We are making quite a lot of progress, the first stage of the fishing battle is implemented, you now have to fight the fish before bringing it to land, the fight is multi-stage and bigger, stronger fish have more stages, each stage changes the music slightly and will also change the fish behavior, getting more intense and the battle rages on.
You battle the fish by following it with the green bar (using A and D to move the bar)

We also added 6 fish this week: Mackerel, Mullet, Tuna (boss fight), Channel Catfish, Flathead Catfish and Luminous Lurker (glowing cave catfish)
We will also add Axolotls to try baiting certain streamers into playing the game :^) They will have a new custom behavior, they are critters, but swim around like fish, they are caught by hand and can be placed into the water, when placed by the player they become permanent and will not despawn.

All of the 70 critters can now be used as fish bait
Some like the crawfish have to be butchered first and used in 50g pieces. Some small fish can also be used as bait for bigger fish. Each fish has at least one favorite bait, some have several, the bait descriptions usually tell you which fish enjoys it the most.
So far we have 18 fish
Sardine, Baitfish, River Loach, Blindfish, Black Bass, Spotted Bass, Stripped Bass, Bluegill, Sea Bream, Red Porgy, Crappie, Sockeye Salmon, Pink Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Crystal Trout, Frostfin Shark and ??????? (Ohh secret!)
Most of the fish are based on real fish, but there are a few fictional ones thrown in the middle.
As soon as we are done fixing some bugs we will be uploading the current build on the Alpha branch.
Next will come the depth-meter UI element, improvement to the charge up for long range throw and more fish, then we will add the fish battle mechanic.

Fishes have a chance to be attracted to the fishing hook, then they will slowly swim towards it and start biting. When they bite there is a chance they will get hooked, just nib it, or lose interest.
Fishes can be then butchered or sold.
Changes: Renamed "Required" to "Recommended" for the recommended skill level for butchering. Tweaked the water shader
Bugfixes: Fixed the issue with nonstop toggling the bugnet special if you held the button

My brother has been hard at work with the fishing, the fishing rod is mostly functional, you can throw the line, change the camera to the floater, pull the line back with a bit of control to left and right.
He is now implementing the lure attractiveness so fishes leave their schools and try to bite the lure, by next week we should have fishes being caught.
On my end there was no progress this week, I spent the whole week planning out and making assets for a kickstarter campaign... only to learn yesterday that kickstarter and other crowdfunding platforms do not support campaigns from Brazil...
I will probably reopen the patreon page since we are running out of options... the sales on the autumn festival have been underwhelming so far.

Fishes are starting to populate the world, my brother is implementing special behavior like swimming away from the player, and leaving the school when lured by bait, so the player can catch them with the fishing rod.
So far we have 13 fish models ready, it will be at least 20 by the end of the month, each fish gives a different ingredient when butchered, so there will be a lot of new ingredients in the fishing update.
This week Ken-san streamed the game, check his channel out!
Not much else to report this week, we had some delays this month, IRL stuff, so the fishing update will probalby be delayed to mid December, but we will make sure to give it more polish to compensate.
