Client and Server Update 1.1.21

And we have a big present for everyone: Hunting is here!!! You can finally send your ships around the galaxy, seeking enemies and engaging in battles, leaving everything in the hands of your Agents.

Here's the list of changes and bug fixes:

  • Automatic hunting! The order is available through Management Panel, or from Navigation Window when selecting a Waypoint. More information available on the wiki.
  • Added information about Agent manning requirements in trade window.

Thank you for all your support and patience.

Client and Server Update 1.1.19

We're happy to announce a new client and server update.

This is mainly a maintenance release, solving bugs and adding small features.

We also worked on the server engine to add some "backstage" features that will help us in adding the Patrol (Auto-hunt) order and to make stations conquerable in the next future releases. Yes, we're still planning to bring these features in the game within this year, as we announced :-)

Here's the list of changes and bug fixes:

  • enemies NPCs can (and will) now be spawned in fleets
  • Standings now include the Holding modifier, showing the ones actually being used by the game server
  • in Hire Agent Screen, there is now a very brief description for each Agent Stat
  • in Hire Agent Screen, "-" and "+" buttons for Stats are now disabled when reaching min/max value
  • in Mail Screen, there is now a "DELETE ALL" button
  • on mobile devices, the view rotates 180 degrees when rotating the device
  • added a new Deep Scan when taking control of a Ship
  • "Profanity Filter" option label is (finally) more clear, changing into "Profanity Filter for PM"
  • Throttle bar no longer goes under 1%, as initially intended
  • Planets texture is now a bit more light, to limit the "dark planets" effect
  • Fixed a bug with some Fleet Ships having NaN distance
  • Fixed a bug on mobile devices where the transfer popup did not allow to manually input a quantity
  • Fixed a bug where links in chat disappeared with the wrong speed
  • Fixed a bug with reference box not disappearing when needed
  • Fixed a bug where attacks did not land when fighting distance was around 12Km
  • Fixed a bug with combat music switching off too soon
  • Fixed a bug with warp out animation for other Ships not being always triggered

We will continue working on the remaining bugs, while we also work on adding low- and high-level Events as promised.

Thank you for all your support and patience.

Client and Server Update 1.1.12

We're happy to announce a new client and server update.

In this release we again focused on fixing some annoying bugs and implementing some small features that have been sitting in our todo list for too much time.

We've also added a new set of 20 agent portraits, and took the chance to polish them all a bit.

Last but not least, we finally added a second, cruiser-level event. It will probably need some tuning, but it should already be enjoyable. Look out for L.A.W. Ambush Sites in Hobert, Liriam and Zarius.

  • Reference Boxes will now automatically appear when the appropriate filter is selected and new ships come into sight
  • when Free Look is on, camera will go back to selected position after a gate or jump animation
  • System Map default zoom and angle slightly changed to avoid having markers outside of the screen at certain resolutions
  • when the range slider is set at 20Km, interactive commands are now disabled to make clear that they would not work
  • Fixed a bug where A.I. would sometimes keep a target gone outside visibility range and fail to switch attacking visible targets
  • Fixed a bug where Leadership XP would overflow if two ships in the same fleet killed two different enemy ships in the same moment
  • Fixed a bug where some L.A.W. ships laser animations could start from random points in the space
  • Fixed a bug on iOS and Android where chat elements and map buttons could overlap
  • Fixed a bug where in some case refining very small ore quantities for free could possible
  • Fixed a bug where zooming out (a lot) could break UI
  • Fixed a bug where switching between ships with interactive components turned on could initially not show interactive effect

We will continue working on the remaining bugs, while we also work on adding low- and high-level Events as promised.

Thank you for all your support and patience.

Client and Server Update 1.1.5

We're happy to announce a new client and server update.

With this release, we have fixed tons of bugs that were left behind while we were working on many features. Some of them are actual bug fixes, while some others led us to make small changes to prevent dangerous situations. We also made some U.I. adjustments.

And (drumroll, please)... We're releasing our first iOS version of Gates of Horizon on the Apple Store. It should be considered a test version, it still needs some heavy work, but we're releasing it today. First release version will be 1.1.1, while 1.1.5 will follow very soon.

Here's the list of changes and bug fixes:

  • iOS application will be released today on the Apple Store.
  • added some new loot to the final Event boss
  • A.I. assist / defend behavior and priorities are now better defined and are different in the two profiles. Check the Wiki for all the details.
  • it is no longer possible to set throttle to zero. Minimum value is now 1%. To completely stop a ship, the stop button must be used.
  • Ship Dismantle now automatically take care of Components and Cargo content, and will give a warning if a Ship is still in a Fleet before starting the process
  • Ships in fleet are now always considered visible
  • Planetary Base Stations will now be automatically positioned upon creation
  • agent list in Trade Screen will now be refreshed when switching between traders
  • added a limit of 400 characters to Chat input box
  • added a limit of 250 members to Holdings
  • "Armor Repair" value was added to Ship Details screen
  • System Map and Star Map 2D/3D setting will now be remembered
  • Entity Info popup is now draggable
  • Mail Notifications will be disabled during Tutorial to avoid confusing players
  • fixed a bug where Harvest order would not correctly stop from the Order Screen, in Management Panel
  • fixed a bug where a Holding could end up without a valid CEO
  • fixed a bug where a wrong default Cargo Transfer quantity could be applied
  • fixed a bug where A.I. icon would not appear for some fleet ships

We will continue working on the remaining bugs, while we also work on adding low- and high-level Events as promised.

