Epitasis - Version 1.04 Released and One Year Anniversary Sale
Hey everyone! Lucas here with an important update on Epitasis.
As you all may know, its been quite a while since the last update to the game - in fact, practically since launch.
After the release of the game, I took a small break and then began working on the console port of the game for both Xbox One and Playstation 4. These ports have taken much longer than anticipated as a solo developer, and one thing that ended up needing to happen was a major engine upgrade. The engine upgrade was about 3 years apart, and thus this took a ton of time to get up and running again on both Windows and Mac. We also implemented a lot of infrastructure as a studio to better situate ourselves for more regular updates that are easier to produce for both platforms and future products, which was a major bottleneck previously.
I'm happy to say that Epitasis is now running on the latest version of Unreal Engine 4, and with it comes major stability and bug fixes. In addition, a major complaint - lighting during night time - has been fixed, with the lighting at night now being totally revamped across the entire game.
Version 1.04
Night time lighting update - the lighting at night now has a nice blue moonlight to help players see better
Auto exposure / auto gamma adjusted
Steam Achievements sometimes not unlocking fixed
Version number added to main menu
Content updates from Version 1.02 and 1.03 have been localized
MacOS content depot now contains Ultra HD wallpapers
MacOS startup issues fixed as game is now 64bit (game compiled on latest Xcode 11.4, UE4 4.24, MacOS Catalina 10.15.4)
MacOS ending and credits video fixed as would occasionally appear just black
MacOS distance field shadows not displaying fixed
Windows 10 startup issues fixed for certain players
Various savegame issues fixed
Sale
To support this rather large update and to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the games launch, Epitasis is on sale for 40% off for the next week - the lowest it's ever been on sale. As a single developer, I also really want to thank everyone for supporting Epitasis and being patient during these times. Thank you.
Additionally, If you've not yet left a review for the game, doing so would be extremely helpful!
Hi all! I just wanted to post a quick update to mention that a recent interview about the making of Epitasis is out now!
Funk Fiction (composer) and myself (the developer of this game) were interviewed by a small new team making documentaries and other gaming videos.

Epitasis - Version 1.03
Hello everyone!
I've pushed a new update to Steam, fixing various issues people are currently having:
Version 1.03
Refined the Circle area's large water drone puzzle.
MacOS issue where running the game on OS X 10.12 caused an error.
MacOS issue with lighting distance fixed.
Fixed an area you could get stuck at the campsite level near fences.
Fixed an issue in the ending where it was possible to get stuck under the middle platforms while moving up.
These changes are now live. Please let me know if you run into any additional issues.
Planning on another update for this weekend that continues to fix some issues, namely redesign for a Grasslands puzzle (Triangle area), night time darkness, and keybindings. Thank you for your continued patience!
Cheers,
Lucas
Epitasis - Version 1.02
Hello everyone!
I've pushed a new update to Steam, fixing some top issues people are currently having:
Version 1.02
Ending Changes - I have completely remodified the ending to remove the anti-gravity mechanic. It is now more in line with the rest of the game. I hope you like it, and let me know if you have any more issues with it in our discussion forums..
You can now return to the main hub of the game after going to the ending level.
Introduction translations fixed.
Warning added to new game button if a save already exists.
Default brightness increased when starting the game for the first time (increases brightness slider default value in graphics settings).
Cubes can no longer get stuck in your face sometimes.
Added an AZERTY keyboard option - I'm working on a keybinding feature for a future update, so this is a band-aid for now. Located in Options -> Player.
Added extra cubes in the Grasslands level with lots of small structures. This reduces back and forth time of carrying cubes.
Removed harmful red lasers as there was very few and they were inconsistent to the overall experience of the rest of the game.
Fixed a bug where the drone could disappear while moving to activate a requested button, leaving you stuck.
Regressed an issue where you could get a cube stuck in the Hexagon Planetary Hologram level.
Mentioned in the previous update, but Oculus software will no longer start when starting up the game.
Fixed a couple of missing textures in one of the Grasslands levels.
Thank you to everyone who has helped find issues and provided feedback on the game! We're very grateful to see such an active community for the game already and hope we can continue polishing the game as much as possible with everyone's help. There's still a few other things I'd like to address soon such as keybindings, a rare issue with the mouse/cursor, an ending issue on MacOS with the movie, and just general feedback.
Thank you!
Lucas
Epitasis Post-Launch Update / Hotfix
Hi everyone!
The response to the release has a been a bit overwhelming - glad to see so many people jumping in and enjoying the game for its relaxing atmosphere, scenery, and music. All the screenshots have been very awesome to see, along with the discussion forums and people helping each other out with puzzles too!
Media Roundup
There's been a few walkthroughs, gameplay videos, and articles on Epitasis so far, feel free to check out some of them here:
Some nice gameplay:

