Login & Character Creation Improvements
@Bardcore and @Chisme tag-teamed to deliver you all a much higher fidelity login and character creation UI. We hope this will make a positive first impression on new and returning players regarding the quality of the game We've reduced the amount of steps and improved the user experience by minimizing excessive buttons and distractions from the process as well. Please let us know if you have any feedback to improve things! Next week, they'll be pumping on the in-game HUD and potentially conversation bubble improvements!
Miscellaneous:
Item Links are now working in chat! It's been really awesome to see players using this to share their items. Seeing some chat trolling with the system warms my heart.
Research is now adjusted so monsters can only be researched once per kill. Monsters will only have the research option until the player has fully researched them in the monster dex. We can keep this in until getting the research bones ready to add to all mobs.
Arin Winterfang has appeared outside of Ardholm, riding a Frost Lunarion. Players have requested that we have multiple ways to earn mounts and she will exchange a mount for 5 Crystallized Lunarion Hearts in the future. For now, if anyone wants to trade just PM me.
The Chromatic Band is now fully craftable and requires level 40 to equip! We plan to add another small benefit soon, which will appear in game with a future restart.
There is a small bug with class names at the moment, some players will have their classes registered as numbers on login or in-game. We will fix this shortly and your class is totally fine, it's just a visual bug.
Window Position Saving: Most elements, such as the chat box, player / target frames, and the combat utility will now save their position between logins, allowing you to customize your UI to your liking.
The Eternal Flame Insignia should now properly have an icon.
Continued Dialogue improvements by @Winterslice! He's been doing an excellent job improving the early quests on SI. Let us know if you encounter any bugs or issues and we can fix. He'll be knocking out the tutorial very soon.
Fishing has had a bit of a rework with how it flows. When casting in open water, you'll see a 30 second timer but will stop fishing with each catch. Hotspots will allow you to continue fishing for the full duration and offer a more noticeable bonus to catch rates. We will be adding lures soon, which will give another source of this bonus. Lastly, during the period of the Red Moon (Augem) players will have an additional bonus.
@bacoustrips & @schreeder have gotten started on the foundation for Guilds. We're really excited to bring this system to players, so please let us know any feedback or ideas that you may have!
@Sprocket is working on the bank system cleanup, which will include a bunch of QoL features to make banking much more user friendly!

Patch 3.1.4 - Alternate Shop Currencies, QoL Fixes, Fishing Hotspots!
**Steam Patch 3.1.4** is now up on Steam with a handful of QoL fixes.
Server has been restarted as well!
**Notes:**
# Alternate Currency in Vendor Shops
We've added support for alternate currencies, which will allow us to offer item exchanges for Monster Hunting, Crystallized Hearts (Minipets), Tokens (i.e. 10 Pristine Dragonscales for a specific piece of gear?), or other ideas we can come up with! :raised_hands:
- The Quest Container should now toggle off with Shift+B as well as the normal bags.
- Players should now properly get knocked off their mount when taking damage while using a fast mount.
- Divine Fury is no longer considered a Crusader spell while in the training grounds.
- New Loading Screen image added. (Might be a future dungeon :eyes:)
- Slightly increased the Open Nearby Corpse range to account for larger hitbox mobs.
- Cyan Mouseover outlines will now appear again when hovering a corpse while the tool is active.
- Forest Canna and Oxbloom Master Herbalist Insignia procs now work correctly.
- Mammoth hit and idle animations updated.
- Over 45 new recipes added for cooking.
- Healing Salve is now craftable.
- Ladders, Storage Containers, and Elevators should now be interactable with a simple left click.
- Continued Dialogue updates on Solitary Isles.
- 20+ New Rare Cooking Components added to the database.
- The hidden MS reduction when over 80% of max carry capacity has been removed. Movement speed will be reduced when the player is actually encumbered.
# Fishing Hotspots :Fishinge:
We've added 3 test hotspots to Seaholm near the docks, which allow players to fish for an extended period without interruption. Occasionally, the hotspot will disappear, but will respawn within a few minutes. You may have to re-cast your line sometimes as well, so it's not completely afk. There is also a bonus to fishing when catching fish at hotspots.
- PvP Matchmaking has undergone some attempted fixes to prevent the 'frozen' character bug. Please give arena a few tests and report any feedback so we can continue to improve this game mode. 2v2 / 3v3 is rather easy to roll out if we get 1v1 working properly.
- Celestium and Leysilver Bar trade pack value was increased to correctly follow the value logic from previous bars.
- The open nearby corpse range should be extended slightly, we fixed a few bugs related to the system today.
- Research XP should be gained from kills once again, let us know if it is working or is bugged.
- Attempted bug fixes for item links in chat (this didn't seem to work, we'll keep tracking down the root of the issue for global chat)
- We'll add a **World Boss** notification role to discord so players that want to participate can be alerted when a group is forming up.

