We are proud to announce the hang glider is now live!
Based after the Wills Wing Falcon 4 Hang Glider, this is a beginner to intermediate wing known for its easy handling, stability, and forgiving flight characteristics. This is the first fixed wing glider in Glider Sim and offers a new and refreshing experience, that is especially fun to fly in VR! Check out the video below to get an introduction to the Hang Glider:

Update Early Access_2.2.4 - Thermals Land Class Sampling
-Add land class sampling to the thermal spawning algorithm. More likely to find thermals over rocky, dirt and gravel areas. Less likely to find thermals over trees. -Fix issue where ridgelift would randomly stop all of a sudden. -Add rotation clamping to 1st, 3rd person cameras (not in VR or TrackIR). -Performance improvements. -Make tree textures darker. -Slight brake dampening on Paraglider controls.
Update Early Access_2.2.2 - XC Race for Sun Valley and Tetons
-Add XC (Cross Country) Race challenges to the Tetons and Sun Valley Map. -Make cloud transparency fade in and out. -Fix leaderboards not displaying grades correctly for countries that use a comma. -Add “Wind and Thermal Visual aids” options to the in-game settings menu. -Make the warning about score not uploading to leaderboards a bit more clear when starting an XC challenge with “Wind and Thermal visual aids” active. -Smooth transition in sun direction when there is a time of day change. -Adjust weight-shift in the paraglider to not bend the middle of the wing so much. -Smooth out weight-shift and zoom input for gamepad and mouse controls. -Make sunset / sunrise light color more reddish. -Some more light and fog adjustments.
Update Early Access_2.2.1 - Hot Fix (Time Of Day)
-Fix fog colors during time of day to match horizon color. -Fix issue where time of day wouldn’t sync when first entering a multiplayer room. -Fix missing time of day info on preflight screen and map. -Fix issue where game could crash after pausing. -Remove the cloud shadows option in graphics settings for now. Cloud shadows is too heavily intensive on CPU and the effect is not working properly at long distances. -Remove yellow sphere bubbles at close distance when thermal visualization is active.
Update Early Access_2.2.0 - Time of Day, Thermal System Overhaul, Leaderboard!
-Add Monthly leaderboards to every challenge. -Note that scores will not be uploaded to the leaderboard in an XC challenge if you have wind or thermal indicators active… No cheating! -Add distance markers to XC challenge turn points. -Add XC challenge turnpoints on the 2D map. -Add landing zone target in XC challenge. -Each cell of the canopy now receives lift separately from a thermal, so watch if one side of the glider rises then turn into the lift! -Adjust turbulence while entering and leaving lift. -Thermal Activity has been replaced by Time of Day! -You can now set Time of Day between 6am and 10pm. -Time of Day is now synced over multiplayer. -Each challenge now has a separate time of day assigned to it. -Sun sphere is now rendered in the sky, pay attention to its position as it will help you identify where thermals will form. -Overhault the thermal system to render thermals and clouds at greater distances. -Thermals are now spawned based on time of day and the angle at which the sun is hitting the terrain. You will have heavy thermal activity in the afternoon and light thermal activity near dawn or dusk. -Thermals will form on sunward facing slopes and terrain. -All clouds now render in 1 draw call! Saving performance. -Cloud script only run near user saving performance. -Thermals bubble scripts will only run when the user is nearby saving performance. -Thermal bubbles are now rendered as circular sprites in 1 draw call when thermal visualization is active, saving performance. -Thermal particles will rise faster in the center of a thermal, as well as a darker color. -Updated thermal particle tails. Center particles will wiggle as they rise. -Change cloud color based on time of day. -Update to multiplayer v1.8. -Thermals will now sync exactly between multiplayer users. So if a thermal dies, it will die at exactly the same time for all other users. As well as when thermals form… -Fix cloud popping in multiplayer. Clouds will no longer just pop out of existence. -Thermal bubbles will be smaller near the ground and become bigger at higher altitudes. -Recalculate thermals and thermal drift on prewarm when weather changes are made. -Ridge lift has been expanded further from ridges. -Made camera panning / rotating smoother. Especially when using the keyboard / mouse and gamepad controller. -UI tweaks and cleanup… -Look forward to seeing your scores on the Leaderboard!
