December Update #2 - Night Combat

Hello again! This is a small update which adds the option to set nighttime. This is only available on some of the maps currently but will be added to the rest soon.



Additions:

- The option to turn night on / off on most levels.

- New Flashlight ability!

- Buildings and props that can set on fire.

December Update - 2 New Maps

Craggy Hills




Craggy Hills is a large map with a variety of different areas.

Sandy Valley (WIP)




Sandy Valley is still a work in progress but it's already one of the most fun maps to play. It features a beach running down the middle of two equally defended bases.

Other Updates



- Added a short cutscene to some of the maps with paratroopers landing when playing a Conquest Game Mode, the paratrooper's colour and insignia depend on the winning team.

- Added a camera animation to most of the maps for when the round is over (I plan to do this for all maps for when the round begins and when it is over)

- Added 2 more spawn points on Temple

- Lowered the water level on Highlands very slightly.

- Fixed a bug on Ravine which was causing the King of the Hill capture point not to appear.

- Much more map improvements!





November Update - Jet Packs and Map Update

Hello! There have been many small updates recently and I think it's time for a changelog thing!

Last week:

- New Jet Pack ability added!
- Landings has had some extra "cliff bits" added on the East section and a new spawn point right at the back in the middle.
- Ravine has been expanded and changed around a little bit.
- The Random Challenge button on the main menu now generates a better random challenge (no more 100 vs 25 matches)
- Abilities can now be used by clicking the mouse (they still work with the old "e" and "f" buttons if you preferred that)
- Fixed a bug where you could still capture a base after exploding.

Today:
- Added a back button during the mission briefing which takes you back to the main menu.
- Missions 1 to 5 have no Bomber Eggs so new players can get into it easier.
- Very Low Quality setting added (this has no shadows and lowers a few textures even further)
- Auto-Deploy button added!
- AI Medics now heal even more often but the effect radius is smaller.

October Update - Forests, Abilities and Signs

Hello fellow eggs!

There's a new map! It's called Forest and is a... forest!






Abilities



More abilities have been added!

Currently you can pick from:
Shockwave - Blasts all nearby eggs away from you!
Smoke Screen - Creates a cloud of smoke around you which confuses nearby enemy eggs!
Flag Bearer - Temporarily drops a flag which increases nearby friendly egg's damage!
Air Strike - Calls in an Air Strike which cracks any eggs it hits! (This can crack you so make sure you get out of there quickly)

There are many more abilities planned!



Major Egg



Major Egg now talks more often. He now updates you when a base is captured.



Signposts



There are now finally Signposts to indicate out-of-bound areas.



Another New Map! More Optimising! Minimaps!

Hello! It has been a while since the last update announcement but there have been loads of updates since!

I ought to make a list of all the changes because when it comes round to writing the announcement I forget most of it!

Here we go...

NEW MAP



I'm working on a few historical maps for a new campaign episode. The first map is El Alamein!




Woah... what's that? A map?
That's right! It's a minimap! If you get lost or want to check the current state of the battle you can use the brand new minimap!


Optimising


I've been working and testing a few different things to make the game run smoother, it's currently performing a lot better than it did! Like... a lot better. But there is still a way to go! I must have got a bit carried away putting new features in without thinking how it would affect the performance. We've all learned something this week, right?

Alps has had some new things added and old things removed!

What else?

We have been working on re-working some things to make the game run much more smoothly. This first update will change a few of the major things that were causing frame drop issues. You SHOULD see a slight improvement with the frame rate. There is still a long way to go but we are working hard on making the game run better!

Things!



MAJOR EGG
- During missions 1 & 2 Major Egg will give hints explaining the basics of Eggs 1942 for new players
- During a Conquest match Major Egg will give you updates on how long is left of the match
- During a King of the Hill match he will tell you if the enemy team has captured the base

ABILITY CHANGES
- You can now upgrade the shockwave ability power
- Shockwave now makes a little sound
- Bomber Egg explosions are now even larger

AI CHANGES
- AI Eggs are more likely to go to capture a base instead of towards the nearest enemy egg or player
- The defending team in a Conquest mode will NOT go towards bases to capture them unless there are no attacker eggs nearby
- The attacking team in a Conquest mode will be much more likely to aim for bases instead of eggs or player

OTHER CHANGES
- You can now rotate the camera when waiting for respawn with Q & E
- There's a new map image for Château d'oeuf

Medic Egg



There's a Medic Egg! As a Medic you can heal yourself and all the friendly eggs around you!

