Pirates! MOD - EoD Update to v4.1.037


Pirates!


Pirates is a free modification for Eve of Destruction - Redux, which was inspired by the Battlefield modification 'Pirates'.
Everything currently in the Pirates mod for Eve of Destruction is obtained either from freely available assets, was purchased online or was self-made.
Many thanks go to Dnamro for the idea and a lot of help on this mod!
Pirates offers a wide variety of different ships and boats with a wide range of naval combat options. The ship's cannons vary greatly on firepower and it takes a lot of practice to be able to hit targets accurately.

Fight in huge sea battles against enemy ships or on land against bots with swords, pistols, axes and muskets.
You can even take a ride in a balloon to get behind enemy lines.

The game is currently available for Singleplayer only. Multiplayer may be added if there is enough interest.

The MOD comes with the main game Eve of Destruction - Redux VIETNAM and gets updated automatically!


Vietnam! Another huge update!


EoD has got another huge update. Nearly everything has been revised and a lot of changes have been made in nearly every map to make the gameplay more exciting.

New maps come from EoD classic: Brown Water Navy and Hai Van Pass.

Brown Water Navy classic


This map is predestinated for boats and it has a lot of it!


Hai Van Pass


The most beautiful road in Vietnam is scene of a fictive battle. The map also comes with a new game mode: Anti Air! Jump into a ZPU-2 or the new ZSU 23-4 Schilka and get down some bandits from the skies!

EoD Update to v4.1 - World Cup 2018 in Russia



World Cup 2018


In time for the start of the football/soccer World Cup 2018 in Russia, the update for Eve of Destruction (EoD) has been completed.
On this occasion I brought a simple football game into EoD.
You can find the football area in the new map 'Cao Lanh' (Game Category: Fun).

The rules of the game are simple:
You play until a team (USA/Vietnam) has reached 10 goals!
If the ball leaves the playing field, a new ball is spawned at the center point.
To shoot, you just need to go to the ball.
The kicking is automatic and the shot strength depends on the running speed.
The shot goes in the direction of sight, which means you can definitely hit the target!
Do not expect any strategically playing bots, they are only amateurs, so a stud counter team :)

Update to v4.1 - completely new AI


The code for the infantry bots was completely rewritten because the old AI left much to be desired.
In short, the new AI code is only 20% of the old code, but has much more features. The bots and the performance have become noticeably better!

Update to v4.1 - new: AC-119 Gunship


As a gunner in an AC-119 you can set a lot of fire in the map 'The Ricepaddies'.

New Map: Saigon Suburbia


This map also comes with a new game mode: Traffic survival :)
Anyone who has ever seen pictures of traffic in Saigon or Hanoi knows what is going on in the streets.
Of course, the map can also be played in normal combat mode.


New Map: Welcome to the jungle


As announced in the latest news, this is probably the most detailed map for EoD ever built.
It is playable in both day- and night-mode.


New Map: Green Hell


Green Hell already existed in old versions of EoD, but this is a completely new map with some surprises in the undergrowth!


New Map: My Lai (Singleplayer only)


The My Lai massacre is a hard topic and was the beginning of the end of the Vietnam War.
Of course this topic is not to be missed in EoD, but the story here is changed somewhat: As a gunner in a helicopter you should stop the massacre! (Wich is what nearly happened this day!)


New Map: Cao Lanh (Singleplayer only / Category: Fun)


The above mentioned soccer map.
Just the right thing for the game breaks during the World Cup, it's really fun!

Update anouncement to v4.1 - Summer 2018


I am happy to announce a new update.
With the next patch - which should be released in summer 2018 (northern hemisphere) - massive improvements of the AI and a lot of new features will come into the game.

AI


The code for the AI has been reduced by 80%, but has significantly more features.
The bots are now much better, which you'll notice after a few minutes of playing.
The pathfinding, the accuracy and much other things are significantly different from older versions.

The bots now attack in platoons and no longer single as before. Of course, this increases the difficulty but also the tension!

