Hammerheads HQ #3 - June Open Beta Test & Neo T. Rex Co-op Battle
Hey Exofighters,
Welcome to the third Hammerheads HQ post! We had some exciting Exoprimal news recently from both the Summer Game Fest and Capcom Showcase, including the news that we’re hosting a second Open Beta Test from Friday June 16th, 00:00 UTC to Sunday June 18th, 23:59 UTC!
This Open Beta Test is another great opportunity to try out Exoprimal for free and get a slice of the dino-slaying action that awaits you at launch on July 14th. We’ve also mixed things up from the previous beta, removing some of the PvP focused missions and adding in something that’s sure to get those of you that enjoy co-op play and boss fights very amped up. More on that shortly…
Exoprimal Open Beta 2 – This week!
That’s right, Leviathan has summoned up fresh dinosaur super swarms for you to clash with this week!
Open Beta 2 is open to any and everyone who wants to try a slice of Exoprimal ahead of launch and features cross-platform play with and against console platforms too!
Depending on when you see this post, the beta’s pre-load / download is available now, so head over to the Steam store page and get ready for combat! Like in the previous Open Beta, you’ll need a CAPCOM ID in order to play Exoprimal. If you already have a CAPCOM ID account you’re set to go, if not you can make one for free and real quick by clicking here.
We’re changing things up a little bit for Open Beta 2, removing some of the PvP missions and rotating in some PvE alternatives, including a battle so fearsome you’ll need 10 Exofighters working together to even stand a chance…
Prepare yourselves to face the Neo T.Rex and its raptor super swarms! In this fight both teams of 5 must come together to form one uniform team of 10 Exofighters and work together to overcome a truly fearsome co-operative challenge, and one that Leviathan is very eager to get combat data on...
Topple the Neo T.Rex together and you all get the co-operative win, or fall at the jaws of this monstrosity and experience immediate… employee termination together.
To aid you in advance of your clash with a Neo T.Rex, we spoke to Exoprimal’s Director Hiraoaka to get some top tips to make sure you and your team come out in one piece…
A Message from Director Hiraoaka – Surviving a Neo T.Rex Encounter!
Hello, everyone! Exoprimal director Takuro Hiraoka here with some tips for the second Exoprimal Open Beta Test. I’d like to focus on the 10-player co-op Neo Tyrannosaur battle that will sometimes appear as a special mission while playing the beta.
Let’s start with the basics: the body of the Neo Tyrannosaur is covered in growths. These are its weak spots, so you need to aim for them if you want to do any damage, as the rest of its body is invulnerable. The choice of which are is easiest to target will depend on the Exosuit you’ve chosen, so try to think strategically about what abilities you have and how best to use them.
As for the Neo Tyrannosaur’s attacks, you need to watch out for not only moves using its body such as bite attacks, but its laser beam, which is something you probably wouldn’t find on a normal T-rex! You might want to make sure your team’s tank is ready for that one, or perhaps have someone craft a wall. If you see a WARNING! sign on the screen, that means that an AOE attack is incoming, so be aware of your surroundings and think fast about how to avoid it. You may be caught off guard the first time, but if you stay calm you should be able to figure it out. Not panicking is key!
The Neo Tyrannosaurus is one of the strongest Neosaurs in the game, but between 10 Exosuits you should be able to beat it. I hope you enjoy this special mission where you join forces with the opposing team to take this beast down!
Note: The Neo Tyrannosaurus battle in the open beta test has been designed specifically for this test, so you’ll be able to enjoy something a little different when you play it in the full game.
Take note of these tips and you may well emerge victorious after your epic clash. But, be warned, as Director Hiraoaka mentioned, this particular Neo Tyrannosaurus battle has been crafted specifically for the Open Beta Test, so prepare for an even more intense fight full of surprises at full launch.

