Fortnite Battle Royale v20.30 May 10 Hotfix: Air Strike + Trickshot Unvaults

The v20.30 May 10 hotfix drops in an attack item, brings back two trickshot items, and expands your options of defensive items. Get briefed on what this hotfix brings:

Friends in High Places - Air Strike Unvaulted

Call in some reinforcements! The Air Strike has been unvaulted — throw an Air Strike to send missiles raining to its landing area. Air Strikes can be found in Chests, in Supply Drops, and on the ground.

Trickshot Unvaults

Style on ‘em with freshly unvaulted trickshot items. From now until May 17, 2022, at 8:59 AM ET, soar through the air with the Flint-Knock Pistol and take aim with the Hunting Rifle. These classic items can be found in Chests, in Supply Drops, and on the ground. Also during this time, the drop rates for utility items — like the high-flying Shockwave Grenade — are increased!

Bars, Bubbles, and Balloons

Inflate for safety. Funding Stations are gearing up to accept donations to produce either Shield Bubbles or Balloons!

Both options provide protection in some way. Throw down a Shield Bubble to create a temporary dome invulnerable to explosives and projectiles (including Air Strike missiles). On the other hand, attach Balloons to yourself to become more airborne and agile.

Before one of these protective items is unvaulted, you’ll have the opportunity to try out both in the wild. Find Shield Bubbles and Balloons scattered throughout the Island from Friday, May 13, at 9 AM ET to Monday, May 16, at 11:59 PM. Not too long after this trial period ends, you can vote for your favorite choice by contributing Bars at Funding Stations. The first item that reaches 100% Funded will swiftly enter the loot pool!

Competitive Notes

  • The Air Strike, Trickshot unvaults, and Trickshot drop rate changes are not included in competitive playlists.

  • The Shield Bubbles/Balloons trial period will not take place in competitive playlists.

Fortnite Battle Royale v20.30 Update: The Battle for Tilted Towers + Unvault the Choppa!

Battle Royale v20.30 is all about high heights: fight for the fate of towers, wield space weapons, and bring back the Choppa. 🚁

The Battle for Tilted Towers

The Battle for Rocky Reels ended with a standing ovation and a victory for the Resistance! Find Funding Stations for an Armored Battle Bus and set of Turrets at this reclaimed POI.

But the most climactic POI Battle hasn’t started until now: the heart of the Island is at stake in the Battle for Tilted Towers. Join the Resistance in pushing back the IO! Higher than even the buildings is an IO Blimp carrying Huntmaster Saber, who refuses to stand down.

Fulfill Your Destiny: May the 4th Festivities

Star WarsTM Day is going on in Fortnite, but not just on May the 4th! From May 3 to May 17, 2022, take up Lightsabers and E-11 Blaster Rifles in battle. Also, complete new Star Wars Quests to unlock an Empire Banner. More info on this intergalactic event can be found in our May the 4th blog post!

Go Sky High in a Blimp Choppa

The IO aren’t the only ones who can take to the skies. Funding Stations for Choppas have been set up across all Seven Outposts — chip in Bars to bring this vehicle out of the vault! Once a Choppa is 100% Funded, fly across the map and attack from above.

Shotguns Rebalanced

In v20.30, all Shotguns have undergone a damage balance update. These changes will increase the damage for most shots (including headshots). All Shotguns have also been given a “max damage cap,” affecting how much maximum damage a single shot can deal.

Specific changes to Shotguns available in Fortnite Battle Royale/Zero Build:

  • Minimum pellet-hit count increased from 3 to 4 for the Striker Pump Shotgun, Auto Shotgun, and Drum Shotgun.

  • Striker Pump Shotgun and Auto Shotgun pellet damage and headshot damage increased.

  • Ranger Shotgun and Drum Shotgun headshot damage greatly increased, but no change to base pellet damage.

  • Drum Shotgun damage falloff adjusted, shortening effective range.

These changes have affected all Shotguns that are available in Fortnite Creative as well, which we detail in our Creative v20.30 blog post. We’ll continue to evaluate these changes as we monitor player feedback.

The Browse menu has been added next to Discover! This menu is broken up into categories (such as Action, Casual, and Combat), making it easier to find new games in the genres you love.

Fortnite Creative v20.30 Update: Tilted Towers POI + Armored Battle Bus + More!

Where we droppin?

Hey Creators! Have you ever looked at Tilted Towers and thought about the awesome things you could do if only you had the POI? Well, now is your chance as the v20.30 update introduces the Tilted Towers POI to Creative!

Armored Battle Bus

What do you get when you cross a Prop Mover device, Tilted Towers and an Armored Battle Bus? I guess we will find out! The Armored Battle Bus and the Cow Catcher devices will be available with 20.30 for ultimate ramming power.

Island Template Updates

In v20.20 we released the Video Player device (previously known as Llamatron) for you to use to broadcast a set of preloaded music videos. We now have a template, “Music Experience Island” to help you build a great experience using the device.

The old Zone Wars Template Island has been updated to align with the new standard and new devices that have been released since the template was originally created. The update also includes billboards describing the new devices and how the island was built!

Player Reference Device Update

We have updated the Player Reference Device with more customizable options, and the ability to simplify mechanics without having to use several devices to achieve your desired results!

