Patch 1.3.7 - Small update to remove hidden teleport button

Greetings, everyone!

Version 1.3.7 is now live and you should be seeing release build 1.3.7 at the upper corner of the main menu. If you're not seeing the latest version number there, try updating the game manually or restarting your Steam client. (Mac users will get this update after I can get the patch tested properly)

Teleport Menu in Chapter 1: Classroom

Removed a hidden teleport menu in Classroom that I used for testing purposes but had apparently forgotten to remove when I pushed the previous update live... ( ̄ω ̄;)

Patch 1.3.6 - Achievement Bug

Greetings, everyone!

Version 1.3.6 is now live and you should be seeing release build 1.3.6 at the upper corner of the main menu. If you're not seeing the latest version number there, try updating the game manually or restarting your Steam client.

Achievement Bug

There was an achievement bug in the last version that prevented achievements from being properly registered, which is now fixed.

Minor Cleanup

There were still some leftover issue from when the text sfx was removed and this is also fixed now.

Patch 1.3.5 - Chapter 4 (Locked) Glitch Fixed & Removed Text Sound Effects

Greetings, everyone!

A new patch!? Yup!

Version 1.3.5 is now live and you should be seeing release build 1.3.5 at the upper corner of the main menu. If you're not seeing the latest version number there, try updating the game manually or restarting your Steam client.

Text SFX Removed
There was a problem with a previously added option to toggle the game's text sound effect off and on. While it's possible to fix this, I've decided to just remove it completely. Looking at it again now, the sound effect doesn't add anything to the game and rather than leaving it in the game and forcing players to disable it manually, it's probably better to just remove it altogether.

Chapter 4 (Locked)
Fixed for a bug where clearing all NPC dialog before checking the lock caused an issue where players are unable to proceed with the puzzle. It's an old bug that I had already fixed, but apparently forgot to upload...

Text Updates
Removed a few lines of redundant and unimportant text lines. Found & fixed a few grammatical errors.

Third Year And Some Updates!

Greetings, everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe during this weird time we're in. And to all father's out there, Happy Father's Day!

To be honest, I've actually forgotten about it if not because of some activity in the forum but ESCAPE Room: Reality turns 3 today! There really isn't a big reason to post these announcements but I think it's a good idea to at least provide some updates on what's been happening since last year, even if it's not much.

Binary Link: Lost Memories

I've first announced Binary Link: Lost Memories as a new project last year and had originally said that the game would be out by the end of 2019. Unfortunately, I've vastly underestimated the amount of work needed for it. The silver lining here is that I've made great progress during the last 3 months and I'm beginning to see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

Asuka is not happy with the delays...

Future of ESCAPE Room: Reality

I've planned from the very beginning to have additional content for ESCAPE Room: Reality and recent personal events over the past few weeks have only motivated me even more. But unless something changes, I'll only be getting back to this after the visual novel is completed.

What's Next?

Development on Binary Link: Lost Memories will continue and an announcement will be made once it's nearer to completion. The steam store page should also go up around then when I have final artwork and screenshots to show. No point publishing a store page with just text or with unfinalized images, placeholder graphics, and messy sketches.

In the meantime, please do continue to report any issues, suggestions or feedback on ESCAPE Room: Reality in the forums here:

Until next time, stay safe & stay strong!

Anniversary II & New Game Announcement

Greetings, everyone!

Another year has gone by in a blink of an eye (we are now 2 years old!) and despite numerous delays, I'm happy to finally announce my next project - Binary Link: Lost Memories.

Unlike ESCAPE Room: Reality, this will be a visual novel that will be more focused on story-telling. This has been a project long in the making and one that I've wanted to work on for years, but just did not have the resources or confidence to get it done right.

I was initially planning to work on another similar puzzle-based RPG followed by a DLC for ESCAPE Room: Reality, but due to some timing concerns (which turned out to be a worthless concern considering how much this got pushed back in the end) decided to go with this visual novel instead.

Binary Link: Lost Memories follows the story of Hikari as she tries to uncover the truth behind the accident that had killed her parents, and at the same time, had robbed her of her memories.

Here's a preview of one of the finished character design:

The game is currently planned to be released by the end of the year. More details will be announced when the coming soon page goes live on Steam.

I hope for your continued support, and do let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions! And if you would like to contact me directly, you can do so from here:

Patch 1.3.4 - Minor Glitches Fixed & Delayed Announcement

Greetings, everyone!

It's been a while but version 1.3.4 has just been released for Windows. You should be seeing release build 1.3.4 at the upper right corner of the main menu. If not, please try restarting your Steam client to help kickstart the update process.

