Replays! You have to make sure to enable replays in the menu (should be enabled by default). While this is enabled, during a match with the AI, you can press Instant Replay to view the last point..and any previous point. After the end of a match, you can view replay and/or save replay. Saving a reply makes it available in the Replay Theater. (new option in the main menu). While in replay mode, use the touchpads on the controllers to navigate time and position and game place. You can still drag the world around with the left gripper.
Spectator mode: while it's enabled in the menu, your pc will show a spectator view of the match. Anyone at the pc can control this view via WASD, and mouse (click and drag) or Arrow Keys. Additionally, hitting SPACE zoomed you between the preset camera positions.
Fixes/Updates:
Huge performance fix. Frame skip or similar behavior should be reduced 99%. Future patches will improve even more. If you still see a lot of stutters, please let us know.
Bug with AI freezing has been fixed.
AI logic has been updated as per community requests. For example, Amateur and Intermediate don't aim down the middle of the table, but to your sides (since it's easier). Also, each level has a speed and spin amount at which they start making mistakes. The harder you hit, or the more spin you put on the ball past that, the high the error range. So more human overall. Future patches will revamp the logic completely to improve it even further.
Paddle handle now has collision mechanics.
The spin slider has increased range after conferring with many seasoned players to match modern paddles. The physics of paddle collision will be worked on further, but with this patch, it should be pretty 1 to 1 already to reality.
Ping compensation slider doubled in effect. Depending on who you are playing, you can change it to make the shots appear cleaner at the cost of ball slowdown.
Collision code has been cleaned up, so there should be no more issue with balls going through the paddle at all.
Voice in MP has been altered to be much cleaner. This has introduced a bit of a delay in the audio (about half a second each way). We'll see about reducing delay, but for now, cleaner audio is definitely better.
Additionally to voice, a voice volume slider has been added to increase or decrease (All the way to mute) your opponent.
At the end of your match with the AI and opponents, there is an end of match menu. Current known issue is that the rematch button doesn't work correctly for multiplayer matches. We'll push a fix tomorrow for this. Meanwhile, if you press on the menu key on the controller, it will hide this menu, and you will be in free hit mode with your opponent.
Known Issues:
rematch button doesn't work in MP.
watching instant replay during a match does not stop the match, so if you try to do it during the AI serve, weird stuff might happen. We will fix this in the near future.
going outside of the safe space that is this apartment may blind you..it's very bright. Make sure to wear SPF over 9000 sunscreen.
Final Note:
Saved replays will be in the [game]/Assets/Recordiings directory as .rec files. You can share these with people. Also, if you see something odd in the game, or a bug in the match, please share with us the replay if you can (for example, if you still see the ball go through your paddle).
we have rewritten a bunch of code to make it super optimized, but it is built for a 64 bit machine. If you are running 32 bit, and get errors or weird behavior, please let us know and well work with you.
Small Post Eleven Patch
Fixed ball going through paddle for some users
Fixed unusable menu for some users (tested with 2 users, if you still experience this please reach out to us)
Ping mitigation slider: all the way to left (set to 0) means no floatiness, but more ball going through the opponent's paddle visually due to lag
Introduced visual quality slider in settings (Set to highest for 8x AA, fixes shadows for people whos config has been defaulting to low)
Added invite a friend functionality
Serving wall to make clear rule of serving behind table (can be turned of)
Reduced AI long taunts occurrence frequency
Reduced AI paddle distance from ball strikes
Can now bounce and drop ball without losing point, point starts on paddle strike
Variable haptic feedback strength can be adjusted in settings
Various performance optimizations
Fixed various scoring issues (when paddle near table, or when serving on bed side)
free play in multiplayer by tossing ball at your opponent and letting them get the first hit on your turn to serve (formal free play will be added in upcoming updates)
The teams behind Ping Pong Waves VR and Eleven Table Tennis Simulator, a simulator known for the highest quality physics achieved to date, have joined forces to bring you the undisputed leading game in the virtual reality ping pong space.
