Certain planets and races will help you to upgrade your ships equipment up to and over your current level, for a fee.

These are repeatable adventure events, the more detailed story based events will be launched at a later date.

All interface screens have been reengineered to appear centrally on all different sized screens, previously they were left oriented.

A few bits of icon snaz have been added.

nebular cloud effect has been fixed, it had disappeared on a previous update.

Warn if trying to undock with a shield attached to your ship.

Fairspace Update 4th May

Hi,
This is an unscheduled update, I broke something in the network code during the last update and have been forced to go early with this update. Apologies to anyone who has had trouble staying connected to the server for the past few days.

This update Allows the game to be played on your own local server alone, Just you and the AI. Your character is interchangeable between Local and the MMO, You can build a character and set of ships off line and then join the MMO server when you feel you are ready.

This is the Second last update before the planned exit from Early Access, Once I have launched the adventure layer and am happy with the performance of the servers I will exit Early Access.

Thanks.

Fairspace Update 29 April

A necessary staged update to prepare for several key features to launch, There will be very little visible to the user, a few minor tweaks and obscure bug fixes.

This update will allow me to finalise the Local Server and Adventure parser systems which will trigger an exiting from early access once launched.

Fairspace Update 16 Feb 2015

Projectile impacts improved to be a better looking effect rather than just a simple flat billboard.
Sound FX Modifications, Another round and another attempt, Not sure if its any better.
A rewrite of the explosion system and smoke trails, This has in my opinion greatly improved the explosions and impact effects of combat, Destroying enemy fighters is now far more satisfying to do. Space station are much more impressive when destroyed.
Laser weapons fire points and destination now have particle effects to improve the look.
Small tweak to improve the new bloom system, A little more natural.

Secular maps added to models, Secular was generally broken, it isn't anymore.
Planet surfaces removed the excessive secular that made them look glossy, I had been told about this some time ago but never reached it on my list of things to do.

Missiles and torps amended to the new trail and projectile methods. I am concerned about the Damage for missiles and have it under review.

There is a chance that some of the changes to the pixel shaders may not compile for all graphics cards, Posting your qbootlog.txt file will allow me to quickly resolve the issue, The last 20 lines or so will do.

Environment map amended / enhanced, stage 1, This adds to the model effects, I haven't yet decided to do dynamic environment maps, I don't know if its worth the effort.

After you have visited the teleport screen on a planet all the ship location will appear on your map, I will improve this and allow teleporting from the map screen on a later update.

The next round of updates will concentrate on content and adventure, as well as some specific requests.

Fairspace Update 27 Jan 2015

Hi,

The folowing updates have been launched in this version 152 A. Please note that this is a mandatory update as the network protocol and ports have been changed.

Graphs graphic slight change.
Slight network protocol change to fix possible issue talking to worldserver.
Ping Test Implemented in the console / Whilst not connected to any server you can pop up the console and type 'PINGTEST' this will transmit 100 packets to both the account and worldserver testing the quality and speed of your network connection, A summary is presented after the test is complete.
Rewrite of the bloom shader / Reducing graphics memory while improving quality.
Change to the games port settings, Requiring a forced protocol update.
Initial ship changed, Due to feedback I have changed the first ship you get when creating a new character.

Thank you to all those who help push Fairspace forwards and apologies to those players hit by bugs.

Critical Update 30 Dec 2014

A single fix patch, New players had a 50/50 change of crashing when leaving there first docked location. This was an obscure bug completely unrelated between cause and effect.
Apologies to all those players who were hit with this, The majority of which im sure didn't report it.

Small Joystick Update. 22 dec 2014

An additioal option in the settings screen allows for a Joystick Look Spring.
Whilst in flight mode, enabling look spring will let your joystick control the position of the firing point in a analogue way so that each movement extent is in relation to the screen. The alternative is for joystick movement to directionally move the cursor. This mode is only advisable for real joysticks rather than gamepads.
Enabling look spring will stop your mouse movement from functioning whilst in flight mode.

Mini Patch 16 Dec 2014

A small release to fix a few bugs, the main development path is on the adventure parser so until that is done only small necessary fixes will be released.

New graphics for 4 weapons. The Massier,Chemelion, rascal and miscreant.
Joystick / mouse integration issue fixed.
Mouse screen extents issue possibly fixed.
A small change to the welcome screen that.