Bug Fixes & Balance Adjustments
Exosuit Adjustments
Deadeye Deadeye was intended to be an exosuit that excelled at medium and long range combat, but it couldn't perform as expected in the first open beta test. We've made the suit more playable by adjusting the accuracy of its primary weapon and reducing the cooldown time for its Thrust Attack ability. - Ravager: Increased projectile speed and decreased damage dropoff at distance. - Thrust Attack: Reduced cooldown time. Zephyr In the first open beta test, Zephyr dealt far more damage than we anticipated to dinosaurs and exosuits alike. We still want to emphasize the high-risk, high-reward gameplay of Zephyr's maneuverability and melee attacks, so we've opted to slightly reduce the power and effective area of some abilities. - Tonfa Blitz: Reduced damage and effective area. - Linear Strike: Reduced damage and effective area. - Reduced the rate at which Zephyr's Overdrive Gauge charges when attacking dinosaurs. Barrage We envisioned Barrage as an exosuit that can leverage a variety of attacks and abilities to deal damage across a wide area, but it didn't quite reach that level of versatility in the first open beta test. Decreasing the cooldown for Triple Threat and making Barrage's Stun Grenade more effective should allow players to make better use of the suit. - Stun Grenade: Increased damage and altered the reaction of enemy exofighters hit by this ability. - Triple Threat: Reduced cooldown time. Vigilant Vigilant was a bit too good at taking down hostile exosuits from long range, so we've made some damage adjustments to give exofighters more time to repair after being hit by Vigilant. Furthermore, we've also increased the cooldown timer for Frost Lock since Vigilant was excelling in close quarters combat despite its specialization as a long-range sniper. - Railgun Charge: Reduced damage. - Frost Lock: Increased cooldown time. Roadblock Roadblock was nearly unstoppable while guarding with its shield, so we've reduced the shield's durability for balance purposes. Also, we've increased Roadblock's primary attack damage so that players can also choose to go on the offensive when needed. - Haymaker: Increased damage. - Ballistic Wall: Reduced durability. - Reduced duration of the temporary defense buff granted when activating the shield, and reduced the rate of damage reduction while this temporary defense buff is active. Krieger We felt that Krieger performed mostly as expected, but some of its abilities were still limited in their viability. Stunlock Missile will now function as a useful offensive ability instead of only as a mechanic to paralyze enemies. - Stunlock Missile: Increased damage. - Thruster Dash: Changed direction and increased knockback distance of small dinosaurs hit by this ability. Murasame Murasame was still dealing incredible damage even without utilizing its Rasetsu Stance. We've made adjustments to create a clear difference in power between regular attacks and Rasetsu Stance attacks that have been after a Vajra Counter. Similarly, we've reduced the cooldown timer for Vajra Counter so that players can more easily play as a "counter tank" and enter Rasetsu Stance. - Ichimonji: Reduced damage. - Vajra Counter: Reduced cooldown time. Witchdoctor Witchdoctor was underperforming in its ability to repair teammates when compared to other support suits. We've made some of Witchdoctor's repair abilities more potent and made other adjustments so that Witchdoctor can be used as the best exosuit for close-range repairs. - Repair Field: Increased the amount of health repaired and reduced cooldown time. - Feed: Reduced cooldown time. Skywave Skywave's offensive and support capabilities were unmatched whether it was in the air above or on the ground with other suits. Adjustments have been made to Skywave's power, repair potency, effective range, and ability timers. We have also increased Skywave's hitbox to be more in line with its appearance, and to encourage players to use its maneuverability to evade attacks. - Aether Lance: Reduced damage. Reduced amount of health repaired. Reduced the area of direct hit zones. - Optics Jammer: Reduced the length of the vision jamming debuff applied to hostile exofighters. - Expanded Skywave's hitbox to be more in line with its appearance. Nimbus While Nimbus fulfilled its intended role as a dual support/assault exosuit, we got the impression that it was quite difficult to use effectively. We've made adjustments so that Nimbus can better play the support role and have also ramped up its damage-dealing capabilities when it needs to play as an assault suit. Finally, we've made its Overdrive more viable by increasing its damage to a fixed amount. - Mars & Apollo: Increased damage. - Spreadshot: Reduced cooldown time. - Antipode Burst: Greatly increased power. Rig Updates We've adjusted cooldown timers for rigs to incentivize certain playstyles and make rig performance more balanced. - Reduced the cooldown time for the following rigs: Cannon, Shield, Aid - Increased the cooldown time for the following rigs: Catapult, Drill Fist