An honest review from Gameumentary:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5z1QpNikies
(issue with ending addressed below, tl;dr : I'm working to fix it up!)
I've uploaded a patch to Steam that fixes a few quick issues that people have been having:
MacOS City Ruins area crashing
Made the ending area a little bit easier to complete with the gravity well. We are going to work on fixing this area up more plus be more suitable for the game, since it seems like some have difficulty with it.
VR software loading when the game starts
Developer Settings in pause menu removed
In addition to all this, there is a few other issues we're still investigating. I'm hoping to have fixes for these sometime this weekend when I have more time to correct them:
Some achievements are not firing for certain users
French keyboard layout
Volume sliders not working for some users
Translations for the intro got reset during an earlier fix right before the games launch (all other translations in the game should be OK)
MacOS issue with ending credits/video
Big cube-drone puzzle issues
If you run into any other issues please let me know and I will work on fixing them as soon as I can! I have been trying to keep an eye on the discussion forums and investigate any issues that sound strange.
I appreciate all the understanding as we move forward in fixing any and all issues with the game. Since I am a solo-dev and full time student, it is easy for me to miss small details and get bogged down, but I hope through our community here on Steam we can get any and all issues fixed up in a timely manner.
Thank you everyone for your support and for checking out Epitasis so far. :)
Cheers!

Epitasis - Now Fully Playable / Development Update
Hey everyone!
I have some good news. Epitasis is now playable from start to finish - meaning, you can press the new game button, and play it all the way to the end credits! This is a big milestone for us, and the game is getting very close to completion.
I wanted to take a moment to talk about what lies ahead since we have reached this milestone. In the last update, I outlined some of the plans for 2019. These are still mostly the same, but we are planning on pushing the release date back to April rather than March. Once we finalize a release date, we will be sure to let everyone know. This announcement will probably occur around a month before the launch date - we're currently in the midst of even working on a brand new trailer for this announcement!
Updated 2019 schedule:
April: Launch Epitasis on PC and Mac!
Soundtrack will be released right around this time too, if not same day!
August/September: XB1 and PS4 release!
Our current goals are: polishing the game, getting the Mac version fully working, localization (we have quite a few languages planned on release), and just getting all the nitty gritty details complete.
Lastly, here are some new screenshots:
Thank you for taking the time to read this brief update on where we are at. We are very excited to be getting the game into everyone's hands very soon!

Epitasis - Development Update and heading to MAGFest 2019!
Hey everyone! Lucas here with another update for Epitasis.
It's been a bit of time since the last update, and for good reason. Epitasis is beginning to wrap up development and we've been hard at work doing so. The last few months have been particularly intense as we try to get everything together, but the good news is that everything really is finally falling into place and feeling great. We still have a few months of work left until launch, but we're almost there!
The last half of the year, we...
...demoed the game at Xbox's Pre-PAX West event in August! It was so cool finally being able to demo the game at Microsoft's Headquarters, along with seeing all the cool games at PAX West!
...showed the game close to home in DC in September, at the District Arcade. If you're ever in the area, IGDA puts on a good show each year with cool games!
...demoed at other smaller events, and received a ton of feedback that has helped improve the game immensely!
This week, Jan 3rd-6th, we will also be attending MAGFest 2019, so if you're around make sure to come to Booth 18 in the Indie Showcase area and try Epitasis!
We are planning to launch near the end of March - so just a few months away! As we get closer we will have more details and an exact date. We are so excited for everyone to finally be able to play Epitasis.
In addition to all the information, here's some new screenshots!
As always, for more frequent updates, you can be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook, or even here on Steam.
Thank you all for the support, and see you soon!
