Fractured Space

Last Stand Update - 19th April 2018

Last Stand

“After the attack on the AI world of PR0VENANCE, the AI have deemed us as a threat. They have created the Swarm to drive us from the surrounding area of space. Judging by the readings we are receiving, we don’t have the firepower to defeat the Swarm. The best we can do is hold them off while we evacuate the civilians . Good luck, Commander.”

Team up with two other Captains to hold back the Swarm. Last Stand is our new PvE mode where your fleet of three Ships will attempt to fend off the AI Swarm as they attack your Base Core.

Across four new sectors, keep the Swarm from entering the Base Sector by defending your Forward Stations, use cunning and strategy to organize your team to keep this enemy threat from destroying your Base Turrets, your Core’s last defense. As the waves progress, the challenge will become more intense with all new Frigate craft entering Fractured Space, adding a new level of danger to the battlefield.

Matchmaking for Last Stand is based on Player XP rather than Player MMR.

Last Stand Premium Campaign

Part of the Last Stand Campaign Pack, The Last Stand Campaign functions a little differently to our existing campaigns:

• This campaign has its own slot – it doesn’t need to be opted into, it is automatically tracked.
• To access the campaign (and receive the rewards) it must be bought.
• Progress towards the campaign objectives is tracked regardless of buy in.
• If the campaign is bought at a later date any rewards already earned will be granted on purchase.

Improved Tutorial

New tutorial flow introduced with a more casual narrative driven introduction before the main tutorial.
Main tutorial enemy base reworked to display Barox’s themes & colours.

New Progression Medals - Last Stand

4 new progression medals have been added, with credits and badges rewarded in the same way as Conquest progression medals for the following stats:

• Total Waves Beaten in Last Stand
• Total Points Scored in Last Stand
• Total Takedowns in Last Stand
• Total Frigates Destroyed in Last Stand

Last Stand Skill Medals

A new skill medal has been added for each ship – these medals track the highest wave beaten in Last Stand.

Last Stand Swarm Skins

Beating Wave 12 in Last Stand will earn you the Swarm Skin for the ship you were flying. This does not require purchase of the Last Stand Campaign Pack.

New Crew

Coming to the store, we have 10 new crew for you to recruit into your Barracks - the latest set features an all female team, three repurposed AI from Last Stand and the villian from the tutorial, Barrox.

MMR Decay

A common piece of feedback we have been hearing from players returning to Fractured Space, who had played a substantial amount in the past, was the frustration of returning to find their MMR at its previous peak. With balance changes, reworks to Ships and changes to game mechanics, it can be tough to keep up with players who play on a regular basis.

With this update, we have made the following changes to how MMR works if you take some time away from Fractured Space:

• MMR is decayed independently per game mode.
• MMR decay begins after 14 days of inactivity.
• MMR decay is applied once per day after this period of inactivity.

The MMR Decay will work as follows

[table]

[th]MMR Above[/th]

General Changes

  • Modified default settings for HUD tags. Skills and Distance have been turned on, Role has been turned off, and untargeted ship opacity and size has been changed to 75 percent.
  • Added “Healing Limpets” that appear and attach to your ship inside allied Forward Stations and the allied Home Base when these zones heal you. These do not add any functionality but instead serve to add visual communication to these friendly bases healing your ship.
  • Added an in-world VFX concerning broken armour on ships; at the point of breaking, the armour piece affected will flash and fade away. This should help with communication regarding the shapes and locations of armour facings and to enhance feedback of an armour piece having been broken.
  • Added a “shield break” animation to the Punisher’s shield, along with a bespoke shield health bar for the Punisher that encapsulates the ship’s hull health bar.
  • Added a “glitching” screen effect that plays if you take damage when jumping.
  • Added “Avoid Damage” text next to the health bar that types in when the player initiates jump along with the health bar itself flashing with the warning icon.
  • Leaderboards now save the ship used.
  • Last Stand has weekly leaderboards showing score
  • Results screen has a newer, nicer credit booster icon

  • Fixed an issue concerning excessive flickering on the Basilisk’s Pulsar Charge AOE sphere.

