Hey guys! We wanted to share what we’re working on and tell you plans for the next update.
We are back to making the next arena which also includes new gladiators, quests, and enemies.
Royal Arena will be the next challenge for completing the game.
It will come with quests, including new boss fights. Support Baroness by slaying a powerful monster in front of an important audience. Help People by destroying dwarven machinery that is replacing their jobs in front of everybody's eyes and prove that machines and technology are not superior.
We might release some gladiators as a smaller update even before the arena and quests are finished. We are back to completing the main game campaign, and we hope you guys will enjoy all the new things in the game. Each new gladiator, enemy, quirk, or item will also be implemented in the Tournament mode, automatically expending it and providing new powerful combinations to play with.
Thank you, guys! Talk to you soon! ːsteamhappyː

Tournament Mode Leaves Beta! V0.823
Tournament Mode is now available in the normal branch of the game. We fixed and improved a lot of things that you guys playing beta reported.
Leaderboard scores are now restarted as difficulty changed a lot during beta and some issues were fixed. So now’s your chance to get a really high place as we start from a blank slate! :)
Here is a video of me playing the tournament mode (and failing miserably to get a good score ːsteamfacepalmː). You can see how it looks and plays: [previewyoutube="ayfgvDoRKHA;full"]
Other
32 achievements are now available as well.
Tournament mode comes with a feature to choose which gladiators will be showing up in the shop at the start of the game. This feature is now also available while playing normal mode.
What is Tournament (endless) Mode?
It’s an endless game mode with a focus on quickly building unique teams, completing rounds, achieving the highest score you can, and comparing yourself with other players or your friends.
You’ll start with the preparation round. After the first three fights, you will be given a reward where you can choose one of the 8 random powerful gladiators, each having two positive quirks.
After finishing the preparation round you will again have six regular fights. In between those, you’ll get a free gladiator or a free item reward. The round will end with either a Swarm Fight where you’ll be facing a big group of wild enemies or with a powerful Boss Fight. Defeating them will earn you powerful item rewards, then let you choose a new unlockable gladiator, and move you forward to the next round.
You’ll start with five lives, letting you lose 5 battles before the tournament ends. Each fight will increase your score that will be uploaded to Steam Leaderboard where you can compare yourself with other players and your friends: (Note that Steam Leaderboard is optional, and you can disable it if you do not wish to participate.)
You’ll have your personal best and last scores recorded locally. There are three different leaderboard types. One for Normal game, one for Perma Death, and one for Total Score that sums up all the points you earned from each Tournament you played. (Note: Higher the gold compensation for fallen gladiators in PermaDeath mode will earn you a lesser score per battle)
In case you are having trouble winning a fight there are two options to help you out. On the right panel, you have a button to give up your life for more gold and give your team a needed boost to win. Or you can pay gold to completely skip that fight.
Let’s see how far we can push our teams and compete!
We are super curious to see how many points you can score in this new mode! We encourage you to join our Discord Community. We made a #tournament channel that is intended for sharing screenshots of your scores and teams that you developed. We’d love to see what kinds of interesting and unique teams you made!
As always all suggestions for improving this mode are welcome both here on Steam or on our Discord Community.
See you at the Tournament Leaderboards! Let’s have some fun competing and sharing our experiences and tactics! ːsteamhappyː
Patch 0.811 - fixes, quirk balancing
-Continuing the tournament after leaving the game could sometimes cause a game-breaking bug where previously saved enemy team would not be loaded. Now fixed.
-Buffed a dozen quirks that were not very popular since they are situational or require some conditions until they take effect. Now they are more useful and interesting choices.
