Quick Update!

Thanks to everyone who's bought and played the game! It's great to be flying with you!

We have made note of some bugs and balancing adjustments that need to be made. We are currently working on getting those fixed ASAP.

One that you may encounter is that your HUD will be squished into the center of your screen. This can be fixed by going into the settings menu and resetting to defaults or adjusting your HUD X and HUD Y settings.

We’re so excited that the game is finally released on Steam and so glad to have you check it out! It’s been a crazy few weeks and even crazier few days as this day crept closer and closer.

ADDITIONS:


  • Added gamepad bumper hotkeys in menus
  • Added password functionality when creating a new lobby
  • Added a sound effect indicating that a new missile is ready for hunters
  • Added a countdown timer to the map selection screen between matches
  • Added mouse and joystick sensitivity settings
  • Added FOV to spectator
  • Added a new logo intro video to the game startup
  • The orb manipulator now has a passive effect of stashing orbs 25% faster
  • Added an event signaling when a runner escapes to the activity feed
  • When the host ends a match, it will now result in a draw
  • Implemented pilot training modules (tutorials)


ADJUSTMENTS:


  • Updated the activity feed to include icons associated with the latest message
  • Any hunter barriers that are launched near a gate will have its lifetime reduced by half
  • Any hunter barriers that are launched near a gate now has a disrupted visual effect
  • On low settings, the cloak ability now has a slight tint
  • Overhauled the spectator movement
  • The mouse cursor now disappears while using a gamepad in the menus
  • Boost recharges slower, but players have more of it
  • Boost no longer immediately accelerates to max speed
  • After recall, the runner is reduced to 0 speed
  • Adjusted the Spectator top speed
  • Spectator speed scales with controller axis input
  • Toggle spectator HUD after escaping / permadeath
  • The sonar ping now tracks runners for 3 seconds
  • Adjusted the cloak’s opacity from 0.2 to 0.1
  • Hunter missiles now lock on 33% faster if the runner is marked by the sensor ping r sonar ping
  • Adjusted the missile lifetime from 2 to 2.5 seconds
  • Boost bar turns orange when it’s below the minimum boost threshold


BUG FIXES:


  • Fixed a bug where using the mouse to rotate the camera in the customization menu caused gamepad navigation to stop working
  • Fixed a bug where the boost animation would play when cutting engines
  • Fixed a bug where the player could still control the ship while the pause menu was open
  • Fixed a bug where the gamepad and keyboard hotkeys were not properly updating depending on the input you were using
  • Fixed a bug where additional UI elements were being displayed in the map select screen
  • Fixed a bug where a host-only gamepad hotkey was appearing for all players in the lobby
  • Fixed a bug where the player could navigate to the lobby buttons while having the settings menu overlay open
  • Fixed a bug where the hunter missile would collide with energy orbs
  • Fixed a bug where players could switch teams while the game was starting
  • Fixed a bug where opening a dropdown in the settings played its SFX louder than other sounds
  • Fixed a bug where the volume settings were not working on load
  • Fixed a bug where spectators who joined mid-game could not move
  • Fixed a bug where ships and player nameplates were not visible to spectators joining midgame
  • Fixed a bug where the cloak was not hiding the hunter’s tracking marker
  • Fixed a bug where pressing the back button in the loading screen caused the main menu to pop up

Version 0.8 - Gamepad Navigation Controls

ADDITIONS:

Good news pilots! Evasive Maneuvers is now available to play for Steam Next Fest (June 2022 edition)!