Mission Adjustments
General Updates Final missions lasted much longer than regular missions in the first open beta test, and victory or defeat was often decided simply by the results of the final mission. We've adjusted the balance of final missions and made it more advantageous for teams to quickly progress through the regular missions. - A variety of balance adjustments to final missions have been made. - Reduced the time limit of final missions. - The team with the most progress when a final mission reaches its time limit will now be declared the winner. Data Key Security Updates Some matches would devolve into a stalemate when the Data Key was being repeatedly destroyed. We've made the following changes to address this. - Increased the movement speed of the Data Key relative to the number of people standing in its proximity. - The durability of a Data Key will increase each time it is restored after being destroyed. Omega Charge Updates The position of target objectives was unclear, and some matches would turn into a stalemate when the Omega Hammer was continually dropped and reset. We've made the following changes to address this. - A nav line will now appear and guide players to the target when the Hammer is fully charged. Target locations can also be seen through walls. - Increased the time it takes for the Omega Hammer's position to be reset. - Energy charged while the Omega Hammer was dropped will no longer be lost when the Omega Hammer's position is reset. Energy Taker Updates Some players had trouble understanding how to acquire energy cartridges, and many times the mission would turn into a PvP stalemate. We've made the following changes to address this. - Reduced the number of energy cartridges required for victory. - A certain number of energy cartridges will appear near each team's starting point when the mission begins. - Energy cartridges will now be gained or lost immediately after an exofighter is defeated. - The number of energy cartridges gained or lost immediately after defeating an exofighter has changed. - Energy cartridges can now be acquired by successfully recalling teammates. - The interval between energy cartridge provision periods has been adjusted.
A number of other, smaller bugs have also been fixed. The Exoprimal team appreciates your interest and support, and we hope to see you in the wargame!

Hammerheads HQ #2 – Exosuit Modules & Director Suit Build!
Hey Exofighters,
We hope you’ve been having a great week so far! Dinosaur forecasts are looking clear for now, but it looks like severe raptor swarms heading this way in July, so please prepare accordingly!
Back to the present, in this post we’ll be delving into one of the elements of Exoprimal’s Exosuit customization system, Modules! We’ve got some new info to share around how the system works, as well as some examples of suit specific modules that can alter the performance of your Exosuit in interesting ways to better enhance your preferred playstyle.
Then, to top things off, we spoke to Exoprimal’s Director Takura Hiraoaka, who’s taken a moment to talk about how they apply modules their favorite Exosuit, Nimbus.
Customizing Your Exosuit - Modules
Exosuit customization in Exoprimal comes in two forms, fashion and function. On the fashion side, you’ll be able to change the appearance of your suits with a range of decals, weapon / suit skins and charms to project your identity in the wargames. Then there’s the function side of customization, this is where you can tune and augment your Exosuit via the Rig and Module system to give it passive buffs and / or modify the performance of the suit’s abilities in interesting ways to fully embrace your playstyle.
You can see how this looks in-game below:
At a glance you’ll notice a few different things here, including the three available module slots, as well as a range of different modules to choose from, all at level 1.
The Modules
In Exoprimal, the types of modules you can slot into your Exosuits come in two different types, “base modules”, in grey, which can be slotted into any module slot on any Exosuit, and Exosuit specific modules, in red, blue and yellow, which come in suit specific, unique sets.
