We have moved the newer version of Goliath to the default branch in Steam. If you would like to continue with your old save file, you can install the older version of Goliath using the updated steps below:

To switch to the original version to use older save files:
1. Start Steam.
2. Find Goliath in your game library on the left.
3. Right click Goliath and select Properties.
4. In the Goliath - Properties window, click the tab labeled BETAS.
5. Click the dropdown box under “Select the beta you would like to opt into:”.
6. Click “Goliath Version 1”.
7. Click Close.
8. Steam will update Goliath.

To switch back to Version 2:
1. Start Steam.
2. Find Goliath in your game library on the left.
3. Right click Goliath and select Properties.
4. In the Goliath - Properties window, click the tab labeled BETAS.
5. Click the dropdown box under “Select the beta you would like to opt into:”.
6. Click “NONE - Opt out of all beta programs”.
7. Click Close.
8. Steam will update Goliath.

The Chinese language support is only available in the new version of Goliath. Goliath will run in the language that is set in Steam or in the Goliath Properties window in Steam. If Chinese is selected and the old version of Goliath is installed, it will run in English instead.

A brand new update!!!!!

A new version of Goliath is available in Steam which adds Chinese language support, cut scene narration, performance improvements, and various fixes. This version is available to anyone who owns Goliath on Steam and it can be accessed through the properties menu for the game.

German Localization Now Available + Updates

It’s been a while, but we’re happy to say that there’s a new update for Goliath today! The big addition is that the entire game has been localized into German so our friends in Deutschland can enjoy the game in their native language. In addition, this update includes several bug fixes and improvements, including:

  • The achievement to kill 50 enemies with a Crystal Goliath’s lightning storm attack has been fixed and now works properly.
  • The rewards notices after quests now display on screen longer.
  • The Molotov cocktail interface glitch has been fixed.
  • The incorrect description text for the Electric Power Sledge has been fixed.
  • The incorrect weapon plans order in the Weapon Constructor has been fixed.
  • Various translation errors have been corrected.
  • New feature: Olive can now repair multiple Goliaths for you in a single dialogue.

That’s it for now. We are hard at work on the multiplayer addition to the game and we hope to have an update for you on that feature soon!

Summertime Gnarkness DLC Available Now for Free

Hello, Goliath fans!

We are happy to announce that the first Goliath DLC, Summertime Gnarkness, is available now! You can grab it from the store page under the DLC section.

This DLC is recommended for high level players of level 30 and above. The Summertime Gnarkness quest unlocks automatically if you have completed the Lost in Translation quest requirements. It will automatically become your active quest when it unlocks, so if you don't feel up to the challenge yet, simply go into your journal and set a different quest as your active quest.

Announcing First Goliath DLC and Other Giant-Sized News!

Hey Goliath fans! We have some big news to share with you today. Goliath is getting its first DLC expansion next week, and it will be completely free!



Goliath: Summertime Gnarkness will be available on June 22 for free on Steam and adds a bunch of new stuff to the game, including:

But that's not the only big piece of news we have for you. We've talked about it before, but Goliath is officially getting a multiplayer update! Coming this fall, the multiplayer update will also be completely free and give you the ability to play through the game with friends. We'll share more details on the multiplayer update as we get closer to its launch.

One final note: If you're interested in playing Goliath but haven't checked it out yet, this one's for you! The Steam Summer Sale starts on June 23, and word on the street is that Goliath will be getting a pretty nice discount...

INCREDIBLY BADASS UPDATE 1.04!

Good day to you, Goliath builders! We are a little bit late with this update, true. The reason is, well, even though it was very cool update, it was pretty much breaking all save data. Which is totally not a good feature for an update, and not cool in general. But no worries, we found it in time, we fixed it, everything is alright now – now it is just a cool update.

THE MOST IMPORTANT

- BESTIARY! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ YASS! We added it! But if you think that you can easily find all the monsters by name while dancing and calling Dave – well, nope, at least, not exactly like that. You see, Gromov is new here, he pretty much knows nothing about monsters. BUT Drogkh, the hunter, knows A LOT about monsters! Go to Grogkh and ask his advice, he would be delighted to tell you about monsters everything he knows, and help you with experiments. With pictures and descriptions. Of course, to learn something new, you will have to defeat the monster first in a fair (or not so much) fight. But we believe in you. Gromov believes in you. You will make it! Just do it!

- CAMERA! ..stayed the same. And the camera controls too. BUT! Now you can zoom it out even more! It gives you comfortable full view. Now you can properly make out all the monsters trying to chew off different chunks of you. Please, leave us comments on what do you think about camera now. We kind of like it (But it is not about us, but you).

