Not so long ago we've had the pleasure to show you our refreshed courier... but wait, there's more!
You know how it is - a knight can be skilled and dedicated to his job but it's their trusty stead that will bring them to their destination. As that is the case we know that we cannot simply improve one element of this combo without the other. A knight's armour received some polish, let's do the same for his mount!
Our truck has never looked better, I'd say! Look at the mighty logo it display on its side, look at the tires and lights! The visualization of the truck you can see above and below is the greatest showcase of what we intend to do with the ride. We want it to feel safe but at the same deserving proper respect and invoking in you the feeling of riding in a classy drive.
It will be safer, it will be faster and it will be more reliable than our old truck, we're completely sure of it. But we are also very interested in your opinion! How do you like our renewed truck and the visualization we've prepared for it? We're all ears (or, in this case, eyes)!
Thank you for checking in with us this week and see you next time!
Fat[EX] Courier Simulator - Devlog #68 "That's not how you park!"
Hello Couriers!
Sometimes you will be hard pressed to find a parking spot but that does not mean that you should not pay attention and break the law without a care in the world!
Let's start with the easiest example - what you see on the screenshot above is absolutely unacceptable! Expect a Police to haul you car away and get a big fine if you park your truck like that. Middle of the street is not the place to park your car and that does not change even if the street is remote one or very rarely used. You need to find a proper parking spot if you want to deliver your packages to a house nearby!
It is also completely unreasonable and not permissible to park on the estate of the customers - especially so if they were not contacted about it previously. You might cause damage to the property and you and your company will have to face fines that might be really high. You definitely don't want to lose your job over a moment of weakness and laziness!
Additionally - you cannot park in any green spot you see. Those are most likely private properties and if you park there you risk getting another fine or at least warning. Besides it's simply rude to drive over a land owned by someone else. Perhaps they are cultivating some vegetable there or a construction will start on the land in next 15 minutes? With your truck parked there... well, it would be a true catastrophe!
Thank you for checking in with us this week and see you next time!
Fat[EX] Courier Simulator - Devlog #67 "What is that building over there?"
Hello Couriers!
Big city = many buildings. Will you even have a chance to check them all during your deliveries?
In many screenshots we've shared you could see many different buildings - from smaller huts and houses to big skyscrapers, they're all here. However - what are the most common buildings you could see in the city? What is something that you would definitely expect to be in the big city? Is there any building that simply must be in a city and without that one you wouldn't even be able to call the place "a city"?
Avocado Bar is nice and dandy but perhaps it's not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about city. Banks, offices, supermarkets and stores - those are all that might take precedence over some simpler buildings. But what would you say is a vital building to see in the city? We're quite interested in your thoughts regarding this topic.
Big, long city halls are something that will definitely find its place in the game. Perhaps you will be even able to deliver some packages to that kind of place? We can imagine the number of packages that you would have to deliver to a place this big... will you even be able to do that? Well... of course you will!
If you have any ideas for cool or necessary buildings be sure to let us know!
Sometimes changes are necessary - they can be refreshing and make you feel ready for any challenge!
Above you can see our courier as we had seen him in many adventures up until this point. With so many deliveries and so many missions under his belt even he can feel a little bit tired! In order to give him some new strength and energy to face another day we offered him a chance to change his looks a little bit and we're happy to say that he agreed! And as such we started planning his big reveal! Below you'll see the work we've done up until this moment - we're happy to say that he instantly became full of energy!
New clothes can make a world of difference! As summer is coming we decided on more casual and lighter clothes - he is now ready to face all deliveries no matter the heat! We also spent some time on working on his physique so he might seem a little bit different to you! His face was also changed - he feels more approachable now which might be essential in his line of work. Maybe it's us but he also seems happier - and that's very important!
Clothes might change but we needed to make sure that people will know that he is in fact a courier - the logo is still displayed on the back of his shirt to make sure that he can be recognized even from a far or if he is walking back to his van after a succesful delivery. Afterall not all heroes wear capes but this hero has his own way of showing off his status!
How do you like our new model for a courier? Let us know in the comments!
Fat[EX] Courier Simulator - Devlog #65 "Variety in packages!"
Hello Couriers!
Packages come in different sizes and are made of different materials. Even their purpose can be varied!
Take a look at the simplest of the packagings. It seems very easy to produce, yet it is so elegant! This little blue box that our courier is holding might be a house to a myriad of dreams depending on what the person who ordered the packaging wanted. Sometimes it's very tempting to look into a small box like this one but be careful - you should never violate someone's privacy!
This type of boxes are designed for heavy lifting. You can put a lot of things inside and they're not as easy to destroy as it would seem. By the way - did you know that cardboard boxes are more than 100 years old? The first one got patented in 1903! That's a lot of history behind those containers that we're used to seeing here and there. Let's treat it with respect. In the case of our courier - he's patiently waiting behind a defensive wall consisting of carefully stacked boxes. Nothing can hurt him there!
Some deliveries might even happen in this kind of boxes. Not the usual job but if a customer pays well... Why wouldn't we? We're a delivery service after all and if someone wants us to deliver a particular set of things then who are we to judge?
We appreciate you checking in this week. Take care and see you next one!
Fat[EX] Courier Simulator - Devlog #64 "So many deliveries!"
Hello Couriers!
Ah... Nothing quite like the smell of multiple deliveries in the morning...