Thank you for all your support and patience.

Client Update: 1.1.0

We're happy to announce the first Gates of Horizon major client and server release.

With this release, we are adding everything we need to create interactive Events in the universe! This is just a start, but a very exciting and promising one.

At the moment, you can find a high-level Event in Grossil, Muvor and Sinol. This is intended both as a tuning test for future Events, and as the first of our end-game contents.

In the next weeks, we will add low- and high-level Events, disclosing some more details about Gates of Horizon Lore and giving players some more chances to enjoy the game in new and fun ways.

Here's the list of changes and bug fixes:

  • Events!!! If you're brave, check the Distress Signal in Grossil, Muvor and Sinol.
  • Steam Cards are now out!
  • Deep Scan button in Navigation Screen now works as a modifier toggle button, extending the selected filter's range to Deep Scan range.
  • new option added: "Apply limit to Deep Scan ref boxes" will apply the "Max Ref Boxes" limit to Deep Scan Reference Boxes too. Option is active by default.
  • added Undock command to the Command Hexagon, for fleet members.
  • added Harvest command to the Command Hexagon. Target a Base Station where you want to drop your ores, from Navigation Screen, System Map, or Star Map.
  • split Market Search button in "Search (you buy)" and "Search (you sell)" to improve sell/buy selector visibility.
  • added a Stats Sum indicator in the Hire Agent screen, to help with Stats sum.
  • added a cinematic announce when entering a system.
  • fixed a bug where ships with A.I. turned on would only assist ships firing to a target, but not ships getting hit. Thus, a ship with no weapons would never receive assistance.
  • fixed a bug where a ship could be in fleet when building a Base Station. Now, the ship must correctly leave fleet prior to actually build the Station, as it was intended to.
  • fixed a bug where A.I. settings were not correctly used for active repairers/rechargers.
  • fixed a bug in Chat Screen, where sometimes [DEV] chat lines were truncated.

We expect, in the next days, to tune the current Event, after getting feedback from first players attempting it, and to quickly add some low-level events in inner systems. We'll keep you posted.

Thank you for all your support and patience.

GoH Trading Cards now available

Greetings space explorers,
we're happy to announce that Gates of Horizon Trading Cards are now available: collect them all!

Server and Content Update: May 21, 2015

Greetings,

we're releasing a maintenance patch that addresses some issues with A.I., hopefully bringing it back to an useable and useful state.

We're also updating our System Quest status, with three new systems opening up.

Here's a list of what's new:

  • The 3 new gates have been successfully aligned, and Alteris, Walan and Davon are now reachable. Please take care while sailing, as heavy Pirate and Alien presence has been detected.
  • outer neutral systems's asteroid belts now has aliens (instead of pirates) lurking among asteroids
  • chat system received some improvements, that should make it slightly more resilient to connection drops
  • skill descriptions have been revised, and should now give some more information
  • fixed a bug where a ship would sometimes randomly jump 500Km away
  • fixed a bug where assist would be triggered by attack commands instead of actual weapon shooting
  • fixed a bug where interactive repairers or rechargers would not interrupt correctly
  • fixed a bug where a ship docking could sometimes incorrectly turned on A.I. for all fleet's ships

Have fun!

Client Update: 1.0.42

We're happy to announce a new client and server release.

We finally started IOS closed testing! Write to support@hexkeep.com if you want to participate. IOS 8+ and Testflight is required (for the testing, the final app should run on older system without problems).

We also added an experimental system for granting Faction Standing in Crafting and Manufacturing. At the moment, numbers are willingly very small. We want to collect data, see how the system works, and make small adjustments in the next weeks until we will have a working mechanism.

Here's the list of changes and bug fixes:

  • Standing shift for Manufacturing: each time you spend money in Manufacturing (Crafting, Refining, Distillation) you will :
  • gain Faction Standing toward Base Station owner's faction
  • if the owner's faction is Hostile or Enemy toward your main Faction, you will lose Faction Standing toward your main Faction and their friendly Faction
  • Standing shift for Trading: each time you earn money selling goods, you will :
  • gain Faction Standing toward buyer's Faction
  • if the buyer's faction is Hostile or Enemy toward your main Faction, you will lose Faction Standing toward your main Faction and their friendly Faction
  • IOS version is officially in closed testing.
  • fixed a bug where A.I. assist was not working correctly. Now, ships will correctly aid fleet companions in attacking enemies
  • fixed a bug where using a Remote Recharger, Repairer, or Transferrer in fleet sometime caused other ships to start orbiting around the target
  • fixed a bug with missing 0 in distances under 1Km
  • fixed a bug where clicks on some command buttons were incorrectly sent to A.I. toggle button instead.
  • fixed a bug where clicking on an item in Market Search when Agent is not on Base Station would propose a Shuttle and then give an error

From here, we'll start working on Events. This will be probably the last patch for a while, as we expect it to be a very long work. We'll do our best to keep everyone updated on our progress.

Thank you for all your support and patience.