Patch 3.1.3 - Bug fixes, Cloak Physics & more

Notes:
DPS Meter bug fixes. Should now properly report DPS instead of total damage.
The UI should now block clicks from triggering movement in the Left Click to move setting.
Object detection is more strict now for left clicks. Left clicking should only work to interact with objects that are gatherable or have an important interaction.
Scrolling the camera should only occur when the game is in focus. We will add the hotkey setting for next build, which should be tomorrow.
Single right clicks will now bring up a context menu, instead of ctrl+right click.
Open Nearby Corpses - Left clicking will open corpses and players can keybind "Open Nearby Corpses" to show all non-empty loot windows nearby. The loot windows can be closed by looting, closing them manually, or running away from the corpse.
GCD reduced to 400ms, from 700ms.
Cloak Physics - More cloaks now have some physics applied thanks to the absolute beast @Caleb Best ! We will continue adding this effect to other obtainable cloaks soon.
Skinning Corpses can now be performed via the right-click context menu. This will make skinning knives more in line with other gathering tools and offer a variety of options to begin the skinning process. (Note: Should we re-enable the corpse hover outline when using the targeting system to skin? Let us know )
Unity Analytics has been set-up in the project so we can begin gathering information to improve performance. We'll be able to monitor FPS and resource usage across different hardware setups so we can make Ethyrial run super smooth on more systems. You can simply opt-out of this during the prompt if you don't want to share these performance metrics.
Void Claymore recipe has been fixed.

Improved DPS Meter Bardcore continues to improve the Combat Utility widget which shares your personal combat stats

Continued UI Work Chisme is absolutely killing it on the UI and bard is beginning to implement it. First up is the Character Creation flow which should be done soon. Take a look at the awesome work so far.
Notes:
Shift + B now opens all bags, including the quest bag (we will add closing the quest bag with the next patch)
Left click to move now requires a single click isntead of double
Left click to move movement delay reduced to reduce sluggishness
World Map transparency removed and zoom speed increased
Left click no longer stops Auto Run
Left clicking will now interact with objects and no longer requires Ctrl + Left Click. (We need to make a few improvements to this for next patch)
Left Clicking will now interact with the hotbar instead of Right Click
The camera will now zoom in/out on mouse scroll, without requiring ctrl + scroll
Attempted fixes implemented for resource desync
Nameplates should no longer rotate with the camera by default
Attempted fixes for white/black screens when teleporting
DPS Meter updated with DPS / HPS / and XP per Minute calculations, along with reset buttons to clear data
GCD slightly increased to match animation durations
Cloak physics implemented on a few cloaks, the rest will be done for next patch.
Werewolves, Leshii, Greater Living Lava, Cyclops, Doombringers, and more mobs have had their mouseover area expanded so looting their corpse is easier

Original Cobble was added back in, we may switch to a new style in the future

Patch 3.1.1 - Aesthetic Improvements & Linking Items In Chat
Right clicking an item in your possession will allow you to select the "Chat" option. This will add a link to that item which can be clicked on by other players to preview the item. Show off your epic drop, sell it, or troll people in chat with inappropriate memes!
* Note - this feature needs a quick patch and is not live yet, but will be soon. :sweat_smile:

