A small but important update. A number of bugs had been noticed so we are attempting to keep on top of them. As always, if you ever experience an issue in the game please let us know either on the forums or at support@forgequestrpg.com.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed issue that prevented user of Mac OSX 10.9 or lower unable to play the game
- Fixed invisible boss portal bug. Was issue with model pathing.
- "I Have The Power" achievement now fixed.
- "The power of friendship" achievement now fixed
- Fixed display issue with the craft value of items in equip slots
Quick Patch - Portals
Uploaded a quick patch to resolve the hidden boss portal issue. This didn't change the client version, so we are still 1.55.0b.
Steam should update this automatically, but not always, you can force it by either logging in and out of steam, or by verifying the integrity of the game cache in the properties menu.
Release 1.55.0b
It's been a little while since our last update, but boy is there a whole bunch of stuff here. Most notably, cloud storage is now enabled, Nat Punchthrough will help people that can't port forward for networked game, and ability costs have become much easier to manage.
Major Additions
Cloud storage has been added. Steam stores a copy of your save files, this allows you to automatically syncs characters between computers and in case of the local files getting deleted.
NAT Punchthrough has been added. This allows a game host to avoid having to configure their router port when someone connects in any way other then direct IP.
Conent
New weapon, Spellbook, does only 50% damage, but adds +50% to all ability damage.
Demon bow now has a charge attack. Fires three more powerful projectiles.
Demon sword now has a charge attack. Fires a wave of demonic energy that explodes in front of you.
Fireball Staff now has a faster main attack, plus a charge attack. Charge attack is big fireball with much bigger splash area than before.
New merchant that shows up in the desert overworld. He gives you a quest to kill a demon, if completed he gives you a demon sword. This is the first place you can see the sword in the first difficulty. (Note: He won't show up unless you rebuild the world or start a new world)
New model and animation for overworld portals.
Mana/Rage Regeneration
Shields now increase both mana and rage when it’s held in. The rate is the same for both at 0.75% per second.
Attacking with your weapons increase both mana and rage. However the type of weapon dictates how much it regenerates of either. The general rule of thumb is that magic weapons regen mana, non magic weapons regen rage.
Normal Weapons: Regens 0.5% Rage, 0.2% Mana
Arcane Weapons: Regens 0.2% Rage, 0.5% Mana
Demon Weapons: Regens 0.2% Rage, 0.2% Mana
Abilities
Ability costs now scale off the player’s level, not the weapon you have equipped. This removes the ability cost penalty for having a high level weapon on your character.
Abilities do not increase in mana/rage costs when you put points into them. However Dash & Leap both still decrease in cost per point.
Abilities now take weapon rarity into account for ability DPS. Keep in mind ability damage isn’t reflected in a weapon summary DPS, since that takes weapon specific bonuses into play. Use the character summary page to accurately see your ability DPS.
Balancing
Gold costs for combining items are now modified depending on that item’s type.
Weapons: 200%
Shield: 100%
Bodygear: 100%
Armgear: 50%
Headgear: 50%
Footgear: 50%
Ring: 50%
Like materials did already, Gold costs now increase if you are trying to forge an item above your level.
Energy Bow removed. You will still have it in your inventory, but it will no longer drop from monsters.
Fireball staff now does 80% damage, but give +20% ability damage
Katars now have 140% Weapon Damage
Throwing Daggers now have 120% Weapon Damage
Demon Bows now have 120% Weapon Damage
The minimum levels in which certain weapons drop have been updated. It is now more evenly spread out between the first 20 Levels. Demon sword and bow can only be found in the second difficulty.
Fixed - Major
Fixed bug that incorrectly determined what items to drop at high rarities. Items of the same types were dropping much more then they should, and some items could never be obtained at higher rarities.
Fixed bug that caused crashes when working with some menus.
Fixed yet another bug that could happen on disconnecting from a server.
Fixed bug that would cause the Mac version to crash upon quitting the application.
