Fixed C++ runtime error
That being said, we’re constantly checking up on you on Steam, Discord and all of our social media. And we recognised a recurring issue with C++ runtime error.
This should no longer be a problem as we managed to solve it! The error shouldn’t come up anymore, please keep us updated if you encounter any weird issues in that matter. We’ll do what we can to help you.

First Dwarf - Letter from the Star Drifters Team
Hello everyone,
Creating First Dwarf is a beautiful journey that doesn’t end on June 19th. We are a small team of passionate developers that have very big plans for our game and we see a great potential, ready to be explored further together with you.
Your feedback is crucial - we already had a great experience with your overwhelming response during our Playtests and Demo - over 1200 people filled our feedback survey. We can’t even properly put into words how grateful we are for that. Thanks to you, First Dwarf can be better and better with each day.
We’re not taking down our Demo, so you can test it out yourself for free and see if you like the game. Along with all the information from the Living Road Map and this post, you can make the decision if you want to purchase First Dwarf right now or maybe wait for further updates. We want you to have a clear view of what you can expect from the game at the moment.
Let’s talk about our Early Access.
Why Early Access
We want First Dwarf to be a community driven game. We know that there is still a long way to perfecting our title, we have a lot of things to yet implement and revise. So there may be bugs, there may be things you won’t like and we’ll be there all the time to change it and fix it when needed. We want to pursue an open development strategy between the gamers and us.
That’s why we’re really counting on you in terms of feedback, involvement and suggestions, we want to be on the same page in terms of important development points. We’d love to continue developing the game together with you and we’re extremely thankful for your help.
Origin of First Dwarf
We are a small indie studio with an office in Warsaw. First Dwarf is the project we’re working on for quite a few years now. To tell you about the origin of our new game, we need to disclose a little more info about our previous title, Driftland: The Magic Revival.
The idea of Driftland came from the premise of wanting to create a completely original and new fantasy world. It also started as an Early Access game, first there weren’t even any campaign missions. The game surely benefitted from EA and we saw that people were really invested in the story we have created along the way during development. They wanted more and we wanted to explore this universe further just like them.
That’s when the idea of First Dwarf appeared. Opposed to Driftland, which was a RTS, it gives us more freedom in exploring the fantastic world of floating islands. This time we’re thrown straight into the action and not just hovering above it. First Dwarf is a spin-off of a beloved game and expands the already existing universe.
Most of the team that worked on Driftland, is also working on First Dwarf. This project is very close to our hearts and we hope that with your help it can blossom into a wonderful game.
Living Road Map
We want to be transparent with what you can expect from our game in its current state. At first, you’ll get two islands in Early Access. Second island is much bigger and clearing it will take you more time. Our main next goal will be adding the third island.
Below, you can see the full Living Road Map. Living, because as we said, we'll be carefully listening to your feedback during the Early Access. If you believe that something needs to be changed or added and is not included in our plan, please tell us about it. Or if you think that some points from our map are more important than the others, tell us that too. We’ll be adjusting our plan to your suggestions, so that the game will develop with our and your expectations alike.
That’s why we’re asking you directly for your help. We believe that Early Access is a good step forward that will give us a boost for a further development of First Dwarf. Thank you so much for being with us and we hope that you’ll have a great time with us on this journey.

New voices of Tru and Ragna

As we promised recently, we’re back with an introduction of our talented voice actors that joined our project!
During our Playtests we got a lot of feedback regarding the voices of our characters. Many of you wanted our dear Tru to be more “dwarvish” in sound. We took your words to heart and decided to change them completely!

Mary-Anne Stanek as Ragna 🔥🐉
Based in southwestern France, Mary-Anne has held various jobs in the past but discovered her interest in voice acting in 2020. From then on, she went on to act in indie games such as Burnhouse Lane and the upcoming action-adventure title Wéko the Mask Gatherer, in addition to supporting roles in audio dramas. Having long dreamed of playing a dragon, being brought onto the First Dwarf adventure as the friendly, bookish Ragna has been one of her most exciting voice acting milestones to date.
Scott Tunnix is a multi-award winning voice actor from the UK. He’s been working in the industry since 2018 and has voiced thousands of projects from TV and radio commercials, television shows and corporate films to documentaries, trailers, promos and animation as well as over 150 video games. Recently awarded ‘Male Voiceover Artist of the Year’ at the 2024 One Voice Awards here in the UK, as well as ‘Best Audio Drama Performance`
You can know him already from Alterborn, Heroes Chained, The Iron Oath or Apex Legends.

In First Dwarf Demo you take on the role of Dwarf Tru and go fulfill the mission given to you by your Clan of the Northern Dwarves. Find the new and safe home for the settlers, after making sure that the uncharted lands of Driftland are ready to inhabit.
On this amazing journey you’re accompanied by a sassy Dragon, Ragna. She can help you with her fire breath and ability to fly to the various places that are out of Mech’s and Tru’s reach. Change freely through characters and use their different skills!
Fight dangerous monsters and build the greatest colony that will endure the attacks of your enemies! Build defensive walls and turrets that will help you destroy your opponents. 💥
It’s an introduction to our game, where you’ll get to know our dear characters, learn the main mechanics, like building, combat and crafting and have a great time!

You can play our Demo with a friend! Free Demo version supports local multiplayer with splitscreen as well as online multiplayer through Steam. Please keep in mind that we’re still working on it!

Camera shake slider - some of you felt discomfort when camera shakes were present, so we made sure that now everyone can enjoy the game with our option of turning them off or minimizing them!