Getting the world design team equipped with the tools they need to make badass biomes was a big goal for us. With all of the new monsters, these new tiles, and the ambient lights, the quality of areas in the game will start to improve quite a bit! Let us know if there are any cool biomes / themes that you'd like to see in Ethyrial in #general
# Aesthetic Updates :eyes:
We've specifically updated a handful of the most commonly used old tiles, which will increase the visual fidelity of the game. The map colors have been updated to adopt a lighter color palette that is easier on the eyes. Let us know if you like these changes or think they're bad!
**Miscellaneous:**
- Status effect timer bug fix. Status effects should count down properly while offline and not reset on relog. - the NoiseTex console errors should be gone. - You should be able to right click player names in Global Chat and whisper/invite to party. - NPC chat will now open automatically when interacting with nearby NPCs again. - The Research function on corpses is now removed - we will be adding another system to facilitate this that, such as randomly dropped bones with can be taken to a 'research table' and inspected to gain more knowledge on the monster. - Adding more basic cooking recipes, such as cooked crab. - Further updates to SI quest dialogue. Sternbrand and Sara have been updated. - Meal buffs should now be removed on death. - Continued progress on Warrens of Thought dungeon. - Goblins, Scorpions, Elementals, Barbarians, and Half-Orks have had their levels corrected to better align with the flow of progress on Solitary Isles.
**Upcoming:**
- We're working on a "Open Nearby Corpses" feature which will simply open multiple corpse containers in a small radius. You'll still experience that satisfying loot process, but won't have to click every single corpse to do it!

T9 Alchemy Elixirs & Potions
The new elixirs & potions have a unique, epic appearance and give the best buffs available in the game. They require 40 alchemy to craft. Have fun finding the resources to make them
New Mounts
Lunarion and Mammoth mounts are now obtainable as very rare drops from their respective mobs. These are just 1 color variation each - we will be adding other ways to obtain more skins very soon.
New Trade Route
The Gilded Wall Grand Merchant is now taking deliveries. This trade route offers a higher delivery multiplier for trade packs and an increased viability for gold generation. Trading is still in beta, so expect a few issues! As a reminder - logs, gems, bars, cloth, and leather can be made into different size packs based on your trading level.
Miscellaneous:
Blue Crystal construction recipe should work correctly.
Efrain Bristol, the Seaholm trader, should now act as a general merchant and purchase most items from players.
Enchanter: Clarity now performs a different function, restoring mana and healing the affected target for the mana gained when the buff expires.
Enchanter: Debilitating Waters CD reduced.
Berserker: Battlecry no longer reduces attack and cast speed, but slows the enemy for a short time.
40+ Mobs have had their armor values increased slightly to increase TTK a little bit. This is in preparation for a monster spell upgrade. We are going to try adding some telegraph-style attacks that can be dodged to make fights a bit more fun.
Infused Darkshroud bugfix.
Slightly increased silver gain from kills in the 40-44 level range.
Sand Creature encounter has been reworked to be more engaging for new players. The model size was also reduced.
A gigantic mammal has appeared in the Eternal Mountain region.
Crippling and Haunting Shadow should now be dispellable as curses.
Ritualist Cloak no longer turns players into gods.
More resources placed around Irumesa.
Progress continues on Warrens of Thought, suds' rat dungeon for levels 12-14.
Pintos have appeared in the Edrivine stables and will be a new color variation available for sale soon.
Grimbears moved up to the t6 range for monster hunting.

These mobs will have a chance to drop rare Construction Blueprints to build Colored Crystal objects in your home and can be mined for rare JC gems and the coveted Prismatic Gemstone - which will be used to craft an epic Ring.
SudsMcDuff did a great job polishing the place up, hope you guys enjoy!
Default construction recipes reduced so there isn't as much clutter, we'll be updating these to require materials soon as some players have requested.
Hydrascale necklace crafting bugfix.
Lycan Gland drop rate slightly increased.
More Mysticbloom placed in WL.
Fish have had their tooltips updated to declare their tier.
Corrupted Disease now lasts 5m rather than 30m.
More resources in general placed around Irumesa.
Slightly increased spawn blocking radius to coincide with the average aggro range. This should be a sweet spot which prevents new players from getting respawned on too quickly/frequently.
PvP 1v1 arena bug fixes.
30+ New monsters and 20+ new tiles setup in the project for future use.
Miscellaneous dialogue spelling and grammar corrections.
The Forgot Password email should now be sent properly from the server.

