Everyday Life Edengrall

Friday Progress Report 370

This week we mostly fixed bugs, there will be another update today with more fixes a bit more of QoL, you will be able to set up the fishing input keys in the settings.

There are also graphical fixes in the custom shaders, but these might take a day or two. And the Fairy was also causing some mischief in the form of crashes, these are mostly fixed from the previous patch, please make sure you report crashes if they keep happening.

While my brother has been busy with fixes I have finished some more 3d models for the foods, one day I want to replace all the current icons with a rotating 3D icons for all items, we also want to make all foods placeable in the world like a Minecraft cake.

I am making an effort to make them lowpoly and with a tiny 64x64 texture since there will be over 200 of them total and we can't have any more performance loss.

We will resume working on the Fairy behaviors after finishing the fixes.

V0.71.1.0

Features:
Fairy now teleports to the player if she gets stuck
Added option to hide magic effects

Bugfixes:
Fixed a possible null pointer relating to poofah animations
Added a failsafe for corrupt save files on the load screen, no longer blocking you from accessing your still working saves
Fixed an issue with the inventory when delivering quest items
Fixed an issue with the shops

Friday Progress Report 369

Right now the Fairy has 3 behaviors that the player can punish or reward.
-When a shimemring critter is spotted, the Fairy will notify you.
-When a critter you don't have yet is spotted she can stop to look at it.
-When you trigger a fluff of Poofahs she will get distracted and play with the Poofah.

Headpatting the Fairy after these will increase their frequency and lower cooldowns, cheek pinching does the opposite.

Now that the system is working we will expand it by adding all the planned behaviors, most of them are helpful, but there will be a few naughty ones like Frog poking and Poofah bullying.

After we finish implementing all the animations we will take a tiny break from the Fairies to add a QoL feature, NPCs will be able to give you tips on critters and fish they request, the collections screen will show spawn location and time.

Then we will return to the Fairies, we will add Fairy furniture, a bed, toolshed and a treats table with the ability for the player to set up food in the table for the Fairy to eat, for this reason I am working on 3d models for many of the recipe types, the player will also be able to just set these up in tables as decoration.

The furniture will be important for the Fairy colony feature, as it will define where they eat, work and sleep.

V0.71.0.0

Features:
You can now pinch fairy cheeks to punish naughty behavior
You can now influence the fairy behavior, headpats reduce action cooldowns while pinching cheeks increase it

Changes:
Adjustments to the headpat
Added a few more sounds to fairy animations
Disabled godrays on the moon and sun until they are fixed

Friday Progress Report 368

Fairies are headpattable right now!

We are now working on cheek pinching as a punishment for bad behavior, it is up to you to punish bad behavior, you can just spoil your fairy with only headpats if you don't mind a bit of misbehaving.

The cheerful fairy personality already has over 70 animations (half is still not implemented) and I am almost done making all planned animations, just a few more and I will start working on the other Fairy personalities (each fairy personality has a different face structure, eye shape as well as animations and behaviors)

I am just missing a few tool use animations and other animations the fairy will play when the colony feature is implemented.

By next week the punishment action should be done and headpatting/punishing the fairy will start affecting the frequency of the last fairy behavior, then we will finish adding all planned behaviors.

V0.70.0.25

Features:
Fairies now look at the mouse while in fairy camera, don't shake your mouse too much!
You can now headpat the fairy
Added sound effect to the fairy actions

Bugfixes:
Tutorial skip buttons now continue working after loading

Friday Progress Report 367

We are finishing the headpat action, to headpat the Fairy you drag the cursor over her head until she starts smiling. We are probably going to release it before next Friday.

For now it will just be a cute action, but in a few weeks these headpats will define how often the Fairy does certain actions, we will also implement emotional states, the Fairy will be able to get sad, angry or happy.

While my brother works on this, I have been creating more assets, Fairy beds, the toolshed for Fairy tools (so they can work on your farm) and the last tools for the player

Most of the new tools will only be added after the Fairy update, during exploration:

Lumber Axe for chopping trees and bushes, Mining Pick for rocks and a Shovel to find hidden treasure.

When it comes to Fairy tools we have decided to not make special tiny tools, but instead have them use the player tools because it will be a lot cuter watching them struggle with it. I am making the animations for it right now.

Friday Progress Report 366

We are making progress on player interaction with the Fairy in the Fairy cam, now while holding F the cursor becomes visible and the Fairy can also see it, she will follow it around.

The next step is to allow players to headpat the fairy using the cursor by holding right click and dragging the mouse over her head.

We are also adding sounds and a squeaky voice to the Fairy, if you prefer the fairy being mute don't worry, there will be a sound setting for the Fairy voice, so you can just drop the slider down to zero.

The behavior frequency changes will be added after we also give the player a way to punish the fairy, like pinching her cheeks, so the first release with the headpats will probably be just cosmetic with no behavior changes.

The headpat/voice update might take a week or two.

0.70.0.21

Features:
Faries now play with Poofahs

Bugfixes:
Fixed multiple nullpointers
Fixed the shop screen amount picker being buggy
Grass rewards are now calculated based on the density settings used during generation rather than currently selected settings
Fixed the crop grass shader, now planted grasses (grains) will correctly display all growth stages
Fixed a null pointer based on a mismatch between Wild and Crop grasses density settings
Fixed more shaders missing normal/depth pass
Actually finally fixed Tiana's wings

Friday Progress Report 365

We are finally back to working with the Fairies, we have a lot of behaviors to implement and possible interactions, both with the player and with the enviroment.

The first one we are adding is the Fairy playing with Poofah, when triggering the escape mechanism of a poofah fluff (fluff is the plural of Poofah), your fairy can choose a poofah to play with.

There are two variants to this behavior, one where the fairy is gentle... and another where the fairy is not very kind to the little bugger, at first we will only implement the gentle variant and the naughty variant will be added after we give the player the ability to change fairy behavior by headpats or cheek pinching.

We will release this behavior as a small update soon.