Hub Changes

We are introducing a new Hub layout more focused on providing you a place to showcase your artistic skills. To accomplish this, we’re removing matchmaking portals and featured rifts. There will be four empty rifts so you can continue testing and playing in private parties, and one Creator Showcase map selected by the hub creator. Starting in July, hubs will be live for two weeks instead of one.

Please Note: Starting today, all hubs that are not submitted in the new layout will be rejected. If you’d still like to be featured, please update your Hubs to the new layout and resubmit to the creative content submission form.

Shotguns Rebalanced

In v20.30 all Shotguns have undergone a damage balance update across Fortnite.

These changes will increase the damage for most shots and headshots. All Shotguns have also been given a “max damage cap”, affecting the maximum damage a single shot can deal. Please note with this cap update, alongside other adjustments, all Shotguns except the Legendary Dragon’s Breath Shotgun will no longer deal over 200 damage in one shot.

Specifically, in Fortnite Creative:

  • Minimum pellet-hit count increased from 3 to 4 for the Striker Pump Shotgun, Auto Shotgun, and Drum Shotgun.
  • Striker Pump Shotgun and Auto Shotgun pellet damage and headshot damage increased.
  • Ranger Shotgun and Drum Shotgun headshot damage greatly increased, but no change to base pellet damage.
  • Drum Shotgun damage falloff adjusted, shortening effective range.
  • Charge Shotgun pellet damage decreased while the headshot damage increased.
  • Heavy Shotgun pellet damage increased.
  • Headshot damage increased for the following: Lever Action Shotgun, Makeshift Shotgun
  • Pellet damage and headshot damage increased for the following: Pump Shotgun, Primal Shotgun, Tactical Shotgun, Dragon’s Breath Shotgun, Combat Shotgun, Double Barrel Shotgun

Fortnite Battle Royale v20.20 Apr 26 Hotfix: Battle for Rocky Reels + The Light Machine Gun Leaves the Vault

The Battle Royale v20.20 Apr 26 hotfix sees the unvaulting of the Light Machine Gun! Use this helpful weapon in the next POI Battle:

The Battle for Rocky Reels

The Resistance has won the Battle for Coney Crossroads! Go to SOFDEEZ with ease once again. With this POI now held by the Resistance, Funding Stations for an Armored Battle Bus and set of Turrets can now be found here.

The fight against the IO continues in the Battle for Rocky Reels. This is no movie: drop into Rocky Reels and help push the IO back! Starring on the IO side is Huntmaster Saber, again in action overhead.

Out of the Vault: Light Machine Gun

The Battle for Rocky Reels doesn’t have to be rocky. To assist you, the Light Machine Gun (LMG) has been unvaulted across the Island! Take advantage of its fast fire rate and 60-round magazine. The longer you hold down its trigger, the more manageable its recoil becomes.

Find LMGs on the ground and in Chests, Rare Chests, Supply Drops, and sharks.

Boogie Bomb vs. Rift-To-Go Vote Begins!

Get your Bars ready — the Boogie Bomb/Rift-To-Go trial period has ended and now it’s time for a vote! Funding Stations pitting the two items together can be found at all major POIs, so head to a Funding Station and contribute Bars to your preferred choice. The first choice to reach 100% Funded based on everyone’s global contributions will win and enter the loot pool immediately!

Competitive Notes

  • Rocky Reels is not under assault in competitive playlists, but Huntmaster Saber has still relocated.

  • The LMG is not included in competitive playlists but is subject to an evaluation period.

  • The winner of the Boogie Bomb vs. Rift-To-Go vote will not immediately be unvaulted in competitive playlists — but is subject to an evaluation period.

  • The Repair Torch has been removed from competitive playlists.

Fortnite Battle Royale v20.20 Update: The Battle for Coney Crossroads + New Shotgun + More

v20.20 sees the conclusion of the Battle for Condo Canyon, while a new conflict commences at the Battle for Coney Crossroads. To coincide with this clash, take up a new weapon and select an item to unvault!

The Battle for Coney Crossroads

Condo Canyon can again be called home: the Battle for Condo Canyon is a victory for the Resistance! With the Resistance settling in at this POI, Funding Stations for an Armored Battle Bus and set of Turrets can now be found here.

The fight against the IO goes on, this time at Coney Crossroads. A literal and figurative turning point, jump into the Battle for Coney Crossroads and help push the IO back! (Refusing to give up, Huntmaster Saber is again prowling overhead.)

New Weapon: Ranger Shotgun

Wanna fight for Coney with extra confidence? The Ranger Shotgun has appeared on the Island, built for much longer range than most Shotguns. This burst Shotgun has one shot per reload. Because each shot deals serious damage, you won’t need to panic while reloading.

Find Ranger Shotguns on the ground, from certain vendors, and in Chests, Supply Drops, and sharks.

Bars to Make a Break

The Resistance plans to supply the Boogie Bomb or Rift-To-Go — but needs help deciding which one. Both are tailored for escaping tricky situations. An enemy come out of nowhere? Throw a Boogie Bomb to trap them in a dance. In a losing struggle? Use a Rift-To-Go to create an emergency Rift.

Before one of these escape mechanisms is unvaulted, you’ll have the opportunity to try out both in the wild. Find Boogie Bombs and Rift-To-Gos scattered throughout the Island from Friday, April 22, at 8 AM ET to Monday, April 25, 2022, at 8 AM ET. Not too long after this trial period ends, you can vote for your favorite choice by contributing Bars at Funding Stations. The first item that reaches 100% Funded will swiftly enter the loot pool!