Fixed - Minor
Modified a few common messages to make them more efficient for networking. Should improve networking on laggy connections.
Fixed a bug that caused a crash in the forge, along with another bug that caused odd visual values when combining items.
Fixed screen fade effect when teleporting from levels.
Fixed display of magical and physical damage bonuses, as they were not displaying as percents.
Fixed issue where respec scroll wouldn’t show the returned points immediately.
As always, if you have any issues with this update please let us know. You can either post on the community pages or we recommend that you e-mail us directly at support@forgequestrpg.com.

Most importantly is the top line item, the crash at startup with Windows 8.1 + Intel HD integrated graphics. The graphics drivers for that particular combination has for a while had a big problem with our game, and only recently have we been able to acquire a machine with similar specifications. For our test machine we were able to identify the problem point and fix it, though we only have our machine to test on. If you have this setup and still experience the issue after this release please let us know.
Fixed - Major
Identified and fixed an issue that caused certain windows 8.1 + integrated HD users not able to run the game. This usually affected people with Intel HD 4400 and 4600s.
Changed the audio engine. This should solve a good number of the audio issues that some platforms experienced at times, such as sounds cutting out or bad buffers. The old audio engine wasn’t the best.
Fixed crash when the Mystic Revive perk would trigger.
Fixed bug that would cause the game to hang upon startup if you have a un-locatable preferred network adapter as your default setting. Most people would not hit this issue.
Final boss was missing the orb projectile in it’s definition, so part of the fight was wrong.
Fixed possible crash when socketing items.
Fixed another crash on closing the application.
Fixed UPNP notification popping up multiple times.
As always, if you have any issues with this release please let us know on the forums or e-mail us directly at support@forgequestrpg.com.
This update has a whole bunch of changes. Although the gameplay didn't change significantly, there are plenty of updates that people have been asking for. Along with a whole bunch of bug fixes that should fix some crashes that have been experienced late
Content Changes
Custom cursor for the game, which should make it much easier to understand where the player is facing during play.
Cursor is locked into the screen when controlling the character, making windowed mode better when in combat.
Ability to scale the GUI from 100% - 200%, great for people at higher resolutions or TV screens and are sitting far away. Scaling depends on your resolution so that the UI doesn’t go off screen.
Mimic now has open animation and sound when you try and interact with it like a chest.
Your minimap is now updated by you as well as your fellow players. This should help parties that get separated.
Removed way too bright background color for first primal section.
Balancing
Rune War, Power, Edge, and Point have been modified from 10% to 5% per rune level.
Monster modifications now have a higher chance depending on world difficulty, going from 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%
Much like weapons in the last update, armor stats now also scale from -25% to +25% depending on rarity.
Increased visibility of fungus poison pools, also decreased the affected area.
Fixed - Major
Fixed crash that would sometimes happen when exiting a game. Either quitting or returning to the main menu.
Fixed crash that would happen when using the teleport scroll in multiplayer games.
Fixed crash when you die, but your pets are still attacking people, and you press the continue button.
Fixed crash in upgrade system if you didn’t have a world file to rebuild from.
Fixed crash when closing the application
Picking up objects such as chicken was messed up in multiplayer, the chicken would stay in place for everyone else until thrown. This is now fixed.
Fixed - Minor
Fixed UI error that would show invalid stats on items right after you modified them. Teleporting to a new zone would fix it until it was edited again. Now it’s just fixed from the get go.
Fixed display issue in input options menu, keys 8 and 9 would show as 7 instead.
Inventory weapon DPS now reflects melee/ranged buffs appropriately.
Mimic and Ancient Don't don’t reset itself when knocked back.
Large enemies, like Frost Wolves and Ice Elementals couldn’t travel up stairs properly, now they can.
Spider outside of primal entrance is now invulnerable during the camera sequence.
Input is reset when in-game focus is lost. This prevents the player from being stuck attacking, moving, or any other repeatable action when a menu pops up.
