Just drop any weapon or consumable into the Item Placer to place the weapon/consumable on a table, or to mount the weapon/consumable to a wall. Social Tags + Looking For Party

Express how you play Fortnite! With the new option to add social tags to your profile, select up to three for other players to see. You can choose tags that express your favorite game mode(s) (2v2, Deathrun, Free For All, etc.), your gameplay vibe(s) (Chill, Mic Off, Mic On, etc.), and your preferred competitive event(s) (Cosmetic Cup, Hype Cup, Lightning Cup, etc.). You’ll also be recommended Fortnite experiences based on your social tags.

To add social tags to your profile, click on your profile icon in the Sidebar, then select +Add Tag. Once you have at least one social tag, you’ll be able to send party invites to and receive party invites from players with matching tags (who are in your server region). These party invites can be sent from the new Looking For Party section in the Sidebar. This section is Fortnite's very own LFG (looking for group) feature where you can party up based on interest and region.

In this section, you will need to turn on Looking For Party in order to start sending and receiving invites from players. At any time, you can turn Looking For Party off. When off, you’ll stop receiving invites and have your sent invites expire. When playing Duos, Trios, Squads, etc., using Looking For Party is optional — the normal invite system for partying up will remain.

Social tags and Looking For Party are features currently in testing. These features will be incrementally rolled out to all players at a rate dependent on the test.

Update (June 22, 2022): As of June 22, social tags and Looking For Party are no longer in testing. They have been rolled out to all Battle Royale/Creative players!

Reality Sapling Balance Change

We've made adjustments to the amount of Reality Fruit a Reality Sapling can grow based on its rarity. In each growth cycle, Reality Saplings will now grow:

  • 3 fruits when Uncommon or Rare

  • 2 fruits when Epic

  • 1 fruit when Legendary or Mythic

Visualized Audio Adjustment

We've reduced the detection radius of the “Visualize Sound Effects” indicator for footsteps, Chests, and vehicles to better match the distance when that sound would be audible. This will mean the source of these sounds will need to be closer before appearing on your HUD.

Competitive Notes

  • The Darth Vader boss, Darth Vader’s Lightsaber, Stormtroopers, and E-11 Blasters are not included in competitive playlists.

Fortnite Battle Royale v21.00 June 14 Hotfix: The Grapple Glove Swings In

As the Reality Tree’s energy envelops Logjam, grapple with this mystery while grappling with a new item:

Hooked on Swinging: Put on the Grapple Glove

The Screwballer’s not the only high-flying thrill this Season. Pick up a Grapple Glove and use it to swing through the air! To begin swinging, shoot its grappling hook at a hard surface like a cliff, prop, or building. Each successive swing gets faster until the third swing and beyond, when you’ll be at max speed.

If you miss a shot and land on the ground, you’ll have a brief window of time to shoot the grappling hook and come back swinging. You'll have an even longer window if you slide out of a swing, so don't be afraid to combo some slides into your swinging action! But don’t worry if the window of time runs out: after a brief cooldown, the Grapple Glove will ready itself back up.

When the Grapple Glove’s ready again, that’s your cue to get back in the air. Or perhaps to get something out of reach… You can also shoot its grappling hook to pull items towards you! Keep shooting the grappling hook until your Grapple Glove’s out of charges. Grapple Gloves can be found in Grapple Glove Toolboxes, located at the pink Grapple Stops throughout the Island.

A New Season has arrived and brings new items, new props, the Level Instance device, and a new, easy way for players to support creators by liking your Island!

It is now easier than ever for players to tell us when they enjoy an island! With 21.00 we've added functionality to the UI that will allow players to give a thumbs up to an island on exit. Just take 'em to an Upgrade Bench!

The first choice to reach 100% Funded based on everyone’s global contributions will win and enter the loot pool immediately!

Continue Utile Tactics in Zero Build

Last week, to coincide with the trickshot unvaults, the drop rate of utility items was increased for a limited time. In Zero Build, the drop rate of Shockwave Grenades, Rift-To-Gos, and Cow Catchers will stay increased indefinitely! Keep the traversal and combative transportation going.

V-Bucks Purchased on PlayStation Join Fortnite Shared Wallet

Starting with v20.40, V-Bucks purchased on PlayStation may be used across platforms that support Fortnite Shared Wallet (PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Android, and cloud gaming services). As always, V-Bucks earned on any platform through the Battle Pass, Quest Packs, or Save the World are shared across all other platforms. See our recent blog post on Fortnite Shared Wallet for more information.

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S Latency Reduction

We've made performance improvements to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles running in 60 FPS that reduce input latency for players who select “Low Input Latency Mode” in the settings (Settings > Game > Extra Game Options). Low Input Latency has been enabled by default.

PlayStation 5 - Change to How to Enable 120 FPS in Fortnite

It’s now easier for PS5 players to enable 120 FPS in Fortnite.

