February Dev Log

Hey guys!

I found that many of you may get nervous and fall down several times in the first chapter.
I get that it could be frustrating and you might lose patience over time.
So I decided to take more time to tweak the difficulty curve in the upcoming 4th chapter.



  • Darkness will no longer bring your Sp cap below 50%
    (In other words, you can stay as long as you want in the darkness and still get at least 50% Sp back gradually when you get to the light.)
    (But attacks from monsters can still lower this cap)


  • Removed [Failed Flashlight] event
  • Reduced the damage dealt by [The Hanged Man] in the first chapter.

  • Drastically increased the recovery effect of [Chocolate Bar].

  • Remade/Tweaked some Tarots:
    - [Justice]: Gradually replenish your Sp till it’s full in the light.
    (75% -> 100%)

    - [The Moon]: Gradually replenish your Hp and reduce stress in dark environment.
    (Which reduces the speed of losing Sp)
    (As a hidden card in 2nd chapter, [The Moon] was barely in the play, I thought it’s time remake it.)
    (I made it a little bit harder to find due to its power. Just a little bit.:D )


    - [The Hanged Man]: When taking damage, recover the same amount of Sp.
    (New hidden card in the first chapter)

  • Changed the location of some important so that it won’t take you to much time to find them.(Like for example, the wooden panel)

  • Trying to add an illustration for each event.

    (It’s time to say goodbye to this piece of…um, you know.)


  • Finished the side quest – The Consulting Room of the 3rd chapter, which tremendously enrich the story of the protagonist.

What's up my friends!

I apologize for the long delay, but this time it took me a while to recover before I could continue working.
I know this may not be much, but I'll still log my recent development periodically to let you know my progress.

Jan 2021 Dev Log: (Done but not implemented)

Jan 1st - 10th:
* 10% progress of storyline after Chap. 4

* Added a new memory after getting home in Chap. 3

* Half way through new side quest in Chap. 3, players will need a special item to enter.

* Changed the way the MC dashes:
- In the game, you can dash on forever if you press Z repeatedly though there's a tip that says it's cooling down. So to fix this, a fixed period is now introduced after dashing.

Jan 11th to 20th:
* MC is temporarily immune to damage when interacting with candles.

* Slightly increase the speed of dashing and remove its cost of Sp (except when the Tarot "Chariot" is equipped).

Storyline:



  • Added memory clips when you return to the bedroom in Chap 1&2.
  • Increased daily routine from once to twice.
  • Added an elite enemy in Chap 1: The Hanged Man
  • Somewhere in Chap 2, a small clover is growing. Taking good care of it may bring you bliss.
  • Challenge Level in the cave area in Chap 2 now has clear sign stating it’s not a necessary route.
  • Added a puzzle at the end of the cave area in Chap 2 which requires the character to have the Tarot “Chariot” to pass.


  • Some wooden crates are breakable now, you may get something unexpected.
  • Changed multiple lines in Chap 2&3 to avoid verbal redundancy.
  • Added a plot in Chap 4.


Mechanism:



  • Fixed the bug that caused options not showing correctly.
  • Reduced the initial running speed and sprinting speed, sprint now has a 3-second cooldown.
  • Optimized 4 attributes as the following pics.





  • Significantly increased the healing effect of Bandages, it’ll now prevent you from Bleeding in 30s after using.
    Changed how healing works, you cannot heal yourself when you are Bleeding.
    (It is recommended to bandage up then heal yourself)


  • Added colored Death CG and cut scene CG, all hail the artists!


    (Almost every death has its own CG, you’re welcome to try!)

  • If you’re lucky enough, you may find what you need in the piles of debris.


Chinese Beta Test Branch Lauched!

About the Official Release


- Sorry for the long delay since the last update!
- After opening the beta test, we plan to keep 2 round of development-testing in every 2-3 days throughout July.
- We plan to bring you Chap 4 before August ends in the official branch.
- As planned, we decided to increase the price of the game slightly after every big update until it reaches 25 CNY. Those who have already bought the game don’t need to pay extra.
- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my courses abroad were canceled. My personal state has finally been stabling. So I’ll have more time to focus on the development of the game.
- Again, sorry for the wait, let me explain what this update is all about.

What is a beta test branch?


- It can be narrowly interpret as test version of new content.
- Compare to the main version, you can experience new content much faster here.
- Some content on this branch is not widely tested, so there might be bugs. That’s why your feedback is even more valued here.

Why test branch?


- To complete the game, there are still massive amount of work and localization that need to be done. For those who would like to experience it firsthand, I decided to open this test branch.
- To let you monitor our progress much closer
- To gather more feedback and speed up the development cycle.

How to enter test branch?


- Right click on the game in Library, select Property in the drop down menu. Select “BETAS” in the popped up window. Select [beta] and wait for Steam client to update the game.

Attention!


- Savedata between release version and beta version is not interchangeable.

My fellow gamers!
Although it’s a little late for New Year greetings, I wish you all the best. Please take the time to get some rest and do something you always wanted.