Removed ability for you to grind enemies that constantly spawn. The first few spawns with give you experience and items, but this will stop after a few guys.
Treasure chests in ice dungeon golem trap were not positioned properly.
Fixed bug that prevented controller from exiting some option menus.
Fixed many controller focus issues, places where controller wouldn’t do anything until you clicked with the mouse.

Release 1.54.2b
This update has a good mixture of both bug fixes and content additions. It ended up being a lot larger then originally intended. The most notable additions are weapon charge attacks and support for multiple network interfaces.
Content Changes
Some weapons now have charge attacks, hold in the attack key to charge, and then release once the charge effect appears. These attacks do more damage and increase the interactiveness of weapon combat.
Weapon damage numbers have been modified to assure balance.
Some weapon’s basic attacks are now changed, Pistol and Alchemy Bomb
Added shop and items to the chicken vendor. Super secret way to unlock it.
Added a OpenGL version checker at the beginning of the game. This isn’t a perfect checker, but in most cases will tell you if your not able to play the game due to poor OpenGL support. I still get many crash reports from people that are not sure why they crash, this should help inform them.
Updated a bit of the in-game character menu UI. Now has top and bottom bars and added a bunch of blue color. Overall I think it makes the UI a bit more understandable.
Balancing
In a previous update we added a damage increase on rarities of weapons. We are not changing this, but we shifted the range from +0% - +50% to -25% - +25%. This balances weapons more with the monster health algorithm.
Fixed - Major
Added a number of extra checks for bugs in which were reported but not able to be reproduced. Should fix a few issues, but not guaranteed for any particular issue.
Fixed crash that could sometimes happen when using the dialog.
Fixed crash that would be caused by pets when exiting to the main menu.
Fixed memory leak, weapon objects were not deleting due to a circular reference
Fixed, bug that caused crafting to cost more then it showed when in a multiplayer game.
Fixed bug that allowed players who were still upgraded for the tutorial to use that character in the game by connecting to different host game.
Fixed - Minor
Only one hover view for an item will show at a time. Before this could be bothersome when drag equipping an item, as the hover view would stick until you moved your mouse into that item again.
Fixed a number of dialogs that wouldn’t let you escape button out of.
On some machines, the glLineWidth didn’t work, meaning some UI interfaces had odd looking borders. This was most notable in the class tree views. A workaround was added to simulate the line width correctly on these machines.
Fixed, store menus wouldn’t update player’s gold amount properly.
Network Interfaces
An additional configuration option is now available, you can select a preferred network adapter (listed by their IP address). For most people you won't need to touch this, but if you have multiple network interfaces such as wired AND wireless, multiple cards, or make use of VPN software like hamachi/tunngle/etc to play your games then this setting will help you.
For example, suppose I have a local ethernet address of 192.168.1.100 and a Tunngle address of 7.104.171.150 currently active. If I wish to play a LAN game with my friend who just came over, I would want to go into the network options and be sure that it is going to use "192.168.1.100".
Only local LAN traffic, and any forwarded by my router will reach me. But if I instead wish to play with a friend across the internet via Tunngle, I would select "7.104.171.150" as the adapter to use.
Conclusion

Release 1.54.1b
Today's release is all about bug fixing. There were a number of crashes that were reported and we wanted to address plus a number of minor things which have been bugging us.
The most important change in this build is we added a crash reporting feature. This feature is currently only available for windows users. If the game crashes, you will be prompted with a window to send a crash report. Fill out all information you can think of in relation to that crash, what you were doing before, what might have caused it, ect...
The crash reporter will send the text you provide, plus a development crash dump to us so that we can properly debug what might have caused the issue. This is a great leap forward, as the crash dump will let us know exactly where in code you crashed and usually allows us to solve the problem. So we encourage anyone who experiences a crash to please use this feature!
As always, if you encounter any issues with this build please feel free to let us know. You can contact us directly by e-mailing us at support@forgequestrpg.com, or you can least a post at the link below.

Release 1.54b - Finally!
