Galactic Lander

Minor Update And Galactic Missions

Hello!

The Update

I have just released a relatively small update for Galactic Lander. This update adds detail to the engine sprite when it is broken (because I forget to add it before) and other minor fixes/changes.

Game Events

I'm a fan of CS:GO's occasional 'operations'. Once in a while Valve would release an 'operation' for CS:GO which players can purchase a 'pass' for and take part in. Completing the operation will grant you a 'coin' to show off in-game.

In an effort to add something similar to Galactic Lander, I am in the midst of adding in to the game support for various future 'galactic situations'. These 'galactic missions' will be free for all immediately as they begin. Completing a mission will grant the player an exclusive ship skin they could either play with in singleplayer, or show off in co-op mode.

Bugs And General Game Feedback

I would like remind to you, the players, if you encounter bugs in-game, or simply have suggestions for the game, I highly recommend you to make your voice heard either on the Steam forums or on the official game website.

I really love to hear feedback from the community, and I do act upon suggestions & bug reports as players submit them.

That is all for today's announcement, thanks for reading, and have fun!

Game Release!

Hey!

I am happy to announce Galactic Lander is finally released to the Steam platform!

I am looking forward to hearing precious feedback from the community, playing with players in co-op mode, and playing your awesome workshop levels!

Have a good game, and have fun!

Update, Bug Fixes, And One Day Until Release!

Hello!

Over the past few days I have been consistently patching Galactic Lander and fine-tuning it for release day, tomorrow.

Level Editor and Workshop Publishing

I have made some adjustments to the in-game level editor, such as updating old text prompts, and fixing bugs.

I have also fixed a bug where if a user is uploading a level but needs to agree to Steam's workshop terms of agreement first, the file would upload anyways as a blank item.

Preparing For Release Day And Beyond

Most of the patches and fixes I have been able to provide have been in thanks to feedback and review from the community. This feedback from the 'closed-beta stage' players has proven tremendously useful and of course, even after release day, I urge all players who find faults with the game, or simply have suggestions, to report them either on the Steam forums or on the official Galactic Lander website.

I am very excited for Galactic Lander's nearing release. Ever since day one of me working on this game, the one thing I was and still am most excited for will be being able to browse the Steam workshop and to admire all the wonderful levels players created together with our game.

Background Music, Detailed Ship, And More Upcoming Levels

Hello!

The Background Music

I have finally gotten around to adding some background music, I'll admit, it's not 'triple-A cinematic game' level, but it fills in the silence that was there before.

The music volume is of course, also adjustable from the settings menu.

More Details For The Ship Sprite

Overall, the ship sprite is the exact same, but a few minor details were added. I have also added a bit of a 'shadow' effect around the edges.

New Levels And More

In addition to this, I have also fixed a few bugs regarding the level editor escape menu.

Finally, I have added one more co-op level. It is my intention to continue working on and creating more singleplayer/co-op levels for the game, even after release. In my opinion, it would never be too late to continue adding more levels.

Just a mere four short days remain until the fourth of October and the game's release. I am getting very excited for this occasion and I hope you are as well! I recommend following my Twitter, developer page, and following Galactic Lander here on Steam to stay tuned for future announcements and news!

Fixin' Bugs And Level Customization

Thanks to Oreli's curator group for their constructive-criticism and helpful review of Galactic Lander, I was able to patch a few bugs, as well as add some cool new features!

The crate-synchronization bug

In co-op mode, when letting go of a crate there would sometimes be de-synchronization issues where one player sees his crate land at point A, but the other player due to lag, sees the crate land at point B. This would sometimes cause doors to not open to some players because their clients would not agree the crate has activated it's sensor.

This has been fixing by making it so when a player lets go of a crate in co-op, that same player also mentions where he dropped the crate and what is it's velocity. This makes the crate's landing point fully synchronized between clients.

Different-theme colored levels

Originally I had decided to make Galactic Lander level mostly colorless, the reasoning behind this was that the level would be in space, inside an asteroid, which aren't known for being very colorful.

Oreli suggested some levels could be colored differently, as if they were on Mars or Neptune, etc.

For this purpose I have created a new section in the level editor which allows any player to add their own unique touch to their levels by customizing the size of the 'background mist' and the general color theme of their levels.

Ship Strengthening

The engineers over at 'Galactic Spaceship Manufacturer Co.' have finally figured out how to construct a stronger spaceship... The legs plus the engine boosters are now welded more strongly on to the ship. In other words, the legs and boosters won't break off the ship as easily.

Explosions!

Explosion sounds for missiles and other crashes have been replaced with more related, high-quality sound effects.