Tournament Mode Fixes, Improvements, and New Things - v0.810
Be sure to check if Steam updated your game to v0.810 (You can see the version in Main Menu at the left bottom side)
Fixes and Improvements:
-Game freezing bug fixed -Normal game enabled in beta - there were many bugs that would be caused by switching from the normal mode to the tournament mode. Now tested and fixed. But if you run into any that we didn’t notice ourselves while testing, please report on Steam Community or Discord. -Blood and gladiator equipment over the Tournament arena are now removed at end of each round so the game doesn't start lagging from too many objects. -Gold inflation was not working on some of the features like Skip Battle or Life For Gold. So it was too easy to skip unwanted fights and it was not worth exchanging life for gold because it would always be 300g. Now in each round things will get 50% inflation. So for example exchanging life for gold in round 6 is worth 1200g instead of only 300g. Making the feature useful. -A looot of minor issues and bugs regarding Tournament Mode are fixed (Many of them were reported by you, so huge thanks for helping us out!) -Balancing both enemy difficulty and levels of gladiators in shops. The aim is for the game not to be too hard at the start, but to get very hard as you reach later rounds. Tell us how the balance feels. Too hard? Too easy? Just right? How many rounds can you reach? Write comments on this post or tell us on our Discord Channnel. -Several units from quests are buffed so they are now more useful in tournament mode.
New Things:
-Weather is now added to tournament mode and is changing in every next round you reach. -Skipping Boss or Swarm battle now costs much more. So if you want to avoid a difficult battle you’d have to have some gold saved. -If you choose to skip unlocking a new character for the shop at end of the round, you will now gain bonus gold for doing so.
Tournament Entering Main Game Branch
-On 5th April we’re planning to merge the beta branch with the main game branch on steam. Unfortunately, we’ll have to reset the leaderboard once the Tournament is out of beta, because the balance is now different, and there are other factors that affected the score. But if you played the beta and got familiar with Tournament, you’ll have the starting advantage and be able to get good scores quickly.
Thank you all for the feedback, bug reports, and for sending us your save game files so we could track down those nasty little bugs and squash them. We’re very excited to release the Tournament Mode to the main branch, see everybody competing, and marvel at your scores!
Minor Tournament Beta Changes and Fixed v0.804
-Few fixes that might cause problems -Skip Fight and Life for Gold are not affected by inflation (they cost or bring more gold as the game progresses) -Skip Fight now costs much more if you want to skip Swamp or Boss fights.
We're still looking for that nasty bug that starts the tournament with a black screen. It has to do something with the previously saved game. So if this happens to you you can remove the save game and it will work. Here is how: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1043260/discussions/0/3189118866220215096/
If you do not feel like removing the saved game don't worry. We're working on it and will find a solution soon.
Thank you for your patience!
Working on beta mode freezing issues
Working on beta mode freezing issues. Implemented Turkish localization (Now we have all languages) Few other small fixes.
Endless Mode: TOURNAMENT - Available In Beta Version!
The endless Tournament mode has arrived in Beta! Scroll down to the bottom of this post, where we explain how you can simply switch the version of the game to Tournament Beta and play the new content.
About Tournament Mode:
Here you can play a quick, simplified replayable, and more customizable version of the game. Give your best to build a powerful team, and take them through as many rounds as possible fighting gladiators, swarms of wild enemies, and powerful bosses.
Now besides the option to start with random gladiators, you can also choose exactly who your first three fighters will be. Letting you form any kind of tactic that comes to mind:
Tournament Gameplay:
Each fight will increase your score that will be uploaded to Steam Leaderboard where you can compare yourself with other players and your friends:

Achievements
In addition to Tournament Mode, we have also added Steam Achievements to the game. Although some achievements are for a normal mode which is not available in Beta at the moment. But once we merge both Tournament Beta and the original game they will all become available.
How To Switch To Beta Tournament Mode?
Tournament mode is in Beta Branch until we test it out and make more improvements. Then we will merge it with the main game.
In order to switch to Tournament Beta mode follow these instructions: * Select Gladiator Guild Manager in your Steam Library * Click on setting and then properties like this:
*Now click on BETAS tab, and then select: beta_tournament_mode
Your game will update to the beta where only Tournament Mode will be available. You can always go back to the original game by doing the same and selecting the "None" branch which will bring you back to the previous version's normal game mode.
