Hi Executives, big patch release tonight so please read carefully whats been added and taken out.

Features & changes



  • Heskosium and Calcite have been removed to help simplify the resource system.
  • Research is now boosted from the power screen.
  • Thorium crystals now yield 20 power.
  • In FPS mode you now get a damage boost, robots deal 3x damage, vehicles 2x damage.This gives you a better reason to now go into your units.
  • Bunkers now have turret hard points allowing you to build turrets for the first time anywhere.
  • The AI's power station can now be self destructed.
  • Health on the TriCruiser, Gigantilator, Heavy Walker, Fortitude tank has now been increased.
  • Can now see the weapon damage and firing rate of units in the design menu
  • New snowy map.

Version 1.11

Hello Executives, since the beta has been going very well and no massive complaints about the multiplayer, I have decided to update everyone to the latest version.

If you are on the ExecuTron branch, please switch back to the standard one by opting out.

This should allow you to play as the ExecuTrons, have much more stable multiplayer games and generally be a much more fun experience.

ExecuTrons allow up to 4 players join your corporation and help you out, if you die as an ExecuTron you will simply respawn back at the HQ.
You can also play as an ExecuTron with an AI CEO in singleplayer or multiplayer.

To use the new ExecuTron mode of game play when you host a game, press the enable ExecuTron button in the list and then pick your slot.

The big slots are for the CEO's and 4 smaller slots under it are for ExecuTrons.

As always please let me know if you find any issues in the bug section.
I will also be continuing my drive to streamlining the resource system.

Send in the ExecuTrons!

Hello Executives,
Today I release the long awaited Executrons for Executive Assault. This will bring you up to version 1.10 which should also fix a load of other bugs.

ExecuTrons allow up to 4 players join your corporation and help you out, if you die as an ExecuTron you will simply respawn back at the HQ.
You can also play as an Executron with an AI CEO in singleplayer or multiplayer.

I know a lot of you might have high expectations such as swords and jet packs but all in all it simply adds the ability to run in a pure FPS mode. I can always add things like that later. My main aim at this moment in time is to test the totally new multiplayer system, so I would like those who are willing to give it a go in a special beta branch I have created.

If you have never opted into a beta branch before on Steam, simply right click on the game in your list and go to properties.

Then click on the beta tab at the top and type in : iloveexecutiveassault
Select Executrontesting from the drop down and then this should unlock the special ExecuTron build of the game.
If the drop down doesn't appear but you have typed the code in correctly, just restart Steam and it should appear.
To switch back to the old version simply select opt out from the drop down list.

This is not the final release of the ExecuTrons by any stretch of the imagination, I am planning on listening to your feedback and implementing it in subsequent builds.

Notes:

  • ExecuTrons can walk up to vehicles and press E to get inside, E will allow you to exit.
  • Pressing L will cause any nearby planes to land near you for you to get inside.
  • When you respawn back at the HQ you will have access to the latest research done by the CEO.
  • Pressing Return will allow you to chat to everyone (team chat will be coming at some point so watch out what you currently say).
  • Anyone can now go into a facility and manufacture their own units however this is deducted from the companies resource pool. CEO's have the option to lock out facility controls.
  • CTRL-D will cause you to self destruct if you get stuck anyway such as wondering over a building being constructed.
  • The HQ has 2 ExecuTron spawning spots.
  • If the CEO tells an ExecuTron where to go, a green beam will appear on the map and a marker in the new compass showing the direction of the marker.
  • The multiplayer might keel over as its been untested with more then 3 players.
  • There is no direct connect any more, however you shouldn't need to worry about opening ports and the server leaving the game.
  • Please come up with some ideas about how to make the first 5 minutes of the game more interesting for ExecuTrons
  • ExecuTrons cannot currently enter TriCruisers or use Troop transports.
  • Be nice to your CEO!


Known Bugs

  • Damage can break stopping anyone from blowing up anything.
  • Occasionally dying as an ExecuTron can crash the game, although I haven't seen it do this in a while.
  • Queuing up over 100 units in a factory can crash the computer.
  • The target areas on a few units are a bit off such as on light walkers you can only do damage by shooting just their feet and not their main body.

Hi executives, quick patch today:

  • The Drone factory now has a proper build queue allowing you to see how many drones are being fabricated. You can now cancel build orders by right clicking on the number too just like at other factories.
  • Minor bug with Iron Extractors not mining iron has been fixed.
  • Asteroids properly drop resources over network.
  • Units FPS speed should match RTS units.

Some of you thought it was a bit harsh of me to make corridors cost 750 iron. So I have added a new system where the first corridor you build is 100 iron, then the second is 200, third is 300 and so on. This should allow you to build nice bases without costing the earth or cheating.

Currently looking at network desyncs, AI base building and of course the Exeuctrons, they are coming along nicely.

Version 1.06.0 and Soundtrack

Hello executives, two announcements today.

Firstly a lot of you have expressed an interest in listening to the music to Executive Assault, therefore I have made available for purchase the soundtrack for you to enjoy which can be found on the store page as DLC, all proceeds will go to the composer.

Second I have been reading your suggestions and comments and have come up with a few solutions that should help make the game more fun.

