postprocessings leak
Added retroactive unlock for special attacks
Added variscitium in loot pool of Ores from Chapter IV and Chapter VI
Fixed a bug where DLSS could make damage UI and aura texts jitter
Added a minimap and a reveal system in the lighthouse

Chapter VI: The God's Herald
Chapter VI is finally here with a new playable character, gorgeous environments and major performance improvements. We are also bringing a rework of the great dungeon: the Lighthouse from Solna Plains. This chapter is the last one before release!

New playable character available
An unexpected character will join your team during this chapter, bringing the number of members on your team to 5. She will be useful but it is especially thanks to her atypical gameplay that she may surprise you!
Special Attacks
Enjoy the power of three new Special Attacks coming this chapter:
Daryon (unlocked when fighting the Conclave at Olphara Path);
Ysoris (unlocked when fighting Oboros with Selene);
Fallon (unlocked immediately after unlocking Fallon).
Note that if you already completed the part of the story that was unlocking the special attack it won’t be unlocked.
Major performance improvements
We vastly improved CPU usage throughout the game, especially in cities and where the framerate had major CPU dips, there are also a lot of smaller GPU optimizations. We also reduced memory usage of the game and fixed multiple micro stuttering sources.

Difficulty System Rebalance
The difficulty system has been rebalanced thanks to your feedback and should now be more progressive and have a better feel. We are still working on some bosses’ balancing, all your feedback are welcome, don’t hesitate to join our Discord!
Lighthouse Improvements
The lighthouse has a first rework pass with fixes to the freezes and infinite loading issues. Floors upper than 50 are also now available, you can select them thanks to the new floor selection menu when entering the dungeon.
Note: To unlock a floor you need to complete once the past 10 floors.
Modifiers System
We implemented a modifier system for lighthouse and on a long-term basis for the new game + option that we will add later at full release. On the lighthouse for example as you run deeper into the lighthouse there will be negative modifiers that will be added to the floors (increaseasing received fire damages, explosive effect on dying enemies, etc…), there is also lootable positive modifiers that can give you significant combat boost and/or items rewards; in the new game + negative modifiers will be added at each new run and you’ll be able to find positive ones through the game.
DLSS
We previously announced DLSS for this chapter, sadly due to unplanned events we need to delay it a bit. It will come in the next few weeks so stay tuned! #RTXON

Fixed a bug where patrolling monsters could get stuck
Fixed an issue with the weather system where the random would always use the sandstorm weather
Fixed a bug with inns scene where at a specific inn you could get stuck on the roof afterward

Chapter VI date
You've waited long enough, as promised: we have a date for the next chapter, The God's Herald!
We spent many weeks working on this chapter which presented many technical challenges since we incorporated new cutscenes at several points in the storyline of past chapters but also created a story announcing the events of the final chapter to come for next year.

Cities optimizations coming with Chapter VI
With the work produced on optimizing the game for consoles, Heryon will allow you to enjoy its best landscapes with much less latency or even better quality for those who did not have the performance to run the game in high quality.
With Chapter VI, we will bring numerous optimization in the open world, but also to cities with a much denser population than before but still less latency and more FPS!

Myrna Combat Skills VFX Rework

Chapter VI New Areas
Chapter VI is coming with new environments! After the capture of Daryon and the group by the Consort you will travel to 3 new areas that we will reveal to you in this article!
Spoiler Alert: Some of these location might spoil you a part of the story.
The Scorched Halcyon
North of Elysian Fields is The Scorched Halcyon desert. Sand as far as the eye can see, it is even hotter near the magma pits or the lava river. The monsters in this area fight in large groups and will not hesitate to attack you fiercely!
Refugee Camp
It's time to face the commander. After Daryon's desertion during the attack on the front lines and the many adventures that followed, Daryon will have to face his commander and his troops.
Varlorian Pass
Located between Elysian Fields and The Scorched Halcyon, this pass corned between the mountains is infested by slimes and remains of Archelite ships. It will also take you to the Gates of Gideon which you will discover later in this Chapter!
In this chapter you will rediscover well-known cities starting with Jagholm and Tyr Caelum in the thick of a war against an old enemy. There is also a fourth place you will discover by the end of this Chapter but we won't spoil you!

Chapter VI is coming!
We have good news for you! The Chapter VI: The God's Herald is on the way. Due to some late changes we are a bit behind schedule for this chapter, but it will be coming for the middle of December and we are sure you will love it! Take a look at what is coming this chapter:
New area: Desert A new chapter means a new area for you to explore. You will meet an old friend in this unique place - and the Consort is back!
DLSS 2.1 is coming to Edge Of Eternity You must have seen it on Social Networks: DLSS 2.1 is coming for this update! If you missed it here is said NVIDIA article. Currently under the last tests, you will get a small peek about DLSS effects in Edge Of Eternity regarding FPS. A gameplay video is coming soon!
New special attacks for Daryon and Ysoris If you already unlocked Selene's special attack you are going to love these new ones. Each character will have his/her special attack!
A new playable character is coming We are planning to add a new character to the team and guess what: you already met her if you finished the currently available content. Who do you think will join the team?
More cutscenes for chapters 1, 3 and 5 To enforce the story we will add more story peeks from earlier chapters featuring the Ethereal Being you faced in Chapter 0.
We will make a separate article for each of these new contents until the chapter release so keep an eye!
Some changes to our last roadmap announcement
In order to deliver the best version of the game for full release we made some changes to our plans: we are going to make chapter VII and VIII one very big chapter and release it for full game release in Spring 2021!
What does it mean for you? Nothing. We don't change anything on the final content available, we're not making any cut to the content we wanted to offer.
Why these changes? Consoles and side-content are the main reasons for this. As we reach the end of development of the game, we need to focus on optimizing the game for consoles and creating more side-content including the last one promised in the Kickstarter Campaign that isn't yet in the game: Nekaroo breeding!
About the new Intermediate Chapter We announced that we will release an intermediate chapter earlier but sadly due to these changes we have to delay it to Febuary, if you missed it here is an article about it!
We know that you may find the wait really long but this is our last step before the full release in Spring 2021!
Explore the cities under a new light as the streets fill with pumpkins, spiders, and other Halloween decorations. Watch out for the cemeteries that came out of the earth all around the world, from Herelsor plains to the Kalaadan Coast. Even monsters have risen up to the occasion and dressed themselves in their best rags.
And don’t forget to turn up the sound: a unique music for the occasion and special noises will darken your days in Heryon!
Special quests & rewards
During this time, you will be able to access a Halloween exclusive quest, and encounter a special dynamic event. Both will be rewarded with pumpkins you can use to unlock Halloween skins at the Herelsor temporary shop! Here is a quick overview of what you can get: a skin for your Nekaroo, a hat for Daryon & Selene, a spooky staff and a scary sword!

For those who already completed the event last year, we added new Halloween skin to later content from chapter 4 & 5 so you can always explore and use your previously collected pumpkins!