...although after a moment of peaceful bliss you realize that you don't have quite the time to sit around idly and drink coffee because you need to run right now to your truck and start delivering packages or the complaints won't stop!
Get into your truck and move on! There are many packages to be delivered and a little time. You'll have to do your best in order to reach them all and have your customers be satisfied with the time of your arrival. Make sure to drive carefully yet quickly because with this kind of amount of work you'll definitely want to step on the gas pedal.
Just a few more and you'll be all done... but at what cost? Days like today can be quite stressful but sometimes you'll have to deal with it too! After all you're the best in this line of work and many rely on your professional services!
Thank you for filling out the achievement survey from our last devlog!
We're happy to see you engaged in our activities and to see your opinion about the achievement systems. We've received many answers for the questions we asked last time and we're happy to share some of the answers to our survey. What is more - we've received many messages of encouragement and positive feedback and we are absolutely thrilled to hear that! Thank you very much for your kind words!
Interestingly enough fans of our project are split almost evenly among fans of achievements and players who don't really care that much about that particular feature of the game. What it does tell us is that even though most of you don't necessarily dislike the achievement system we would be wise to make the system within which achievements would be more subtle. This is something that we will definitely consider when working on this particular feature of the game. Those of you in favour of the achievements said that they give you a goal to work for - which in itself is an important thing to consider.
As it turns out - some of you tend to decide on playing the game in relation to game having an achievement system or not. Broadly speaking you also prefer to have more achievements in the game than less. It makes the game more engaging and feel like there is another extra goal you might want to reach.
Is the dog gone yet...?
While you would like to see serious achievements in the game, almost all of you is in favour of having at least some funny achievements in the game too. As Fat[EX] Courier Simulator tends to lean a little bit more into a funny parody style of gameplay we're happy to hear that.
Now let's focus on the achievements you yourself have submitted - we are very thankful for all of them and we've got to say that there were some that we've particularly liked and found funny.
"Get chased by a customer's dog and not get bitten" - we can definitely see the potential here, thank you for the submission!
"Throw all the packages into you customers' faces" - a little bit mean but we understand the general appeal here!
"Talk to as many people as you can" - a true social buttefly kind of delivery guy!
Thank you for your participation in our short survey and see you next week!
Fat[EX] Courier Simulator - Devlog #62 "Achieve your dreams!"
Hello Couriers!
We all love achievements and bragging about them!
This time we'd love to direct some questions at you! Below you'll find a short survey form that we'd love if you could fill out for us. There are just a few questions regarding the achievements you'd like to see in the game and how important are they for you. Please - spare us few minute and fill it out if you have time!
When we think about delivery achievements we tend to group them in two separate categories - fun achievements and serious achievements. As you might imagine the fun achievements are somewhat light in their nature - stuff like deliver a package without using your truck at all or fail all deliveries. Those are very specific and sometimes might be over the top. Serious achievements are more about the efficiency of your deliveries - for example delivering the packages with a large time limit still outstanding or making sure that all deliveries are undamaged.
We'd also love to hear your thoughts about the achievements and that is why below you'll find a short form. Please let us know about your ideas, thoughts and suggestions - we'd be more than happy to check through them! Cheers!
Your package is the most important item - guard it with your all might!
State of the package your are delivering to your customers is very important. After all if it's completely tattered, dirty and whatever is inside seems to be broken no-one will accept that kind of parcel. Customers might file a complaint and the company that used your services might refuse to ever work with you again! Of course, sometimes bad things happen but if the start to happen repeatedly...
Take a look at the package above. Notice 4 colourful squares? In our game those will represent "lifepoints" of our package. Package might lose lifepoints whenever something dangerous happens to it. For example, if you have the idea to throw the package over the fence you cannot expect that it will stay in the completely same state it was before that fantastic thought came to your mind! Package might lose healthpoint in a variety of situations.
Now we're down to one last health point - we need to be extra careful with its delivery. Anything bad happens to it and it might turn ugly really quick. Make sure to handle the package very thoughtfully and carefully. Perhaps maybe deliver it by hand? If you put it in the storage area of your truck you still might risk that something will happen to it during the ride... ah, it's very problematic now!
However if you fail one more time... it's the screen above that you will have to meet in your playthrough. Losing 4 points means that package is in a state that is unacceptable and you simply need not to deliver it anymore - it will not be accepted anyway.
Fat[EX] Courier Simulator - Devlog #60 "New UI elements"
Hello Couriers!
In some of the screenshots we've posted previously you might have seen some of these but we have implemented new UI elements in the game!
Whenever you feel lost within the game and cannot find your garage the only thing you need to look for is a storage icon, as presented on the screenshot above. Thanks to it you'll always have the way to find where you should be going next in order to start a new courier mission. Your garage is almost your home so you instinctively know where it is located! Isn't that neat?
What is more we have redesigned the minimap to look more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It has a nice round shape with orange glow and it shows all of the important incons for your convenience sake. It will also show where you need to go acting almost like a compass of sorts - covering all your most important navigational needs!
We've also prepared a special indicator for the boxes and parcels that are important for your current mission. This way you'll never mistake the packages and your customers will always leave you a 5 star rating for your work. A happy customer is a happy courier!
Notice also that after you enter the car you will be able to check your speedometer - to make sure you're not driving to fast make a habit of checking it periodically. If you have picked up your package and put it in the storage of your truck the indicator will also change and it will now show you the place you're supposed to go to - making your delivery so much more smooth.
Thank you for checking with us this week - take care!