It's been exactly 1 year since launch, and I'd like to extend my deepest and most sincere gratitude to all of the players who have stuck with Ethyrial this past year. Thank you so much.
I first found Ethyrial one year ago and saw a lot of potential in the game even through the failed launch - so much so, I acquired half last July.
I am extremely excited to share that I've recently obtained complete, 100% ownership of Ethyrial and would like to announce our new company:

The Monster Hunting skill with over 70 kill tasks across all levels. We'll have over 200 in the near future
The Research skill and the Monster Journal, which logs kills and loot received from enemies directly in-game
The Enchanting skill, which enables our players to add additional stats or effects of their choice to armor and weapons
Implemented the Trading skill, which encourages players to move about the world and participate in a PvP loop; or skip it and buy Trading XP with gold
Expanded the Fishing skill to feature over 25 types of catchable fish
Expanded Alchemy with recipes up to level 40/T9
A complete overhaul to crafting and gathering XP balance with a focus on smooth progression of all skills in game
Designed and created 2 unreleased classes
Added a fully featured Training Grounds area, where players can test all classes at level 30 on a temporary character, fighting live monsters or training dummies
Over 30 new incredible, orchestral music tracks added to the game. Thanks to @Jake Lives lives for many of these beautiful songs!
21 /dance animations added and over 15 variety emotes
Rewards for reaching level 30 in many professions which offer unique benefits
ā¦totaling over 10,000 bug fixes, database updates, and improvements to the game

**Geoffrey the Stablemaster** is now located north of Edrivine at the Farm, at the Stables. - Base mount is 50g, requires level 20 - Fast mount is 1000g, requires level 30 - Special appearances will be 1250g+ from various sources - This should give players an initial goal to aspire to, and create an early demand for gold - hopefully positively impacting the economy! - Let me know any feedback on these - we can tweak until it feels great :pray:
Misc: - Lunarions are setup but not added yet - they'll be rep mounts/special drops - Emberhoof in the Corrupted Grove Dungeon has a low chance to drop a mount - Corrupted Rats might be a rare drop from Suds' upcoming rat dungeon :eyes: - Spirit Wolves could be an epic Ranger mount? - We can also now add badass mounts like the Spirit Steed concept (not available)
# Native Personal DPS Meter :bar_chart:
The man, the myth, the legend @bardcore has implemented a personal DPS / Combat Info UI to the game. It can be toggled on/off with a simple button right now, but we'll continue to improve the functionality!
Note: This will only show your performance so it can give you intel to adjust your gameplay, not critique other party members. 3rd party tools can be used for more info if desired.
Initial Metric Ideas: - xp/minute - damage/second - max hit - total damage dealt - kills/hr - breakdown of damage by spell name / damage source
This will also help us to identify gaps in class or item balance by enabling you all to roast us when we make a mistake! :rofl:
# Dragonscale Cloak :dragon_face:
The Dragonscale Cloak still hasn't been found/attempted to be crafted... so to sweeten the deal and get you guys interested, I updated the appearance to have a gorgeous reflection when viewed at an angle... kind of like a dragon's scale :stuck_out_tongue:
**Server Notes:** - Trade Pack crafting has been updated with new breakpoints. This should give a progression to the value of trade packs that you transport. 2 Items: Level 1 Trading 4 Items: Level 10 Trading 6 Items: Level 20 Trading 8 Items: Level 30 Trading 12 Items: Level 40 Trading
- 80 New Recipes added to cooking. - Thiron Galand misspelled quest copy updated. - More resources added around Irumesa. - NPCs no longer force the chat tab to switch to the NPC tab when spoken to.