ADDITIONS:

  • Spectators can now see all player nameplates
  • Spectators now have an icon in the lobby

  • Hunter ships now collide with each other
  • When picking up an orb, it no longer plays the orb decay effect

Build 33 - UI Detailing

ADDITIONS:

  • When a game is starting, the team selection buttons are disabled to prevent last minute team switching
  • Starting to add gamepad hotkeys in the menus. Pressing the ‘Y’ button on a gamepad switches teams in the customization screen
  • Added a gamepad hotkey display on menu screens
  • Added a UI death and respawn animation


ADJUSTMENTS:

  • Network optimizing, refactoring, and organizing to improve the game's performance
  • Updated one of the runner patterns that was missing a stripe
  • The lobby now dynamically resizes each team's roster depending on the number of players
  • The orb manipulator's SFX now fades away when the ability stops
  • Removed unused assets
  • The currently active tab is now visually differentiated in the customization menu


BUG FIXES:

  • Fixed a bug where if a ship was pushed outside of the map, they would not respawn
  • Fixed a bug where client runners were unable to hear the missile locking & locked SFX
  • Fixed a bug where the hunter’s missile could collide with the camera
  • Fixed a bug where the previously selected map was still highlighted when returning to the map selection screen
  • Fixed a bug where ship visibility and nameplate display were being affected by actor relevancy
  • Fixed a bug where there was no SFX for selecting an ability in the lobby

Build 27 - Network Rework

ADDITIONS:

  • Added a post-game timer. If the warp gate is not powered up when the game time runs out, hunters will win after the post-game timer runs out.
  • If a player joins a game in progress, they will spawn in as a spectator
  • Added a cooldown to the hunter's missile
  • Added a few new ship animations
  • Added a credits page to the main menu
  • Pressing the "select" button on gamepad now toggles the HUD


ADJUSTMENTS:

  • Ship customizations are now saved between sessions
  • Updated the padding on the server browser
  • Optimized some networking code for ships, making them more efficient
  • Missile movement is now smoother for clients after some networking updates


BUG FIXES:

  • Fixed a long-standing bug where ships would snap locations after drifting
  • Fixed a bug where after a game, players would load into the lobby and all buttons were blank
  • Fixed a bug where cutting your engines repeatedly would cause players to immediately stop instead of keeping their momentum
  • Fixed a bug where the currently selected map name wasn't being displayed in the lobby or the server browser
  • Fixed a bug where game sessions were not being destroyed properly which stopped players from being able to join or host new sessions
  • Fixed a bug where the host's controller rumbled when they ended a game through the pause menu
  • Fixed a bug where if a hunter killed multiple runners at once, only one of the runners respawned
  • Fixed a bug where the "ability not ready" sound would play when manually triggering the barrier or EMP abilities
  • Fixed a bug where the orb stashing meter was not filling for clients

Build 21 - Tweaks, Bugs, & Fixes, Oh My!

ADDITIONS:

  • Added control rebinding
  • Added a cursor turning toggle
  • Various settings are now functional
  • The missile now interacts with the Cloak and Flares abilities
  • Added a whooshing sound to the moving containers on Structica
  • Added a hunter-coloured aura around the missile to make the missile easier to see
  • New Barrier ability FX
  • Added text that lists the current map's name in the lobby


ADJUSTMENTS:

  • Slight update to the EMP FX
  • Updated the Flares FX
  • Reduced the speed of background ships in the hunter customization menu
  • Moved a prop in the runner customization menu that could block the camera's view
  • The Sonar Ping ability's distance has been increased
  • The Barrier ability's size and duration has been slightly reduced
  • When the game ends, sounds fade away faster to better hear the end-game stinger
  • Trying out various default control schemes


BUG FIXES:

  • Fixed a bug where the main menu would be called after closing the settings from the pause menu
  • Fixed a bug where quickly toggling the pause menu stopped the player from opening it again
  • Fixed a bug where energy orbs sometimes spawned outside the playable area on Structica
  • Fixed a bug where the music wasn't looping
  • Fixed a bug where the amount of orbs stashed wasn't properly displayed
  • Fixed a bug where a runner could no longer use their ability for the rest of the game after being EMP'd
  • Fixed a bug where the Barrier ability was only blocked runners through one side
  • Fixed a bug where the energy orb's rings received environment decals
