Card Changes



  • Added animation to Lost Soul's Last Words trigger
  • Changed +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters into strength and weakness counters. This simplifies design by making so these counters affect each card differently - strength counters increase attack, health, and armor, where it makes sense (for example, an armor card will not gain attack or health, but will gain armor), while weakness counters do the opposite
  • Changed Blacksmith's effect to choose between two strength counters on a follower or one strength counter on a weapon or armor
  • Slightly improved CPU players' intelligence with certain cards

Version 40 Update 1 - Improved art and Bugfixes

Version 40 - Big Changes

Major Changes




  • Improved the art assets used in most of the game
  • Added different screens for each screen aspect ratio (work in progress)

Card Changes



  • Numbing Sphere is now 5 cost and 2 justice (up from 3 cost and 1 justice)
  • Anthe Ringwarden (Follower)'s last effect now reduces 2 cost in total instead of 1 per essence
  • Cawn (follower)'s first level up effect must target other characters
  • Flareo now costs 9 mana and 4 passion, and their buff is now +2/+2 (was 7 mana, 3 passion, and +3/+3)
  • Fountain Elemental's justice cost is now 1 (down from 2)
  • Gauntlet of Power's self damage effect only happens from card effects you control
  • Hon Sweetperson's cost is now 5 (up from 4)
  • Hunted has an additional mode: "Scout, then draw two cards"
  • Nalari Skyseeker's cost is now 5, life cost is 3, and attack is 3 (up from 4 cost, 2 life, 2 attack)
  • Nurturing Elemental's cost is now 3, attack is 2, and no longer has tactician (up from 2 cost and 1 attack)
  • Paw's once per turn effect no longer requires the card to cost less
  • Redan Captain's passion cost is now 3 (up from 2)
  • Redan Thief's darkness cost is now 2 (up from 1)
  • Restoring the Ruins's effect can now target a player
  • Shadow Assassin's level up effects have had their order changed to stealth at level 1, deal damage at level 2, and put counters at level 3
  • Supplies can target characters now, costs 3 mana, 2 passion, and 2 life (up from 2 mana, 1 passion, 1 life)
  • The Shadow now costs 5 mana and 3 darkness (was 6 mana and 2 darkness)
  • Warrant's justice cost is now 3 (up from 2)
  • Solar Eclipse's cost is now 4 and its passion cost is 3 (up from 3 mana and 2 passion)
  • CPU should use Restoring the Ruins properly now
  • Dina (Follower) is now a human crab and her effect affects non-crab followers only

  • CPU handles guardians better
  • Hands are now closer to the viewer
  • Added multiple death phases when players are being removed (so some cards won't be stuck without being cleaned up)
  • When selecting a target, the card asking for the target will appear on the side for widescreen and ultrawide screens
  • Added zoom effect to a player when they are defeated, instead of fading in and out
  • Added slight rotation to cards that are resting or have summon sickness
  • Added target assist to accessibility options
  • Added essence assist to accessibility options
  • Added new in-game hero frame to simplify UI
  • Moved deck and discard to the right
  • Fixed being able to add more copies of a card to a deck than what the player has

Version 39 Update 5 - Fixes to Audio, Card Balancing, and more

Major Changes



  • All audio is now adjusted for -16 db, for better experiences with headsets
  • Added sound effects for Crustacean Recruit, Flareo, Grove Prowler, Grove Tyrant, Guard Patrol, Advisor of the Tribes, Master Construct, Flame Elemental, King of Beasts, and Nurturing Elemental
  • Added sound play button to cards in the collection
  • Adjusted weekly chest rewards to give a pack every 4 levels and 50 gold every 2 levels


Card Changes


This update does some card balance changes to try to improve the overall player experience as some cards felt too good or too bad to play at times.
A lot of these changes are minor and shouldn't affect the game too much.


  • Changed Advisor of the Tribes to 1/1 (down from 2/3)
  • Changed Cawn, Supporting Ally's Life cost to 3 (up from 2)
  • Changed Commune with Nature's cost to 1 (down from 2)
  • Changed Crustacean Recruit's effect to "Deploy - summon a 1/1 Solider follower token with Guardian"

  • Added support for extra card copies in custom game modes (if you have a game mode with more than 4 copies allowed and you have at least 4 copies of that card, it will act as if you have the maximum copies)

Version 39 Update 4 - Networking fixes, Card Balancing, new sound effects

  • Optimized networking massively, multiplayer games should be much smoother now, and fixed several networking bugs
  • Disabled Reconnect support temporarily due to bugs
  • Re-added Fullscreen Switch (Alt+Enter to swap between windowed and fullscreen, PC only)
  • Added sound effects when playing or summoning Armored Companion, Dina Guardian of the Sea, Darkness Hunter, Darkness Lookout, Cursed Beast, Crab, Construct, Beast, Blacksmith, Fountain Elemental, Grove Guardian, Guardian Soldier, Inviting Soul, Master of Undeath, Redan Mender, Varlari Necromancer

  • Changed Arfactus cost to 10 (down from 12)
  • Flames of Greed now triggers whenever any card goes to an opponent's hand
  • Paw's trigger now triggers to explore for any card that has any essence of the card played
  • Changed Souls' Eruption's effect to "Deal X damage to target character, where X is the amount of followers that were destroyed this turn"
  • Changed Souls' Eruption darkness cost to 2 (down from 3)
  • Changed Reinforce the Guard to again be half your Justice instead of full
  • Changed Sul Quillcroft's return card from discard effect to require discarding two cards before doing so
  • Changed Dragon Raid bosses HP to 30/40/50 (from 20/40/60)

  • Fixed a critical lobby bug that kept players from being able to play together in the official server

  • Reduced starting renown reward to 2000 (down from 10000), due to giving too much at the start
  • Replaced Booster Box with 3 Card Pack Bundle
