We’re about a month away from releasing Fictorum, with our plan to release on August 10th! We have added more events and polish to our game in version 0.9.6, which will be our last major beta release with v1.0 coming soon.

Major Change: Event Improvements
The scroll holder isn’t final yet, but this gives a good idea of what our new event window will look like. We’re really happy with how it’s come out.
Also we’ve added a significant amount of new events to Fictorum. This should help give more variety as you play through Fictorum.

Chip has been hard at work making sure Fictorum looks as good as we can make it and has made some modifications to some of our visual effects.

About two months until Fictorum releases! We’ve had a fantastic couple of weeks of development and polishing our game, as well as a very successful day of marketing—We created our E3 digital booth and added new mail and leather armor sets.
E3 Digital Booth
Last year during E3, Greg put together digital booth to share our game during the convention, as there was no way that we could afford to go, regardless of acceptance. The post did very well on both Reddit and Imgur. This year, however, our shoestring budget is looking more and more frayed; we still wouldn't be able to go to E3, so we decided to do another digital booth during E3. We created a gallery in Imgur and submitted it to /r/gaming. To our extreme surprise, this year's digital booth was wildly successful, putting on the front page of reddit, up to #1 on /r/gaming, and #1 on Imgur!

As getting the word out is one of the hardest battles to fight as an indie game developer, this has been a huge victory for our team—We are so immensely grateful for the incredibly positive response that we've received from the gaming community!

Major Change: Leather and Mail Armor
Leif has been hard at work crafting fresh sets of leather and chain armor for the Fictorum and enemies to wear.

We wanted to make armor matter a bit more and have made a significant change to itemization in this patch: The heavier the armor, the greater the hit to spell range and speed. We think this is a great choice, providing tougher armor for those preferring to crush their foes at close range.

Two more weeks down and our August release draws closer. We’re proud of the state of Fictorum, especially with the latest patch, which has a new Spellblade melee ability and destructible damage changes!

An intrepid Fictorum can encounter the powerful Spellblade ability, enabling the wizard to overpower enemies at close range.

Consider yourself warned: Falling rubble now deals damage to player in Easy, Medium, and Hard difficulties as well! The damage dealt is greatly scaled by difficulty.

Howdy mages—One more beta patch down! We've replaced all of our old destructible castles and towers with brand new ones. Additionally, the amulet slot has been changed to a pauldron slot, allowing for more dynamic characters.

Major Change: New Pauldrons Slot
We made the choice to replace all of our amulets with pauldrons. Seeing as how pauldrons actually appear on the character model, we thought this was a much more interesting way to do our itemization. If you have an existing character, your amulets will be changed to either a cloth or plate pauldron.

Improved Spell Decals and Effects

Improved Fire Manifestation
You might have noticed above that Fire spells with a Manifest rune or a high Manifest multiplier will spread fire based on the radius of the spell—You'll see a big difference on larger spells like Flame Strike and Meteor.

Trees
We’ve been distracted by the terrible look of our trees once destroyed and Chip decided to do something about it. Trees not only look better after being hit by a spell, but they can be used tactically to destroy buildings, enemies, and other trees!

Evil Quests
We’ve decided to start including evil quests into event rotation. Want to purge a town of citizens? Destroy key structures in a village? Have at it! We’ll be adding in more of these types of quests as time goes on.