AI animations


That all bots run in the same way seemed to be subprisoned. As a result, the bots animations were made more varied and new animations were added, at the request of some players.
This is easier said than done, because there are not many available player animations for Unity, and I unfortunately cannot create them.
If someone has a source for it I would be grateful for hints!

AC-119 gunship


In the discussion forum, someone asked about an armed AC-119, which was used in the Vietnam War.
The plane was already in game (unarmed as a transporter) and therefore it was possible to make something out of it without any problems.
And I have to say, the result is awesome and it's really fun!
As like the ' Doorgunner ' games, where you sit in the MG of a Huey, the AC-119 is also shot from the side with an M-134.
The projectiles leave a luminous trace and depending on what you hit on the ground, you set the environment on fire.
Maybe I'll upload a video soon.

Welcome to the Jungle


The most graphically sophisticated map ever built for EOD is likely to be the new 'Welcome to the Jungle'.
No other map contains so much details.

Jumping fishes, flies, mushrooms, soil vegetation in the jungle and on meadows, a fabulous moon, searchlights, traps with flares and fireflies in the night version of the map and much more. The map just looks great.

Update to v4.0.983


With 7 new maps, controller support, noticeable improvements of the bots and much more, the new version is a huge update.
The bots were mostly expelled, that they repeatedly shoot through walls. But also the selection of the opponent has been improved - so infantry will no more shoot at tanks with AK-47 or M-16 ;)

All maps were performance-checked and the result is a significant increase in FPS.

The maps are remakes of many well-known maps.

Controller Support


You can drive/fly the vehicles with controller now. Tested with Xbox One, Steam and 2 dozend other controllers.
But because of the extremely different hardware there's no guarantee, that your controller or joystick will work. Just try it out!

Bad Moon Rising


Is one of three well known old maps from the early days of EoD. It is a night-map with a densely covered swamp and is really exciting, because you often see the opponents very late!


Hill 937


Also a well known old map about the famous hard-fought Hamburger Hill.
Like many others it has a day- and night mode and offers plenty of variety.


Lam Son


Lam Son was a very popular map in the old BF42 modification, because the relatively small map offers very quick fights and race for the flags.
This also happens in the re-make, at least the feeling against bots is almost the same as with the old EoD!


Surrounded


You have to defend an US-Camp while Charlie is attacking from all sides!


Sa Pa


Is like Lam Son a very small map with fast fights. It also was very popular in the old game.


Vinh Loc


The third ancient map from EoD. Capture an island that is hold by Vietcong.
But please use one of the boats, helicopters or aircrafts and don't swim ;)


Pleiku Mansion


Is a brandnew map. NVA tries to hold a nobel quarter of Pleiku and gets attacked by a lot of US infantry and tanks. This is harder than expected, because the tanks can logically only be attacked with bazookas, but there are enough of them lying around the hot spots.

Some days ago v4.0.964 was announced, but a damaged file and some bugs with the new korean team caused some trouble.

Update to v4.0.964



A new map, a new soldier team, improvements on the AI and some more realistic sound enviroment are the main things coming with the new update.
And finally! The new version will stop tanks from bouncing like balls if they collide with other things and won't fly around like a balloon anymore.
A script bug fought against the physics wich caused this damn bug that made me go grey :)

By the way: a lot of these changes were suggestions by the community! Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any ideas for improvements or new things to add.
Unfortunately not everything can be added right away.
There are still plans to add a korean soldiers team and another map.

Leaderboard for singleplayer


A leaderboard for singleplayer highscores was implemented so you can compare your scores with others.
I.e. what is the best lap of your friend in Jocoseness racing map?

Weapon sway and weapon accuracy, Stamina


A lot of improvements have been done on all the weapons. Soldiers will sway the weapons more realistic while running and also you can't shoot or reload anymore while running. Also the walk/run/ladder climb/swim speeds have been changed to more realistic values. In multiplayer the stamina was reduced so players can't run around all the time and must be thrifty with their breath.

Finally! Multiplayer bots!