Conclusion
Merging tournament and normal mode turned out to be a more difficult task than we expected. But we can look at this from the bright side. You guys can play normal mode without worrying about any issues with all these new changes. And we will have time to test and improve Tournament Mod before we merge it with the main game. You can access the update either way, but with this being in Beta we have more room to brainstorm with you guys, get your feedback and improve it before it ends up in the main game branch.
If you decide to give it a try let’s see how far you can push your gladiators through this Tournament arena! We can’t wait to see your scores and hear about the most powerful teams and items combinations that you will come up with.
This mode will be a great help with balancing gladiators as we’ll notice which ones are more or less useful (At some point we will add another Discord voting for buffing and nerfing units)
After polishing, adding a few more things, and merging Tournament mode with the original game, we'll continue developing the normal game. Adding new arenas, gladiators, quirks, and items so we’ll keep adding them to the Tournament mode as well and it will grow together with the rest of the game.
All your suggestions are welcome so feel free to contact us on our Discord or write to us on Steam Community. Since this mode is still in beta it is much more open for improvements and changes so we'd love to hear your ideas, feedback, and experiences! And eventually, we'll end up with a better version of this mode!
Thank you! -Entertainment Forge Team
Tournament Mode Coming In 5 Days! Beta Testing a Few Days Sooner!
If you prefer video over text, and want to see how Tournament Mode is looking at the moment check out this youtube video: [previewyoutube="1h7KFOO7tTo;full"]
So it will be 5 days of pure madness, way too much coffee, and way too little sleep. Which for some reason appears very exciting to us. The thrill of the challenge I suppose ːsteamhappyːːsteamfacepalmː
But we'll give our absolute best to get it done and we'll keep you guys constantly updated on the progress in our Discord Community on the "work-in-progress" channel. We plan to have it functional in about 3-4 days from now so we can make a Beta branch where you guys can try it earlier and help us test it, tell us some feedback, or report any bugs or issues you might run across.
How Will Tournament Mode Work?
You will have 5 lives (chances to lose a battle) and the goal is to push through as many rounds as possible and get the highest score you can. The score will be uploaded to Steam Leaderboard so you can compete with other players. You'll be also able to see scores of only your friends so you can compete with them directly and settle the dispute of who's the best gladiator manager amount you!
The mode will be simpler than the current game mode (now renamed: Campaign mode). Without quests, guild buildings, or wages. Each round will have several battles earning you gold and items. Each round will end with a boss or swarm fight that you need to defeat in order to progress to the next one.
Once you lose all your lives, you'll see your score that will be uploaded for all players (and your friends) to see and compete with you. Making it have a rogue-lite feel to it, with shorter playtime but high replayability.
There are other changes like being able to choose your exact starting gladiators (this will work on Campaign Mode as well). So you don't have to rely on the game giving you random gladiators but you can compose your starting team exactly the way you want it and plan for maximum efficiency.
We hope to see you in our Discord Community and join us in our journey as we're putting this together and share the progress with you ːsteamhappyː
Thank you for all the support! We hope you guys will enjoy this new addition to the game!
Once this is done and we keep expanding Campaign mode, this mode will grow as well with all new gladiators, bosses, quirks, and items that are going to be added to the Campaign mode.
Gladiator Shop Balance And Few Other Fixes - v0.771
The level of gladiators in the shop is reduced so you’re not encouraged anymore to sell your old gladiators for new higher-level gladiators.
There was still sometimes a bug where new gladiator buildings would stop appearing as you finish championship arenas. Now fixed.
Several quirks are now better assigned across gladiator classes. For example, Lone Wolf quirk (one that makes gladiators powerful if they are alone in the arena) won’t be assigned to classes like Cleric, etc.
Items: -Book of Fire now sets enemies on fire after 2 seconds (instead of 1). It's more useful this way, as there is more time for enemies to approach. It also has a slightly bigger range.