That is all, thanks for reading today's update announcement, and as always, have fun!

Closed-Beta Giveaway Closed and More Updates

Lets jump right into today's announcement.

New Galactic Lander Group Chat

Instead of creating a whole new Discord server for Galactic Lander (which sounds a bit like overkill), I opted for the much more light-weight approach of creating and setting up the Steam chat group for Galactic Lander.

Now we can all have a place to discuss and talk about Galactic Lander live!

Here is the group chat invite link

Closed-Beta Giveaway Failed Results

Today marked the end of the three-day-long closed-beta giveaway for Galactic Lander, however due to an error in the giveaway-distribution code, a bug caused every person who registered for the giveaway to receive a key. Obviously, some people received a key that was already given to someone else before them, and therefore they were given an invalid key.

This is clearly unacceptable, and I deeply apologize for this critical error/mistake on my behalf. As compensation for this error, everyone who registered for the Galactic Lander closed-beta giveaway that ended in the 26/9/2018 will be given a free game key.

If the key you have received in your email is valid than that's good, but if you have not received an email or received an email with a key that was already taken, please post a thread about it on the Steam discussion forums, add me on Steam and message me personally about it, or leave a message about it on our group chat and you will be given a new, unused key.

In order to properly compensate every person who registered for the closed-beta giveaway, I have sent out new emails which briefly explain the incident and also provided in the email is a new, unused, brand-new key for Galactic Lander.

Thank you for your understanding, and now on to the rest of announcement!

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs

Even in outer space there are bugs; thankfully not the living ones. With the help of curator group Oreli Reviews Some Stuff and their willingness to report bugs on the discussion forums, I was able to find and eliminate a couple of game-breaking bugs I either wise would only hear about later.

That is all! Thank you for reading, and as always, I wish you all a good time playing fun games!

Achievements And Nearing Release

Hi! I'll get right to the progress update.

Game achievements

19 awesome achievements have been added for the game. Although if you are reading this announcement before the game is released you won't be able to see them but trust me, they are fun.

Finishing touches

My pre-release schedule for Galactic Lander is as follows:
Next two-three days will be me wraping up small the small/quick things that are left to be done from the Galactic Lander Trello

One day testing (especially co-op) features to make sure everything is in squeaky clean order.

Rest of the time until release polishing up the final details and adding in the rest of the missing game levels.

And that's it really! There really is not much left to do. I'll keep you all posted with more progress as it comes up!

Also, remember to keep an ear out for the date of the closed-beta giveaway! Wouldn't want to miss it!

Updated Release Date And More Progress

Hello!

I wanted to give you all a little 'progress-report' on the game's development.

First of all, I am very pleased to announce I have moved forward the release date from the 18th of October to the 4th of October simply because development is going very well and soon I will run out of tasks on Galactic Lander's Trello to work on.

Closed-Beta Giveaway

In my opinion, a game's release is not complete without a closed-beta giveaway. Therefore, in the upcoming days or weeks, I will announce the official date for said giveaway. I recommend following Galactic Lander and myself to be notified of when the giveaway will begin.

Since Galactic Lander is really more fun with a friend in co-op mode, I recommend getting your friends to join the giveaway too, once it begins, so that you will be able to enjoy the game together!

That is all for now! Thanks for reading, and game on!

Publicized Trello Roadmap And Game Progress

Hello!

Here at Galactic Lander Labs Co. I work very hard to get space ships to fly through cave-like structures in low gravity.

I wanted to update you on my progress, as well as to let you take a look for yourself!

Galactic Lander has come a long way since it's inception. It has become much more polished and enjoyable, especially with the addition of co-op gameplay (which wasn't even entirely planned in the beginning) the game is even more thrilling and fun, I had a blast just from testing the co-op gameplay with a couple of friends of mine!

I would outline all of the things I have left to finish for Galactic Lander, but since the Trello roadmap is now public, you can now take a full, detailed look for yourself!

That said, really the only major things I have to finish in order for Galactic Lander to become fully playable are:

  1. A game-wide prompt system to alert the player of important notifications
  2. A proper settings menu to adjust graphics/controls
  3. Sound effects and possibly also a background music

Developer Streaming

On a final note, for the past few days now I have been considering streaming myself coding/developing Galactic Lander right here on Steam. I was wondering if you think that is something you would be interested in watching? Please let me know in the comments of this announcement or on my Twitter post!

Well, that is all for now! If you are interested in hearing more about Galactic Lander and it's development progress, I highly suggest following my on my personal developer page and/or on my twitter!

Thanks for reading, and game on! :B1:
