Enter the Backrooms

R-IV Beta V

The fifth Beta for Release Version IV of Enter The Backrooms is one of the largest Betas the game has ever received, and now it is available for testing. This version includes new entities, new sub-levels, plenty of bug-fixes, and even a better system for managing screenshots. Here are the biggest changes in this Beta:

- Added Deathmoths: Flying monsters that attack you if you keep your flashlight on.
- Added Sentient Rifts: Corrupted entities that send you back a level if you touch them.
- Added Insanities: Ghostly creatures that phase through walls and drain your sanity.
- Added Facelings: Friendly creatures that appear in Outposts.
- Added Trading: You can trade with the new Facelings for items and artifacts. Books are commonly used in trades.
- Added 10 Player-Suggested Sub-Levels: Crystalline Mines by Alyx Rose, Glitched City by some weird name that exists, Level 0.2 by Master Gamer, The Ocean by hmm, Grated Halls by Bafufu, Small Trees by Ploune, Flooded Halls by Flamd, Mazes by Lyam999gh, Small Classrooms by AP STP, and Meeting Rooms by MateussDev.
- Screenshots are saved to a local folder now.
- Added a button to access your screenshots from the title screen.
- Entities deal more damage on later levels.
- Sub-levels and structures are a little less common on some levels.
- Added items to spawn the new entities in Sandbox Mode.
- Plenty of other adjustments and fixes.

With all of these features now in the game, Release Version IV as a whole is close to being done. All that's left are smaller changes and bug-fixes before the full release. I hope you enjoy this Beta, as it changes the gameplay of Enter The Backrooms quite a bit. See you next time!

R-IV Beta IV

The fourth Beta for Release Version IV of Enter The Backrooms is pretty big, adding three new negative levels to explore, four new structures to come across while wandering around, improving collisions, and fixing bugs! Here is a list of the major changes in this Beta:

- Added Level -3: A glitchy expanse with colorful blocks.
- Added Level -4: Two forests of static on top of one another.
- Added Level -5: A snowy field with strange pillars made of stone.
- Added Outposts: Rooms with tables and boxes scattered throughout levels.
- Added Vaults: Metal chambers filled with boxes.
- Added Archives: Rooms with filing cabinets, tables, and note pages.
- Added Dens: Small rooms with tables, paintings, boxes, notes, and chairs.
- Added Level Events for the new levels.
- Improved the Collisions in the game: you shouldn't get caught on walls anymore.
- Plenty of other bug fixes and small changes.

This Beta was fun to make and adds a lot to the experience of the game in my opinion. While the previous four Betas have all focused on generation, I plan on adding entities in the next Beta, so look out for that. See you next time!

R-IV Beta III

My oh my... it's been a very long time since the last Beta, hasn't it? Let's change that. To kick off the new year, I have FINALLY released the third beta for Release Version IV of Enter The Backrooms! I appreciate the patience of everyone who's been waiting for this. My life got hectic towards the end of 2021, but I've been able to find enough time to provide the next Beta for testing. Hopefully, I'll have more time in the next few months... no promises though! Anyway, without further ado, here are the most notable changes in R-IV Beta III:

- Added Level 19: A claustrophobic crawlspace made of wood.
- Added Level 20: A warehouse with stacks of products, crates, and shelves.
- Added Level 21: A maze of long hallways with doors that can transport you to early levels.
- Added Level 22: A dangerous parking garage with infinite floors.
- Added various sub-levels in Levels 19-22
- Added Level Events to Levels 19-22
- Added Level Keys to Levels 19-22
- Added Doors for Levels 19-22 to The Hub
- You can now crouch under elevated surfaces like tables and shelves
- Fixed Level Fun =) Trapdoors
- Various bug fixes throughout the game (although there are a lot of remaining bugs)

Thank you for the continued support for Enter The Backrooms. Even though this Beta took far longer than it should have, I'm glad I gave myself time to focus on other areas of my life. Many of the generation/visual issues from previous Betas have not been fixed, so prepare for a buggy experience. I've got nothing else to say for now, so have fun with the new content and let's look forward to the continued development of Enter The Backrooms in 2022. See you next time!