To enable 120 FPS in Fortnite on PS5, players no longer need to go to the console settings. Instead, 120 FPS can be enabled by doing the following:

  1. In Fortnite, open the Settings menu from the Sidebar menu.

  2. Click on Video.

  3. Toggle 120 FPS Mode to ON.

  4. Click Apply.

Note: The 120 FPS option will not appear if your TV or AV receiver doesn’t support 120 FPS output.

Middle East Server Region Change

Networking options for the Middle East server region have changed. To ensure all players in the region have the best experience — if you had manually selected the server region to Middle East — it has now been reverted to Auto.

This means that some players who are normally connected to Middle East servers will now connect to Europe or Asia. Competitors, be sure to check the Compete tab in-game for Cup starts times.

Players are able to switch back to the Middle East server region if they choose to do so, but remember that this will likely result in high ping.

Competitive Notes

  • Arena Fill has been enabled.

  • The Sideways Showdown unvaults are not included in competitive playlists.

  • The winner of the Shield Bubbles vs. Balloons vote will not be unvaulted in competitive playlists.

Major Bug Fixes

We’ve taken the feedback and now you can place nice fluffy clouds to add to any map! Primitives Shapes Gallery B featuring 16 new materials for creations have arrived for your use. The only limit with these is your imagination.

Update: Promotion of Islands with XP enabled

In order to maintain a fair and consistent experience as part of our Discover experience, we're updating our policy on the in-game promotion of Islands with XP enabled. Mentioning XP in images, trailers, and the Island description can be misleading and will be disallowed; however, using the XP tag is still completely fine!

For new or updated Islands, please ensure your Island assets correctly reflect the experience your map provides.

Note: The policy blog has not yet been updated to reflect this change.

Other Updates and changes

  • You can now turn on/off sliding on a per team/class basis.
  • New options have been added that allow creators to change how Overshield and Sprinting function.

Fortnite Battle Royale v20.30 May 10 Hotfix: Air Strike + Trickshot Unvaults

The v20.30 May 10 hotfix drops in an attack item, brings back two trickshot items, and expands your options of defensive items. Get briefed on what this hotfix brings:

Friends in High Places - Air Strike Unvaulted

Call in some reinforcements! The Air Strike has been unvaulted — throw an Air Strike to send missiles raining to its landing area. Air Strikes can be found in Chests, in Supply Drops, and on the ground.

Trickshot Unvaults

Style on ‘em with freshly unvaulted trickshot items. From now until May 17, 2022, at 8:59 AM ET, soar through the air with the Flint-Knock Pistol and take aim with the Hunting Rifle. These classic items can be found in Chests, in Supply Drops, and on the ground. Also during this time, the drop rates for utility items — like the high-flying Shockwave Grenade — are increased!

Bars, Bubbles, and Balloons

Inflate for safety. Funding Stations are gearing up to accept donations to produce either Shield Bubbles or Balloons!

Both options provide protection in some way. Throw down a Shield Bubble to create a temporary dome invulnerable to explosives and projectiles (including Air Strike missiles). On the other hand, attach Balloons to yourself to become more airborne and agile.

Before one of these protective items is unvaulted, you’ll have the opportunity to try out both in the wild. Find Shield Bubbles and Balloons scattered throughout the Island from Friday, May 13, at 9 AM ET to Monday, May 16, at 11:59 PM. Not too long after this trial period ends, you can vote for your favorite choice by contributing Bars at Funding Stations. The first item that reaches 100% Funded will swiftly enter the loot pool!

Competitive Notes

  • The Air Strike, Trickshot unvaults, and Trickshot drop rate changes are not included in competitive playlists.

  • The Shield Bubbles/Balloons trial period will not take place in competitive playlists.

Shotguns Rebalanced

In v20.30, all Shotguns have undergone a damage balance update. These changes will increase the damage for most shots (including headshots). All Shotguns have also been given a “max damage cap,” affecting how much maximum damage a single shot can deal.

We have updated the Player Reference Device with more customizable options, and the ability to simplify mechanics without having to use several devices to achieve your desired results!

Hub Changes

We are introducing a new Hub layout more focused on providing you a place to showcase your artistic skills. To accomplish this, we’re removing matchmaking portals and featured rifts. There will be four empty rifts so you can continue testing and playing in private parties, and one Creator Showcase map selected by the hub creator. Starting in July, hubs will be live for two weeks instead of one.

Please Note: Starting today, all hubs that are not submitted in the new layout will be rejected. If you’d still like to be featured, please update your Hubs to the new layout and resubmit to the creative content submission form.

Shotguns Rebalanced

In v20.30 all Shotguns have undergone a damage balance update across Fortnite.

These changes will increase the damage for most shots and headshots. All Shotguns have also been given a “max damage cap”, affecting the maximum damage a single shot can deal. Please note with this cap update, alongside other adjustments, all Shotguns except the Legendary Dragon’s Breath Shotgun will no longer deal over 200 damage in one shot.

  • Minimum pellet-hit count increased from 3 to 4 for the Striker Pump Shotgun, Auto Shotgun, and Drum Shotgun.