Creating a room and wait for other players can be very very boring and this was the reason why no rooms/players are online most of the time.
The reason was in the code of the AI: no network sync wich can cause a lot of trouble in online games.
Now the bots are synced and you can play with bots and your friends online!
Of course the admin can decide to kick the bots whenever he wants.
The new bots are just available in 'Conquest' mode and maybe will be added to other game modes in a later update.
Of course the bots have been generally improved, so you will notice a difference to the bots in earlier versions of EoD - also in singleplayer!

New maps Da Nang, Face to face and NVA Junglebase


In the last news post Da Nang and Face to face have been introduced.
A third new map is NVA junglebase, wich was inspired by the game 'Vietcong 2'.
Of course it's completely different and not just a clone. The map is very exciting cause it has a lot of corners to hide and 2 tunnels to get to the controlpoints on a differnt way.

A huge update for EoD is pending and almost finished.
The most important changes go to the weapon handling and aiming.
Soldiers will sway the weapon more realistic while running. Also it will be impossible to aim, shoot or reload while running.

Of course the new update will have new maps as well.

Face to face


is a huge area of rice fields wich is ideal for tank battles.
But the map can be played in infantry mode as well.

The video is some weeks old and was made with the old version so you won't see the changes from this update but the map!



DaNang


is a remake of an old EoD custom map with heavy infantry battles.
It was completely rebuild with some new aspects.
US troops will have to storm the beach before they can capture flags.
It's a little bit like Omaha Beach in Vietnam.



Kill Major Shorty


Someone wrote about the -for 15 years- missing EoD mission 'Kill Colonel Kurtz' wich is of course an allusion to the film 'Apocalypse Now'.
Well I'm working on this map but Kurtz is now Shorty and he was degraded to Major and of course it will not be a copy of the film.
But it will have a large river with lots of enemies and a boss-monster at the end of the river :)

Update Release! Eve of Destruction 15 years anniversary!



15 years anniversary


15 years ago the mod-team and the modification for Battlefield were founded.

After EoD for Battlefield 1942 in 2003 the game/modification was released for Battlefield:Vietnam in 2005 and for Battlefield 2 in 2007 before it got a standalone game with EoD-Redux in 2016.

Anniversary discount


We take this anniversary as an opportunity to reduce the price for EoD to around 50% !

Update Release - EoD v4.0.917 available


As announced an updated version is available, which is really extensive.
In addition to a significantly better AI there is now also a campaign-mode, artillery support and many other improvements. 5 new maps increase the mappool to 45 maps!


Campaign mode


You can select a singleplayer campaign and play through different maps now.

AI difficulty


In each map you can select the difficulty of AI when round starts.

New handweapon TT-33


The completely wrong Nambu could at last be replaced by a TT-33 model!


Binoculars for request of artillery support


The binoculars can now requesting artillery support. This feature should be used only on large distances ;)

Spectator mode improved


The spec-camera is now freely rotatable and can be switched to the next BOT by pressing 'K'.

AI enhancements


Bots can be sometimes very difficult.
Everyone does what he wants, nobody does what he should, but everyone joins!
To improve this the AI code has been completely revised.
The result is much more action in game.
Of course it still can happen that a bot still doesn't know where to go first, but this should be reduced to some seconds now.

4 old maps from the early times of EoD and 1 brandnew map were implemented:

Run through the jungle


Two action-packed infantry modes are available and bring a different feel of the game in each mode.


Closefire


A deep gorge, a temple in the forest and huts on an indomitable mountain were the trademark of Closefire. All of this was retained in the new edition and the flair of the map is breathtaking.
As a bonus, this map is also available in zombie mode (night-time)!


Battle of Long Tan


A brandnew map is Battle of Long Tan (1966) where 108 inexperienced Australian soldiers had to defend their base against 2500 Vietcong.
In addition, you can play this map as 'Doorgunner'.


Marble Mountain


If the weather outside is pressing on your mind you should consider playing this beautifulweathermap! The NVA has to take this hill by walking or with the tank...


A Shau Valley


Oldies but goldies. Another conversion of an old EoD map.