All classes can now see other egg's health when pressing "Q" during a match.



Mission Intros


I'm working on a few intros for some of the key missions, eventually these will all link together as a storyline.




Map Updates


Most maps have had updates!
Kitchen has had a few new surfaces added and other maps have had trees planted.



Mission Briefing Room


There's a brand new Mission room where you'll receive a briefing from Major Egg.

Hats, Map Updates and more!

Hello eggs! I'm back!

Over the last few days I've uploaded lots of little updates and patches. Now comes the part where I try to remember what I did.

Hats!



Yes... you can now unlock hats and put them on your egg! There is already quite a selection and I'm sure there will be many more coming very soon.



Hats are unlocked in different ways, some by reaching a certain level, some by completing missions and others by getting Steam achievements.

Map Updates


Most of the maps have had updates. I didn't make a note of all my changes so here's what I remember:

- Arena now has moving walls that start at random times.
- Arena's blocks have been slightly moved around.
- Arena now has a few tank traps and barbed wire scattered around.
- Egg Island has had a few new bases added and some island extensions.
- Bridges has also had a few new bases added and some rougher ground in areas.
- Alps has had some new mountain top areas added.
- The bridges on Alps are now slightly wider.

Other changes



- You can now Push by pressing "F". Pushing will push you forwards slightly. You can use Push to get away from enemies or launch yourself into them.
- There's a "Push" and "Jump" icon in the bottom right of the screen which go brighter when they are ready to be used.
- You can now upgrade "Push" and "Jump" in the Egg Upgrades menu.
- You can now see both team's capture progress when capturing a neutral base with the enemy team.
- Capturing neutral bases is now much slower.
- AI enemies now wear hats, green kettle helmets for The Royal Egg Force and Stahlhelms for The Bad Eggs.
- AI enemies now drop their hats when they are cracked.
- Upgrade stats now load when the game loads instead of only when you go to the Egg Upgrade menu.
- Fixed the bug where Bomber Eggs would blast Heavy Eggs through surfaces or into space.

Lots of little updates!

Hello Eggs!

This week I will be getting the final things prepared for my wedding which is on Saturday and then I'll be away for a couple of weeks after that.

I wanted to get a load of things added / fixed before I go away so I've been uploading lots of little updates most days.

Here's a list of the things that have changed:

20th July



- Capturing / Defending range for the bases has been increased so you can capture from further away.
- Capturing / Defending bases is slightly slower.
- Player gets Cracks for self destructing as a bomber (finally)
- Player gets Cracks for hitting enemies with artillery (way too OP)

21st July



- Put the option to change class during a match back in (Sorry I took that out, that was silly)
- Artillery Crew class added! (Only these guys can use the turrets because they're a easy way of getting free Cracks)
- Scout has been nerfed slightly
- Heavy cannot be destroyed by Bomber Eggs explosions
- Eggs destroyed by you when you self destruct as Bomber now count towards your Crack total (fixed)

23rd July



- Temple has been updated quite a bit
- New achievement for cracking 1,000 eggs
- Required level for unlocking classes has been increased
- Radius for capturing / defending bases slightly increased again
- Capturing bases is slightly slower
- Less xp for capturing bases

There's probably a load of other things I've missed, too!

Upgrade Your Egg!

Hello Eggs!

Time to update you on the latest updates!

Egg Upgrades!





You can get upgrade points and completely customise your egg! In the next few updates I will be adding more perks and a system where you can paint your egg. There's a lot I'd like to do with this new upgrade / customising feature!

Gold



Gold is earned from completing missions or by getting a Victory on a Random Challenge (Random Challenges are unlocked after level 8)

Other updates



- Health only regenerates when near a friendly spawn base.
- Raised the bridge between the two tables in Kitchen.
- Raised one of the Bad Egg spawn bases slightly in Kitchen.
- You can now GET INSIDE THE MUGS in Kitchen.
- New map "Bridge" which is currently a work in progress.