Let’s delve into these modules some more…
Base Modules
Base modules are the foundations on which you can augment your exosuits, granting passive buffs in combat.
There’s a range of different types that you can slot in to fit your preferences, with the Reload Efficiency Module being highlighted in the above image. Unsurprisingly, this will boost your reload speed by 15% at level 1.
Yes, you can level up modules to increase the potency of their effect, and in some cases even add new functionality to them! This is done by spending BikCoins on them, the game’s soft currency, which is earned nice and easily by simply playing the game! (BikCoins cannot be purchased separately via microtransaction etc)
So, once you settle on the modules you like, you can upgrade them for even more efficiency against the dino swarms.
Suit Specific Modules
Suit specific modules differ from their base counterparts in that each Exosuit has their own exclusive set of 6! 2 red, 2 blue and 2 yellow.
Red modules can go into slot 1, blue in 2 and yellow in 3. That means you’ll have some tactical decisions to make as you can only use a maximum of 3 out of the total 6, as well as one module from each pair.
These modules offer interesting and powerful augments to either your Exosuit’s abilities, or their passive performance, which can directly alter how they behave and allow you to further specialize your suit with the modules you prefer. Take another look at the image above to see just one of Deadeye’s exclusive modules if you missed it before.
Much like base modules, these can be levelled up with BikCoins to further enhance their effectiveness and in some cases, add new utility.
Unlocking Modules
Unlocking modules in Exoprimal is achieved by earning exp whilst playing, which will increase both your player level, as well as your individual Exosuit levels.
Increasing your player level will allow you to gradually unlock the base modules, whereas levelling up your favorite Exosuits will earn their suit specific modules. This will reward your experience and mastery of your suits this way, so you’ll be in a great position to experiment and make the best use of these augments in the wargames.
A Message from Director Hiraoaka – Favorite Exosuit Loadout
Ahead of today’s post, we spoke to Exoprimal’s Director Takura Hiraoaka about their favorite Exosuit, as well as how they use the Module system for maximum impact!
Prepare for Director Briefing…
Favorite Exosuit Nimbus
Reason Using Nimbus's holo-warp teleporting ability to move around the map while switching between attacking and healing is great fun. The suit is also just really cute (LOL).
Loadout Explanation This loadout helps extend the reach of Nimbus's tricky movement abilities and also features a regeneration enhancement effect, making it tougher to take me down.
Using N-Quick Holo reduces the holo-warp cooldown time, which, in addition with the Catapult rig, lets me get around the battlefield to pretty much anywhere I want to be. That's what Nimbus is all about!
That said, going it alone can be a dangerous choice, so I've also added the N-Amped Spread to amp up my attack and healing abilities, the better to support my team.
There you have it! An Exosuit loadout example straight from the Director’s personal collection! We even got a closer look at two more suit specific modules and how they can augment your abilities – and that’s with just one example using two out of the possible six unique modules available to Nimbus alone!
Stand by for combat mission
That wraps up our second Hammerheads HQ post!
We hope you enjoyed learning more about how you’ll be able to customize your Exosuits for battle to best suit your playstyle, as well as getting a look at how Director Hiraoaka likes to build his favorite Exosuit! (Support minded Exofighters, feel free to take some inspiration from this for your own use in the wargames…)

Announcing Exoprimal's Final Mission Selection Feature
Some Dino Survival final missions, such as Data Key Security and Energy Taker, feature PvP combat with the enemy team. However, we understand that not all players seek a PvP experience. To that end, we have implemented a final mission selection feature that allows players to choose whether the final mission of a Dino Survival round is PvP, PvE, or random.
Players who select PvE will not play PvP final missions. Instead, they will play PvE final missions and compete against the enemy team for the fastest mission completion time.
Of course, we haven't forgotten about our PvP players! We are currently making adjustments so that players who prefer PvP can enjoy Exoprimal to the fullest.
We hope everyone will enjoy these new features and look forward to seeing you in the wargames. It'll be massively fun!