Known Issues

  • If a player views the Last Stand Campaign bundle, but does not buy it, the next successful purchase they make in the store will incorrectly show the "Last Stand Campaign Purchased" popup. This will be hotfixed ASAP.
  • Turret coverage HUD overlaps with the “Wave Complete” pop-up in Last Stand.
  • Destroying two AI Swarm ships in quick succession will not display the second’s name, in the “X killed Y” pop-up.
  • The new Crew Members are not appearing in the "Completionist" category in the Barracks.

German Launch Command

Due to issues outside of our control, the full German localisation release has been pushed back. However, if you follow the instructions in this announcement you can launch the live game (once the Last Stand Update is released) to help us correct any errors that may be present.

Last Stand Update Progress - 12th April

Greetings Captains,

The team are still busy at work getting the finishing touches on the Last Stand Update for you all to enjoy next week, but I wanted to take this opportunity to fill you in on the progress of the update and some changes to our intended plans.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, one of our German voice actors became unavailable for recording their lines during last week, rather than delay the Last Stand Update even further we have instead opted to use another actor who was available, these recordings have now been completed. Our aim is to still launch the Update on the 18th April, however, due to this slight setback we will not be launching the Update natively with German localization. You will however, be able to launch the game with a specific launch command so there will be a majority of the localized text and VO, this will allow our dedicated German speaking players to feedback to us on any of the localization that can be improved upon or doesn’t make a lot of sense in context. With this feedback we can prepare it for the hotfix that will allow everyone to access German without the launch command.

Closer to the release of the Last Stand Update we will provide details on how to access this launch command version and how to properly feedback to the team on any changes you may suggest.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you are excited for the Last Stand Update.

Last Stand - One Week Later

Greetings Captains,

We have just been informed internally that the update containing Last Stand which was previously touted for an 11th April release is now set to release on the 18th April instead.

While we made every effort to stay on track for the adjusted date, we were unfortunately let down by an external contractor who was late in providing us with translated Crew voice lines. Hold up, translating Crew voice lines?! That's correct, also joining the Last Stand update will be German localization.

German is the first language we will be adding to Fractured Space and we are currently aiming to have several more added by the end of the year, so do take the time when Last Stand releases if you see any German Captains, and give them a hearty willkommen.

Once again, apologies for delaying this update even further.

Event - Last Stand: Before The Swarm & more

Pre-Release Event - Last Stand: Before The Swarm

2683.

Pr0venance has fallen. Deity-level AI have created the Swarm – AI whose sole aim is to take control of enemy Capital Ships and use them to clear out every colony within a 50-light-year radius

No more than 8-light-years away, TDS controlled system ‘Lugou Bridge’, named for its significance in bridging two major resource systems for the corporation, was a hotbed for skirmishes by hired mercenaries hoping to disrupt the safe passage the system was providing for TDS resource convoys.

These conflicts were reaching a tipping point, close to all-out war across the entire system when the news started to come in of Pr0venance.

Little did they know what was to happen next – the first contact with the Swarm and the start of the human colonies’ last stand.

Last Stand: Before the Swarm

Before the ‘Lugou Bridge’ system was the theatre for the human colonies’ first contact with the Swarm, it was the center of a growing conflict to take control of a powerful trade route.

Take part in this community event, running from 29th March to 5th April, and hit the target of 500,000 Takedowns to earn yourself a unique Before the Swarm badge, which when the Last Stand releases will reward you with a brand new Crew Member.

Information about the March Update

Greetings Captains,

In the later stages of last week, it was decided that to ensure the best possible update for March and the inclusion of the Last Stand mode, that we move the arrival date from the end of March to the middle of April. We sincerely apologize for this delay and hope you will understand that we have made this decision with yours and this updates best interests in mind. This will ensure that we have ample time to complete all the necessary features and additions we have planned and that all of these can be tested sufficiently without the team rushing to meet a tight deadline resulting in oversights and issues.

We will still be keeping you updated on Last Stand as the weeks go by, with the first burst of information being The Art of Last Stand which you can see first on our TWITCH CHANNEL, this Thursday 15th at 1830 UTC.

Again, we apologize for this delay to Last Stand, we hate delays as much as anyone else but hope you understand our reasoning.