After all the hard work we are finally switching the release candidate builds out to the main branch. If you are still using the release candidates, please make a backup of your character before reverting back to the main branch. You can do so using the properties dialog originally used to join the beta branch.
For people who have not been playing the release candidates I will attempt to break down the major changes.
Abilities & Perks & Class Trees have been majorly updated. Due to these changes your character will lose all abilities but will gain the skill points so you may spend them appropriately.
Abilities & Perks now have have multiple points placed into them, increasing their power level.
Cooldown on abilities have been removed, instead only Mana and Rage (mana for martial skills) are used. Equipment and leveling are the main ways to gain this.
The health and damage number scales have been updated, are easier at beginning levels but harsher at higher. All numbers double every 5 levels, so keeping gear up to date is important.
Increasing item levels are now done at crafting stations which can be found in the dungeons.
Crafting materials can be found in gem deposits in the dungeons.
Overworld completely updated.
Player now has house and chest to store items.
Snazzy new character creator.
Simple tutorial added to beginning of the game.
Beginning storyline has been changed to make more streamlined.

If you are interested in playing the release candidate, please follow the instructions at the linked article.
http://steamcommunity.com/games/249950/announcements/detail/199616928154931897
We are pleased to announced the 1.54.3b update which includes a good number of changes to the game. The changes are detailed in the list below.
Just for reference, this should be the last update that we should be doing to the special release candidate before pushing it to the main distribution.
Content Changes
Added special merchants (weapon/armor/trinket) to the dungeons. They have good gear but at higher prices.
Added Combine Forge and Socket Workbench to dungeons. They are used for modifying your items.
Added gem deposits and harvest nodes (match 3 game) to all dungeons, used to modify your items. Also changed the match 3 game to give resources based on your matches.
Runes no longer have EV costs, all items just equip to sockets of similar color.
All item sockets have color. Old items with no color were assigned a color at random.
Rearranged the skill maps to make more sense with the skill updates we did a few updates ago.
Minimap now has edges, much easier to see in dark environments
Balancing
Rune - Keen: Critical change per level changed from 5% to 2.5%
Loot tables modified to allow greater drop chance for mythic and unique items
Shops now will have a level range of gear. However gear higher than your level will cost more.
Blacksmith in town now provides a much wider selection of gear, but now has a much lower chance for rarities.
Modified the Rogue - Throw Bombs ability to be a little quicker, before it was hard to hit enemies.
With the addition of gems I’ve had to update the values for combining runes. Before it was an exponential function, now it is linear. This will make earlier levels costs more, but higher levels not cost as much
Added factor that will increase the number of items needed to level up an item at the forge if the items higher than your level. You can make items much higher level than yourself, but at a point there is diminishing returns.
Fixed - Major
Bug that caused some drops like runes and rings to not have any stats
Skeletons & Wurms no longer get reset into the ground when knocked back
Some dialogs were not marking the player invulnerable, making the player able to be hurt while in talk or other UI events.
Modified the ice dungeon so it’s less likely to have un-reachable areas
Fixed crash when you clicked the “Start” button really fast on the character load screen
No longer able to spawn multiple king dumblebees when more than one person talks with him
Great Sword wasn’t doing double damage on it’s 3rd attack. I also reduced the amount of knockback it causes, as it was making some enemies too easy to fight. Also increased the in-action move speed.
Gadgeteer flame turrets wern’t going away after 10 seconds, now they do.
Fixed - Minor
Wurm no longer has stairs for a minimap icon
Fixed UI so mini sockets view would update in inventory. Before you would have to reload the inventory before the sockets shows correctly.
Fixed bug that prevented health bar from reaching maximum. Would stop 1 hp below the maximum, due to floating point decimals.
Spider eggs are no longer attackable… Not a bug, but never really intended.
Enemies, if they die in the air they will now correctly animate on the ground. Not float and then glide down looking all sorts of broken.
Other
Modified the background color of the second primal area to be a darker green, not so bright and annoying.