The MacOS version of the update is still in the works and should go live sometime in the coming week as I do not currently have a MacOS machine available to test the update. This announcement will be amended once the MacOS version is live so please do check back here if you're a MacOS user.

Minor Fixes in Chapter 5 - The Final Stretch

Two minor glitches were fixed with this update:

  • If you interact with the drawer with the phone without first triggering the locked box, you would turn to face upwards against the wall instead of towards the drawer.
  • It's possible to trigger an outdated conversation with one NPC even after solving a particular puzzle (Vanessa's warning about the laser even though it has already been revealed). Please let me know if anyone runs into this issue again even after the update.

Text Updates

Updated conversation texts and fixed grammatical errors.

Delayed Announcement

Things happen, and unfortunately, that has caused delays after delays for my work-in-progress project, which was supposed to have been ready since late last year to early this year. I am still working on it, and although it's probably still months away from completion, I do plan to announce what it is next month.

One Year Old!

Greetings, everyone!

Just wanted to make a short announcement that ESCAPE Room: Reality, which was released on 21 June, 2017, is now officially one year old!

Thank you all for your patience, support and feedback!

It was a nerve-wrecking journey behind the scenes, with emotional highs and lows, but it was well worth it in the end. Yes, it may not look like much, but ultimately I'm happy with the way it turned out.

I'm working on something new, which despite some delays (on my part), I'm optimistic to have it completed within the next few months.

I hope for your continued support, and do let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions! And if you would like to contact me directly, you can do so from here:

Patch 1.3.3 - Gamepad / Controller Config

Greetings, everyone!

Version 1.3.3 is now up for both Windows and MacOS! If you see release build 1.3.3 at the upper right corner of the main menu, you're good to go. Otherwise, try restarting your Steam client. Unless you have disabled automatic updates, that should get the patch to download automatically.

Gamepad / Controller Config Added

Added the ability to reconfigure your gamepad / controller. You can find this within the options menu. While the game had always supported the use of gamepad / controllers, this provides the ability to remap your buttons to different functions.

Minor Fix in Chapter 2 - Game Room

Fixed an issue with the statue puzzle in Chapter 2's Game Room. While you were able to delete your previous input by hitting the "Delete" or "Backspace" key on your keyboard, gamepad/controller players did not have any way to delete or clear the code that was entered before.

This is due to how the input was received, and fortunately this was the only puzzle that had used this method. Other similar puzzles in the game used a different method to receive input, so they are unaffected by this.

The statue puzzle is now using this other input method, so you can now use the cancel/delete when trying to solve this puzzle. If you had entered a wrong code, it will also be automatically cleared for when you try again.

Grammatical Errors in Chapter 1

A few grammatical errors were found and fixed in Chapter 1 - Classroom.

Patch 1.3.2 - Text Sound Effect Toggle

Greetings, everyone!

We're now running version 1.3.2 on Steam for both Windows and MacOS!

As usual, if it reads release build 1.3.2 on the upper right corner of the main menu, that means you're up to date. Otherwise, just restart your Steam client to kick in the update process.

Text Sound Effect Toggle

I realize that the "typing" sound effect when text are being shown may not be for everyone. In hindsight, this is something that should have been added from the beginning - giving the option to enable or disable the text sound effect.

With this update, you'll be able to enable or disable this sound effect by going to the in-game menu (press ESC while you're in the game) and select the option for Text SFX.

This will only disable the sound effect that plays while "conversational" text are showing. There will still be sound effect for button presses, choice selections, etc.

Minor Fix in Classroom (Chapter 1)

- Fixed a minor issue where Roland and Alastor talks about the box in the drawer even if you've already opened it, if the conversation was not triggered previously.

And once more, Happy 2018!

Patch 1.3.1 - Minor Achievement Fix!

Greetings, everyone!

Version 1.3.1 is now live on Steam!

You should be seeing release build 1.3.1 on the top right corner of the main menu. If not, restarting your Steam client should run the update automatically.

Achievement Fix

This is just a minor fix for the Hidden Puzzle: Her Photo achievement. Before this, it would only trigger if you've previously unlocked Hidden Puzzle: Silver Ring in the same save file. It will now trigger regardless of whether you've solved the Silver Ring puzzle or not.

Minor Undocumented Updates

I've added small updates in the forms of very minor bug fixes, dialogue updates and movement tweaks over the last few months whenever I come across them.

These are all very small issues that would probably go unnoticed anyway and to be honest, I can't really remember most of them. They were just added/fixed and were waiting for more important updates to get pushed out together.

A late Merry Christmas, and an early Happy 2018!

I'm a few days late, but I would still like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Curious about what's in store for 2018? There are a few things in the works but I won't reveal anything yet until I have something more solid to share, but please do look forward to it!
