Thanks for your patience.
Happy Holidays from Bethesda Softworks!
With the holidays upon us, we wanted to take a quick break to wish all of you the very best. Thanks to you, we’ve had quite the year. Here’s a quick look back at what’s happened at Bethesda in 2015.
Fallout 4 was announced at our first-ever #BE3 showcase, and fan fervor reached a level we’ve never seen! Less than six months later the game was in your hands, and its release was a record-smashing success. But, most importantly, we’ve been amazed by all of your incredible stories and brilliant fan creations. Keep playing and sharing your adventures, your settlements, your amazing characters and more. And remember: Bethesda Game Studios is just getting started. Stay tuned in 2016 for the release of the all-new Creation Kit and Fallout 4 DLC content.
Speaking of Fallout… Fallout Shelter arrived on iOS immediately after it was announced at the #BE3 showcase. While it’s a free-to-play game, it quickly rocketed to the top of the Apple charts, grossing more than Candy Crush Saga soon after it was available! Since its initial release, it also arrived on Android and has seen numerous updates that have enhanced the gameplay (including pets!). Capping off an enormous first year, Fallout Shelter was named by Apple as a “Best of 2015” title, and recently Google named Shelter one of the best overall games in the Google Play store.
2015 was also a massive year for The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. Not only did the game arrive on console – opening up ESO to a host of new players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – but it dropped the mandatory subscription, allowing anyone to play as much as they liked once they purchased the game. Along with numerous other improvements and additions – including the popular Crown Store – ESO has come a long way since its launch, earning the highest praise from MMORPG.com, which named ESO the Best MMO of 2015! (Also, there’s still time to enter for a chance to win a million dollars. More here: ESO Million Dollar Sweepstakes.)
DOOM blasted its way back into the hearts and trigger fingers of eager fans. After a riveting reveal at our #BE3 showcase, DOOM stormed QuakeCon, where attendees lined up to try their hands at multiplayer. With a couple of closed Alphas late in the year, DOOM is now gearing up for Beta then launch in spring 2016. We’ll be talking a lot about DOOM here on Bethesda.net along with all our social channels, so keep an eye out for more!
DOOM wasn’t the only FPS making headlines in 2015. We also released Wolfenstein: The Old Blood – a standalone prequel campaign set in the world of Wolfenstein: The New Order. A journey back in time for B.J. Blazkowicz and crew, The Old Blood introduced some killer new gameplay mechanics while sending players on a real nostalgia trip – delivering a big B-movie-style adventure with brutally fun gameplay.
Brutality took center stage with the release of DLC for The Evil Within. Starting in March, fans got to explore Krimson City from a different perspective, playing as detective Juli Kidman in The Assignment and The Consequence. Then in May, players got to (literally) see evil from the inside with The Executioner, a first-person series of sadistic challenges carried out by the ruthless Keeper.
And finally, Dishonored 2 was another big surprise when it was announced at our #BE3 showcase, with the reveal of a fully playable Emily Kaldwin emerging as one of the top stories of E3 2015. While awaiting the launch of Dishonored 2, players have been tiding themselves over with the current-gen release of Dishonored Definitive Edition, which released in the summer – complete with upgraded visuals and all the DLC included.
Happy holidays from Bethesda Softworks! We look forward to seeing you here again in the New Year!

Thanks and Updates
Thank you! We can't say it enough- thank you for the amazing support you've given us. We're incredibly blessed to have so many incredible fans. You've made Fallout 4 not just our largest game launch ever, but one of the industry’s. It's beyond anything we hoped for.
Seeing and reading your stories has given our whole studio immense joy. It's amazing to see what you've done with the game, what you've discovered, and what you've built! We know there's even more to come; the game is full of hidden gems and ways it can be played.
For some, the freedom the game offers can be overwhelming. We know the game throws a lot on you at once, so take your time. There are many moments of “How does this work? What do I do to survive?” and that’s how your character should be feeling as well. Those that push through should be able to look back at who they were when they stepped out of the Vault and say, “I made it. I understand this world now and it’s mine.”
It's true that the freedom our games offer you can lead to unintentional consequences that are sometimes bad, when the game combines too many unexpected elements at once. Given the scale and complexity of the systems at work, especially when allowing you to build your own settlements, we're happy that Fallout 4 is our most robust and solid release ever, and we'd like to thank our amazing QA staff who worked as hard as anyone to break the game so we could fix it during development. But a hundred testers will never replicate the many millions playing the game now, and we're hard at work addressing the top issues.
Our process for updating the game will include releasing a beta patch on Steam, followed by full release on PC, then release on the consoles. This process has worked well for us in the past and allows us to get more fixes out faster. Expect to see more updates, that are smaller and more frequent, than a few big ones. This allows us to make sure each fix is working right, as any change can have unintentional side effects in a game this huge. We expect the first beta patch to be up next week.
If you have feedback or issues to let us know about, contact our support staff here.
Thanks again for everything. We look forward to our continued journeys together.