I’m sorry for keeping you guys waiting for the updates of the games.
It’s pretty slow I know but I’ve been putting my everything into developing. I’m adding new puzzles to smooth out the game more. It’s not ready yet but it’ll be the best I can do when it’s ready. Thanks for the wait!


Why is the development going so slowly:


I apologize and feel very shameful about it. Physical inconveniences aside, it’s more mentally challenging than I thought.

The pressure got greater when I decided to present the game to you all.

Whenever I go try another game of this genre, I feel deeply depressed about the imperfections in the game.
To perfect them, it requires lots and lots of energy and inspirations.
To ignore this, I can’t really sleep at night knowing that they exist.
So in the developing of this game, I find myself often in this anxious and annoyed state.

In the meanwhile, both I and my ex-partner in developing this game got caught up in it, emotionally speaking, that we felt the pressure tripled or maybe more, then lead to us parting ways as you all know.

So now, it’s just me who’s been handling the developing alone.
I could handle the workload to be clear but most of the time after I launched the engine, I felt utterly pressured and depressed which often lead to nothing else than giving up.
I’m not saying this to justify what I did but to let you know what my metal state is. I’ll try all I have to conquer the metal barrier and start to get things done. Again I apologize for the slow development and me rambling on.
Please give me a bit more time and I promise you to present you with a game you wouldn’t regret buying.

Sorry for keeping you guys waiting!
Please indulge to talk a bit more about myself, my studio and the recent development of the game.

About Myself and the Studio:

  • I’m currently being treated for chronicle insomnia. The medicine makes it kind of hard to do any heavy mental labor. Sorry for keeping you waiting.
  • I’ve successfully recruited 6 more artist, who will begin to work on the game immediately!
  • Crowd funding went well. It’ll be put into good use and will cover most of the cost.


Ongoing/Finished Projects

  • Add 8 “Game-over CGs”
    (There are 8 ways to die in the game, one for each.)
  • Add multiple [Backer] character to the Easter Egg Room.
  • New Trap: Pitfall
    (A lose tile on the floor, either run through it before it collapses or find another way)
  • New Trap: Welcome Mat
    (Try it! You’ll love it!√)
  • New Mechanism: Pressure Button
    (A design that’s old, but not obsolete)
  • New Monster: The Hanger
    (Like its name, it’ll just hang here. Let’s just hope it’ll stay there forever.)
  • New Scavenging Spot: Trash Dump
    (They are all over the place. See if you are lucky enough to find anything)
  • New Universal Item: Golden Shovel
    (Let you dig a little deeper into the dump, or a lot deeper. )
  • Finished about 30% of the 4th chapter, 70% more to go.
  • 4 more tutorial picture.
  • Icons for every items in the inventory.







New Features:

  • You can now act twice in the night.
  • More activities to do that won’t count as an action.
    (Like watering the flower/washing face etc, will slightly increase corresponding skill level)
  • More puzzles that requires certain skill/skill level to unlock in the night!
  • More [Surprises]
  • Added “Coins”, which you can find during scavenging.
  • A bizarre “Item Broker” will enter the world.
    (You can let buy items from it using coins, and wait, is that a…)

Major Update V0.65.5 *IMPORTANT*

What’s up fellow gamers! I’m happy to announce that the new patch is here!

Direction for This Patch:
Drastically improved the experience of the first 3 chapters, added new features and laid foundation for the 4th and 5th chapter.

Summary (In case it’s TL DR):
- The length of the HP bar will get longer as the Max HP increases.
- Significantly increase the move speed during daily routine.
- Remade some of the night scenes in Chap 1&2 with new features!
- Remade the lighting system, the game now supports Ray Tracing…Just kidding, but you’ll have a clearer view in the dark scenes.
- Remade the hiding system, the cabinet that seemed to be useless may as well save your life!
- Optimized how attributes of Sha, the daily routines will now make a different.
- Significantly balanced and optimized the difficulty of the game, Chap 3 will be a lot easier now.

Details:
1. The Lamp Trap now deals 2 types of damage: it’ll instantly kill anyone who stands in the inner circle where the lamp drops down to; it’ll deal a little bit of splash damage to anyone who stands in the outer circle where the lamps drops down to.
2. You can Dash now at the night of Chap 1.
3. The Tarot [Justice] will only restore your SP to a safe instead of full.
4. Significantly decreased the speed of the Red Claw, it’ll stop for a short while after each attack.
5. The Giant Black Monster will not kill you instantly now but will deal tons of psych damage when it’s near you.
6. The Tarot [Moon] will grant you x2 endurance of psych damage.
7. Added more interactive objects and collectibles.
8. Remade the hiding system, you can now hide inside the closets at ANY TIME, even when chased. But you’ll lose SANs very quickly.
9. Optimized the scenes in Chap 3, you’ll not be instantly blocked by monster when you come out of a door.
10. The experience of the hidden level in Chap 2 will be more exciting.
