Endless ATC

Update version 3.6

New in this version:

  • Long press and doubleclick functionality of the sidebar can now also be used with the mouse and keyboard commands, for example selecting ILS* mode by longpressing the Insert key, or longpressing both left and right mouse buttons at the same time.
  • Doubleclicking SID now automatically selects the highest altitude (handy for New York), and planes can be cleared for the localizer only (LLZ mode) by doubleclicking ILS (could be useful if still planes overlap and should not descend just yet), but don't forget to give the full approach clearance later on.
  • if you don't like to manually handoff planes, then the pilots won't notify you anymore when they switch to a different frequency automatically; this is to reduce repetative messages.
  • Hover the mouse above a plane to show the plane type and the distance from selected plane in the description text at the bottom.
  • After a (very) long delay, pilots decide to divert automatically (costs 0.5 point).
  • And some minor adjustments and bugfixes.

Update v3.5.3

Small update with some adjustments here and there. Changelog:

  • faster speech rate when time multiplier is enabled
  • game starts paused when skill value is high (12+), to have some time to get ready to play
  • bugfix (OK button being sometimes yellow for no reason)
  • for emergencies the vertical seperation is reduced to 500ft
  • and a couple minor adjustments

Thanks for the feedback!

Update v3.5

In this update, there are several changes/new features aiming for a better controlling experience. Here's a list of what's new:

  • (edit 23 March): bugfixes
  • planes can make turns greater than 180 degrees; instead of just making the shortest turn to a selected heading, planes will now comply to instructions to turn 'the long way round', making turns up to 360 degrees possible
  • doubletap between heading buttons to easily instruct a 360 turn over right or left
  • switch between airports without losing progress
  • adjusted penalty for separation incidents; long duration incidents should now cause less skill reduction than before
  • tower is a bit more helpful; tower can reduce the speed of approaching planes that are too close to a preceding plane (when they're less than 10 miles from the runway); this may avoid some missed approaches
  • larger margins between departures and between arrivals, and adjusted initial climb altitudes for Paris and Atlanta, for a smoother traffic flow
  • button added in menu to switch the sidebar to the other side
  • various minor graphics/performance improvements

Update v3.4

This update includes the following adjustments:

  • the blue text from a selected plane now remains visible till OK is clicked, and the message is also displayed at the front of the queue to make sure it's visible.
  • green text now always fits on screen (using two lines of text when needed)
  • no automatic altitude change anymore when enabling SID mode (mainly affects the KJFK area where SID is off by default; it should avoid accidental climb instructions)
  • added a warning message before cap mode is enabled for the first time, to inform that goals won't trigger anymore when cap has been used.
  • yellow wake arcs for better clarity
  • added keyboard command ii to enable ILS* mode

Update v3.3.4

In this update, a couple of small adjustments and new features:

  • press and hold the 'cap' button to lower the skill value (reduce traffic), and holding it till 4.0 now closes the airspace entirely
  • more accurate heading suggestions from planes near storms
  • adjusted altitude of inbound aircraft, so they don't enter higher than the top of the airspace anymore
  • text at the bottom of the screen shows the distance d between the selected plane and the current cursor position
  • adjusted some initial headings after takeoff
  • planes to secondary airports now reduce to speed 220KT automatically, similar to planes inbound the main airport
  • planes inbound KJFK no longer initially fly inbound the LGA VOR, to avoid possible confusion with traffic actually having KLGA as destination (which have an LG tag)

Update v3.3: New York and Paris

Two new locations are added to the simulator: New York and Paris! That totals six locations to choose from in Endless ATC. Here's a list of what's new in this update:

  • Added Paris Charles de Gaulle (LFPG), with Orly (LFPO) as a secondary airport. Note that flights over the city of Paris are only allowed at FL66 or higher.
  • Added New York (KJFK), with Laguardia (KLGA) and Newark (KEWR) as 'secondary' airports (although all three fields are quite busy); this can indeed get chaotic very quickly! It's a really challenging airspace. Note that all departures here fly on a heading, instead of the usual SID mode. So you'll need to enable SID mode manually at some point to clear them to their departure fix. In real life, the New York tracon is very complex due to the large amount of traffic and the many airports closely together. Planes from JFK therefore often steer eastbound, on a certain climb route to avoid getting near other fields, then get some vectors before they are cleared to a departure gate. In the game, this is simplified to one heading and then you can just enabling SID mode when the it's safe to do so.
  • Reduced separation to from 3.0 to 2.5NM for planes on the ILS, when they're closer than 10 miles from the runway; this avoids incidents due to compression when the planes reduce speed.
  • Added more SIDs to the London area.
  • Various minor adjustments.

Enjoy!

Update v3.2.4

This update includes a couple of improvements:

  • Speech adjustments (force use of English TTS voice, better callsign pronunciation for Atlanta)
  • Incident alarm sound is now silenced when you select an involving plane
  • Bigger clouds

Thanks for the feedback!

Update v3.2.3

A couple of minor bugfixes and adjustments, including:

  • easier expediting climb, by doubleclicking in the middle between the altitude buttons
  • bugfix achievements
  • slightly more departures
  • higher chance of clouds when weather is enabled
  • [hotfix 25 Sept] KATL speech improvements, and further adjustmens to achievements.

A small update was released on 23 August. These are the changes:

  • better storm avoidance near airspace boundary
  • more variation in initial climb altitude
  • delays trigger now a few minutes later
  • wake turbulence arcs better visible
  • TTS (speech) improvements
  • [Edit 8 September] released small update with a couple of bugfixes

See the blog for the complete changelog history.

Thanks for the feedback. Enjoy playing Endless ATC!