Update Early Access_2.1.9 - XC Race Prototype!
-Add new XC (Cross Country) Race 1 to Swiss Alps map. (Work in progress. Please provide feedback) -Add 2 new speed challenges to Sun Valley. -Fix speedwing issue with weight shifting at high speeds. -Add a bit more drag to speedwing landing on ground. -Gliders will not experience horizontal lift / drag from the character body while doing turns or barrel rolls. Should result in more precise turning at high speeds. -Lower the height of the gates on speed flying challenge Sun Valley. -Add weather conditions info to the challenge preflight screen. -Fix bug where activity would remain active even after exiting the challenge. -Fix bug where it would say you started a challenge instead of launch point. -Set thermal activity to 2 for all speed flying challenges so there are some thermals if someone is paragliding in multiplayer. -Remove landing target from Swiss Alps while in free flight. Landing targets will now only be active in challenge mode. -Destroy all thermals on thermal settings change. Then repopulate... -Adjust thermal drift in wind to be less intense. -Increase thermal density some so there are more thermals populating. -Wind settings will now increment in 5 kph increments instead of 5 mph increments. -Update to Multiplayer v1.7 -Fix auto-inflate settings not saving. -Add industrial park buildings to Swiss Alps map. -Pause game when challenge finished. -Make angular drag directly correlated to drag for easier control of speedwing at high speeds. -Change “Learn” to “Flight School”
Update Early Access_2.1.7 - Hot Fix
-Add 3rd speed flying challenge to Tetons map. -Add both ground speed (GS) and Airspeed (AS) to the variometer. -Fix issue where “Auto Inflate Canopy” setting was not getting saved. -Fix issue where all players in multiplayer could act as host starting challenges. -Only send “Host started challenge - weather updated accordingly” notification when host starts a challenge and weather has been changed. -Challenge will now quit / disable if the host changes weather while you're flying a challenge. This ensures cheating can not happen where you could fly with different weather than what the challenge requires. -Challenges are locked if the challenge does not match host weather.
Update Early Access_2.1.6 - Speed Flying Challenges!
-Introducing Scored Challenges! Each map will have a variety of challenges to play both in single player and multiplayer. After completing a challenge you will receive a score + grade. The grades go from A+ to F (fail). In this update we added a couple speed flying challenges, later down the road we will add Paragliding XC challenges, Paramotor challenges and mini-wing challenges. Online leaderboards will also become available at a later date. -Add 3 speed flying challenges to Swiss Alps, Add 2 speed flying challenges to Tetons, add 1 Speed flying Challenge to Sun Valley. -Challenges can be flown in multiplayer but you cannot start one unless the weather is valid, or you are the host. -Rename old challenges to lessons. -Update home screen UI to square buttons. -Fix bug where user could start under the platform while launching glider. -Freeze the body of the user when launching a glider until the intro cam is done playing, and VR calibration is done, so you don’t start drifting down the hill until you are ready. -Add windsock to the preflight so you can see wind direction at every launch point. -Increase speedbar input sensitivity some. -Reduce Anti-Aliasing from 8x to 4x on high settings while in VR to increase performance. -Add graphics options, Clouds Cast Shadows. (Note shadows will only cast 800 meters out so you will not see cloud shadows unless you are close to the cloud). -Add floating pontoon to lake in Tetons map. -Add to the credits: Environmental Artist: Mike Borger! (big thanks to Mike for taking the effort to help. We may have a new dedicated Environmental Artist which is awesome!) -Add Mike’s scenery updates to Swiss Alps which includes adding river / dikes, a 3d modeled restaurant, and spruced up terrain around the downtown area.
