First off, we want to thank everyone who has supported us thus far. Your feedback and enthusiasm for the game have been incredible and we're thrilled to see so many players enjoying Filthy Animals.
We appreciate all the suggestions and ideas players have been sharing with us on Twitter and on our Discord. A couple of patches have already been released to fix some of the most pressing issues, such as improving control, optimising performance and tweaking balance.
Multiplayer & Network issues
We understand that some of you have been experiencing lag issues in multiplayer. We have been actively working on optimisations, namely the game's CPU usage. These improvements will result in improved frame rates and reduced lag in multiplayer.
Here are some best practices:
Filthy Animals relies on peer-to-peer networking. Therefore, we recommend that the player with the highest specs and/or the most stable internet connection hosts the session.
While we support the use of Steam Remote Play, we recommend that all players acquire a copy of the game and use the online multiplayer feature for the best experience. We know Remote Play can introduce lag and other issues that can negatively impact gameplay.
There are now fewer requirements to complete a level. Completing 3 objectives is enough to unlock the next heist (instead of the current 4).
Escaping countdowns have also been extended slightly (because we're being nice)
Adjustments were made to the Supermart and Bank levels to balance the difficulty and make sure you complete the level while having fun and progressing to the Nuclear Powerplant Level.
Other improvements
Improvements to mouse and keyboard play, especially for those who play with high DPI (still pick up a controller for the best experience)
100's of stability fixes and improvements for offline and online play
Localisations have had a large number of improvements, particularly for Simplified Chinese.
Changed “Multiplayer” to "Online Multiplayer" in the main menu

The wait is nearly over - Filthy Animals: Heist Simulator has a release date!
That's right, you'll be able to grab your friends, form a gang, and start a new life of crime as mutant animals on the 4th of April, 2023. To celebrate, it'll also have a 20% launch discount!
We're incredibly excited about releasing our game into the world. We can't wait for you to get your hands on our colossal cavalcade of crime-filled chaos and we hope you have as much fun playing it as we have had making it.

Our playtests were an amazing experience for us, we want to thank everyone who took part and who gave us feedback about Filthy Animals.
We’ve been reading everything you’ve sent and are hard at work incorporating your feedback into the game. We can’t share everything we’re working on just yet but we thought it would be cool to take a peek at some of the stuff we’re working on based on your playtests feedback.
Expanded Tutorial
One of the key notes we received during the playtests revolved around how players control their mutant animals. We already have a tutorial level - The Sewers - but we’ve decided to expand and make sure everything’s just that little bit clearer so you can get into the game with confidence.
So when you run through the level you’ll be able to see holograms of mutant animals performing the actions you need to do. From picking up items and gathering loot to throwing objects and raising your mutant arms, our helpful holograms will show you exactly how to do everything.
You’ll be able to replay these holograms as many times as you want and you can always restart the Sewer level from the level select screen - so if you ever forget how to play or need a reminder of a mechanic, you can fire it up and reacquaint yourself!
We hope that this will help make getting started with Filthy Animals smoother and get essential gameplay info to you quicker and easier, giving you more time for crime, eating tacos, and CHAOS.
Performance Enhancements and Tweaks
We know not everyone has the most powerful computer on the planet and we want to make sure as many people as possible get the chance to play Filthy Animals.
One of the things we’ve been working on over the last few weeks is optimization. There are many small changes we’ve been able to make that help boost performance on all systems - especially lower-spec PCs - without compromising how the game looks and feels.
There’s more work to be done regarding performance, our job isn’t finished yet, but Filthy Animals has already received a considerable performance boost - with more to come!
The Road to Release
We haven’t announced a release date just yet but everything we’re doing is focused around getting Filthy Animals ready for launch. We’re smashing bugs, fixing little errors, and putting that final level of polish into the game.

Break the Bank in the Filthy Animals Online Multiplayer Playtest!
Our final online multiplayer playtest is here and we’re going out with a BANK!
Get more bank for your buck in the Bank Heist, a colossal cavalcade of multiplayer chaos, when you play Filthy Animals for free from now, February 10. You’ll get the whole weekend to grab your friends and form a gang before the playtest ends at 18:00 UTC on February 13.
If you’ve been waiting to play for free then this is your last chance to grab yourself a slice of the action. Choose your mutant animal, follow Tony’s orders, and take on the bank heist alone or with up to 3 friends - just make sure you make it out alive!
The Bank Heist will see you break into a well defended bank, defeating armoured guards and overcoming fiendish puzzles before making your escape from the rooftops - it’s a classic heist and we can’t wait for you to test this chapter.

Filthy Animals Online Multiplayer Playtest - The Nuclear Heist!
The Filthy Animals are back with more madcap multiplayer mayhem and this time we’ve harnessed the power of SCIENCE!
Between Friday, February 3 from 17:00 UTC and Monday, February 6 at 18:00 UTC you’ll be able to smash into the Nuclear Heist, a brand new set of levels for you and your friends to break into. Filled with more dastardly traps, furious guards, and fiendish puzzles than ever before, this chapter from later in the game is ready for all of you to test.
If you haven’t played Filthy Animals before - don’t worry, the tutorial level is still included so you can get up to speed. If you’ve played the previous playtests, this will give you much more to get your teeth into, with one huge chapter spread over several chaotic levels.
We’ve also been hard at work listening to your feedback from the earlier playtests, implementing fixes and quality of life improvements, and optimizing the game to make sure you and your gang can get heisting better.

The Filthy Animals Online Multiplayer Playtests are back!
From Friday 27 January at 18:00 UTC to Monday 30 January at 18:00 UTC you’ll be able to grab your gang and start stealing in the next online multiplayer playtest session. So many signed up in the first session that we couldn’t fit everyone in, so now there’s a whole extra weekend for you!
We’ve been hard at work making changes, reading your feedback, and making sure our playtests are better than ever. We’re actively developing Filthy Animals and are continually refining the game based on your feedback so telling us what you think is essential. Thank you if you've already given your feedback, it's been invaluable in helping us make Filthy Animals bigger and better.
