Update 0.7.7I Live (Random Crash/Not Responding Issue Fixed)

0.7.7I is live and finally fixes the crashing/not responding issues from last weeks update. It ended up being an internal Unity issue from when we downgraded from 2019 back to 2018. I had to reimport the entire project overnight and now looks like everything is working as it should. I want to thank all of you who helped me test countless builds to try to track down the issue including @Gwinn. We can now move our focus onto fixing other bugs and issues, continuing optimization and work on the Upstate update.

EmergeNYC Upstate is a new update coming soon for EmergeNYC.



You may have already heard we will be adding a new map to EmergeNYC. The map has already been completed and is a much smaller, spread out, and rural based environment with a main interstate, small downtown area, and plenty of forest and farm land for a wide variety of different types of emergencies. Our goal with this map is to appeal to the audience who prefers small towns and rural areas over large urban landscapes like our current Manhattan map. Units on this new map will be completely fictional and different from our NYC based units currently.



There will be approximately 5 volunteer fire department vehicles including a Tanker, Quint, and brush truck with the ability to respond to the station with your own customizable POV. A small police force, and a fire department based ambulance will also be included.



This new environment gives us the opportunity to experiment with new emergencies such as brush fires, missing people, and more. Our main goal with this new map is to provide a breath of fresh air to our players, especially those who are from areas like this. A reminder, as many may complain that we should be focused on more important things. This map was provided at no cost to us, generously by Unity. No hours have been put into creating it, only shaping it to fit into what we are trying to accomplish with this update. We aim to have the first version of this new map playable by the beginning of the Steam Summer Sale next month.

As for 0.7.7F

We apologize for the delay on this patch. We decided to update to Unity 2019 from 2018 with the hope that we could utilize its new optimizations, however after updating we spent several days trying to fix new errors and issues that came with the update. Unfortunately, it would take a good amount of time to solve the issue and we wanted to keep patching the game, we reverted back to 2018 and now have update 0.7.7F live on all branches. Donut will continue solving issues that have arose with 2019, while I will continue to patch and fix issues in 2018 and provide updates and patches.

Update 0.7.7F is our second patch with the main focus on optimizing the game experience. In the last optimization patch we were able to significantly reduce loading times. With this patch, we have taken time to track down the majority of random lag spikes and their causes and address them. Our next optimization patch will solely focus on improving the overall frame rate of the game. Along with optimization we have been able to fix a good amount of bugs and make a few changes. After tons of requests, we have decided to revisit the idea of a free demo for people interested in EmergeNYC. The free demo allows players to test a fire scenario in the Fire Academy and gives them access to 1 engine, 1 ladder, a police car, and an ambulance with very limited area to drive around. This gives people the option to test out the fire fighting mechanics, driving and siren mechanics, police customization, equipment, and the character controller in a limited and controlled environment at no cost. We do this in the hope that more people will have an idea of what they are purchasing before hand as well as seeing if the game will run on their PC.

0.7.7A Live on All Branches, Fixes Loading Issues and Locking up after Loading

*NOTICE 0.7.7 UPDATES WILL BE MOSTLY OPTIMIZATION AND BUG FIXING*

0.7.7A Is live on all branches and includes a quick temporary fix to fix the locking up issue after loading. We had to remove the entire underground subway system as well as several other environments and emergencies until we can fix the issue. You wont really notice any difference in the game except much quicker loading times and better performance. Thanks for all your patience as we continue to optimize and improve the game.

0.7.7 is live and is our first major update in terms of optimization. There are two things we need to address with optimization and that's loading times, and FPS. This update has virtually solved all loading time issues. Our next step is refining fixing loading, this includes eliminating lag spikes when spawning a unit or character. Next is optimizing performance wise. Since Last update, loading times were past 20 minutes. As of 0.7.7 load times range from 40 seconds to 4 minutes. Let us know how long it takes for you to load in! Also included in this patch are several fixes to bugs. Change log below:

Extreme Loading Times Bug, We are actively fixing this issue

Since 7.6G or so, a weird issue has been causing loading times to increase with every patch. Rest assured we are putting 100% focus into figuring out why these loading times are so high.

Update 0.7.6H is Live on ALL Branches! Public Release!

0.7.6 is a huge update and we are excited to finally release it public after tons of unforeseen setbacks and issues that we came across. The update includes many new changes and fixes however brings with it the possibility of new bugs and issues. It is nowhere near perfect but it is significant progress! Please be sure to report bugs to us so that we can fix the issues as quickly as possible.