Gameplay alterations



  • AI now responds to having its Iron extractor attacked.
  • The option for meteors to drop Thorium and Calcite has now been added (default to on).
  • All weapons except the Electron Gun now have their range limited to 500meters. This is just over half way across the map.
  • CEO now has a new gun: the Disassembler, deals about 150 damage per shot.
  • CEO glock is now more powerful.
  • To stop people using corridors as indestructible walls I have introduced a corridor limit which goes up by 2 every time a building is constructed. I have also increased their Iron cost from 100 to 750. Finally they can now be destroyed using the Orbital Laser only.
  • Large turrets now cost 800 iron
  • Tank factory now takes 3 minutes to research
  • Tank factory now costs 3500 iron.
  • Pulse weapons have proper target prediction rather than tracking to help makes things more fair
  • Pressing Shift+F12 now shows the ping in multiplayer games.
  • Damage done by minigun and phased mass rifle has been decreased.


Fixes



  • A random crash has now been fixed which was being caused by announcements.
  • AI now rebuilds its Iron Extractors
  • A second meteor no longer comes down soon after the first one.
  • Chat window now fixed in the multiplayer game setup screen.
  • Pressing Shift+F12 shows ping
  • Can no longer drive vehicles into corridors.
  • You can now direct connect to password protected games.
  • Unit that come out of the portal over multiplayer no longer stutter.
  • You can now rebuild the powerstation after it has exploded.
  • Basic beam laser now does correct amount of damage.


A big thank you to everyone who has brought the game and have been patient while all these little niggly issues are fixed, means a lot to me that you have stuck with it while I continue to improve the game.

I will be looking at adding weapon info so that you know exactly how much damage everything does as well as improving the AI a bit more.

Version 1.05.5

Hello executives,
Great to see so many of you enjoying the game. Seen some amazing multiplayer battles on YouTube as well as some interesting new strategies I would never have thought of.

A few issues fixed today:

  • Troop transporters should now pickup and drop off large groups of units correctly.
  • Troop transporters will no longer automatically drop off troops. You need to first tell them to land and then tell them to disembark. This helps with adding troops to it and should stop confusion.
  • Portals should no longer cause units to turn invisible.
  • I have adjusted the game creation screen so that you can now move slots.
    Pressing a slot will now move you into one.
    Pressing the AI button will now add the AI to that slot.
  • Resources spawning on maps should a be a bit more balanced.
  • Crystals no longer have strange edges.


A lot of you have commented on weapon range, the AI difficulty and the way it rebuilds its economy, rest assured these issues will be addressed soon.

Version 1.05.1

Hello Executives, just a small patch today just to help smooth out gameplay a little which includes:

  • Added pause button to options menu, also 'P' pauses game.
  • Group selecting units now uses CTRL and not Shift.
  • Attack and Guard commands now work when you click on units.
  • Version control has been added for multiplayer games so you cant accidently join a game of a different version.


I am currently working on a guide to help explain some of the basics of the game just in case you prefer reading rather then watching the in game tutorial videos.

I am also working on getting the ExecuTrons out too so you can enjoy some games with them. They are going to take a lot of work getting them all balanced so may do some open beta testing.

In case you missed the memo, an ExecuTron is a player controlled FPS only unit you can play as while the CEO builds and controls the army. If you explode while being an ExecuTron you will simply be rebuilt back at the HQ to fight another day.

The current idea is to have the CEO and up to 4 ExecuTrons can join him in helping to defeat the other CEO's who can also have up to 4 ExecuTrons.
I am also setting it up so that you can join the AI CEO too, so if you just fancy shooting stuff then you can leave it up to the AI to build your base.

When joining an ExecuTron game you will only be able to do so at the beginning when it is being setup, no joining mid game.

Hi executives, hope you are all having a good weekend lasering your friends?

Here is a list of the latest issues fixed:

  • Artillery doesn't destroy internal turrets
  • Cool downs now work.
  • Crystals are now easier to find
  • Crystals now highlighted on the main map when using the mineral scan.
  • Company name is now fixed when change it before starting a game.
  • Drones should no longer have issues floating out of the factory.
  • You can now only build 1 Radar/Research facility and Mainframe.
  • Radar should no longer freeze.

A few more issues fixed:

  • Connecting to multiplayer games should now be more stable.
  • Fixed minimap on Cindar.
  • Base forcefields and energy barrier now appear less powerful when their power bars are reduced.
  • Drones continue their orders if they are asked to build something
  • Electric weapons now cause damage.
  • Quit menu now accessible from FPS mode.
  • Going into interactive mode no longer causes you to fall through the floor of the lift
  • No longer able to kill yourself by shooting the floor.
  • Selina now runs around normally.
  • Using your special weapon does not stop the gun from firing.
  • There is now movement animation when you move in any direction.


Please let me know if the multiplayer connection issue has improved.

Version 1.02.0 hotfix

Hi, just a quick patch this evening to fix some rather annoying issues:

  • Tanks can no longer drive into buildings via a destroyed safety door.
  • Bots can no longer walk through the emergency desk forcefield.
  • I have reduced the muzzle flash on the Phased Mass Rifle as apparently it was a little too bright.
  • The reflection in corridors are no longer green.
  • A few crash bugs relating to a dodgy external script in the game.


Still working on the NAT facilitator issue.