Physics, Physics, Physics
Rebuilt from the ground up our proprietary physics engine is the most advanced yet, it does what unity fails to ... it simulates proper physical interaction down to the level of detail necessary for perfect table tennis. With special emphasis on spin mechanics and friction calculations we have tuned this release to be the most realistic simulation available. We have held our selves to rigorous standards to create test beds that allow us to confirm our simulations behavior matches reality as closely as anyone has achieved to date. At the time of this updates release no other virtual reality ping pong experience can match the mind blowing fidelity of our physics engine.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer has received a major overhaul for a much smoother experience. The quick match function will match you with other players to optimize ping and lag and the in-match lag compensation is greatly improved.
Pricing
Starting with this update we will be increasing the price to $9.99 for what we feel is the premium product in the vr ping pong space

Multiplayer alpha v-0.1 is live (Edit July 26)
WARNING multiplayer is a very rough experience right now, not even close to full release. If you are playing in this alpha, expect technical difficulties!
EDIT july 26:
- Tacked on a small update to close idle lobbies in effort to reduce matching "ghost players"
For the last two weeks we have focused primarily on an alpha version of multiplayer
Multiplayer alpha v 0.1:
- Quickmatch divided up by region (use own region for best latency)
Multiplayer Alpha Usage Notes:
- A player can only create balls on their serve
- Before each match there is a countdown until scoring activates
Multiplayer Alpha Known Issues:
- Lobby matching has some known connection issues which we will fix in following iterations to give more instantaneous matches (for now exit to a single player match and try again when matching seems to be unsuccessful for over a minute),
- Announcer countdown sometimes does not properly lock balls from being created
General Improvements
- Paddle rotation setting
- Table height setting
- Single player let serves
- Removed ball basket
- Trigger on non-paddle controller spawns balls
- EDIT: stronger haptic feedback (we will make this strength adjustable by setting in following updates because it seems to varry so much from person to person on what is considered apropriate feedback)
Physics Improvements
- Fixed sporadic bounces when playing with ball bounces on paddle
- Tunned paddle to hit balls slightly more forcefully
In the next few weeks we will focus on iterating on multiplayer issues included in the current alpha.
Multiplayer Preview
We have been hard at work on a number of features, the biggest one is multiplayer. Here is a link to our progress so far:

stay tunned for further updates.
Testers Wanted! (West Coast)
We are working on certain features and need commited testers available at flexible hours: weekdays after 7pm (PDT), and most of the day during weekends. Email us at pongwavesvr@gmail.com and we will select a few users.
Physics Adjustment v2 - 7/10/16
This week we focused on physics sensitivity improvements along with some general improvements.
Physics:
- Fixed an issue on some balls being generated in a match not having magnus force applied
- Simulate a higher friction rubber on the paddle
- Account for energy loss (ex. shape deformation, heat) on ball impacts
General Improvements:
- Choice of table colors: red, green, blue, black (our new favorite), and pink
- Choice to turn ball trail effect on/off
- More gradual difficulty levels: amateur, semi-pro, professional, world class, and legendary (This is the one to beat Pood :) )
- Waves streak score multiplier and a fixed amount of allowed failed returns
missed returns
Physics Readjustment - 6/28/16
We have reverted to physics behavior closer to that of the initial release, the updated time step from the last patch proved problematic for a portion of users. We will be looking for physics improvements that can be delivered more reliably to all players.
Additional Changes:
- Spawn paddle on table
- Eliminate paddle trailing controller
- Faster pacing in waves
June 27 Patch Notes
- A New visualy higher quality environment
- Improved anti aliasing
- Two handed serving
- Default to louder sound effects
- Transperant ball trail effect
- Endless bucket of balls and ability to play around outside of match
- Use trigger button to pickup ball with second controller
- Increase physics timestep so forcefull swings register more reliably
Patch Edit:
- Spawn player area closer to table and paddle by default
- Stay tunned for a physics update tonight! (we have been finding the sensitivity is varying by players systems and will try to reduce that in the following update)