- WE’VE INCREASED LEVEL-CAP! UP TO 100! Yep: monsters can be even stronger now, your Goliaths – more powerful! And it is all not for nothing – we are preparing content update, by the way, it will be there pretty soon (but, hush-hush, for now. We will write separate piece about it – oh, we do love writing, you’ve probably already noticed it).

UI AND CONTROLS

- BESTIARY! We’ve already written about it. But, hey, IT IS BESTIARY! WE ARE UP TO WRITING ABOUT IT IN EVERY SECTION!

- NEW SYSTEM OF PRIORITIES FOR NPCS. Couldn’t talk to the trader without picking up all the items laying around? Worry no more. We’ve realized that we are not your mother to make you clean up all around. Now talking to NPC is always more important than picking up items.

- GLOBAL MAP WORLDS FIXED. Roboworlds were displaying as jungle worlds before. Obviously, roboworlds and jungle are extremely related biomes. But still different, yep.

QUESTS

- BESTIARY! As promised, writing about it again! No, seriously, we like it.

- LOST IN TRANSLATION: TROLL. Now troll follows you correctly, even if you are trying to confuse him and cunningly run away – nope, won’t work. We taught troll how to unfairly teleport just in case, to make the quest completable even it (he?) got stuck somewhere.

- CAMP BLADECATCHER could be generated with impassable rocks on the way (which is very disappointing, by the way). Won’t happen again.

- RABBITS AND TRAPS. Previously, caught in a trap rabbit could be accidentally killed, which could break the quest in a very original manner. Now you can still kill (accidently, right?) the rabbit, but the trap will immediately become available for the new victim. Open new horizons for your cruelty! (we still hope that it was an accident).

- OH DEAR, WE FINALLY FIXED RESPAWN OF COCOONS, BERRIES AND NESTS! Yes! All respawn now, the way it should be from the very beginning! More dodos, more spiders and inexhaustible source of jam for you!

- SMALL PROBLEMS WITH QUESTS AND DIALOGUES. Fixed it here and there, nothing important, but a loooot of it.

BUGS AND WEIRD_THINGS

- ABOUT BESTIARY..nope, we are not going to write anymore, totally not. We’ve already written 3 times about it. BESTIARY! Oops, sorry, hand slipped.

- ZANY ENEMIES. Sometimes tall enemies couldn’t hit Gromov, giving you a false sense of invulnerability and power. But we’ve finished with it! Now you are stomped on, chomped and crushed with a very special zeal.

- BLEEDING ROBOTS. Now when you damage the robots, robots will not bleed with blood only with clean engine oil.

- DECORATIVE STONES OF BROTHERHOOD VILLAGE are not destroyed with the Goilath skills now. Find another way to annoy the Brotherhood, ok?

- MINES IN TREASURES. Well, let’s be objective - it was weird and kind of rude. You dig up the treasure and get – KABOOM DEATH. So we took mines..AND HIDED IT IN A SURPRISE PLACE (nope, just got rid of it and that’s it).

- QUEST FOX DOES NOT BURN ANYMORE. This is the exact phrase from our internal patchnote for internal issue. We find it poetic.

- CUBIC TURRETS WHITHOUT TEXTURES. Funny looking little fellas. Unfortunately, it was a bug, and we got rid of it. We going to miss them.

- SNIPER THORNSPITTERS are no longer shooting you right in the eye from the distance of several kilometers. And behave more modestly in general.

- HUNDREDS, THOUSANDS, MILLIONS OF TINY BUGS. We keep improving the game and making it better and better with your help. Some of the improvements are internal, and all about the structure of the game, technical stuff – it may not be seen, but it really helps us prepare the base for fixes and improvements, as well as helps us not to break one things while fixing other.

Also, there are plenty of other small fixes, but we won’t post it all here in order to save you years of reading all these letters (we exaggerate, of course, but only a little).

But right before we share CHANGE LIST with you, we want to share NOT YET CHANGED LIST – the things that we remember about and working on, but which are still not there (but will be in upcoming updates very soon!)

- BESTIARY! You can almost hear us typing it down and inserting in the game at this point. Names of animals and monsters, their photos, as well as many other tales from our Drogkh about monsters, his mother, dog and naughty brother Gorgkh.
- ADVANCED GRAPHICS OPTIONS! Need some more time for this one, keep working on it.
- KEY BINDING! Remember about it and working on it!
- MORE GARAGES! Will be ready very soon.
- CAMERA TWEAKS! We twist and twirl it and keep searching for the right tweak. Thank you very much for showing us the options you like and prefer by editing .ini files – that’s badass first of all, but also helps us get your vision and find the right solution. We have some unresolved issues with render distance and performance on low-end systems, but we are in the process.
- A WHOLE BUNCH OF EVERYTHING ELSE! Our enormous gratitude to you, guys, for keeping sending us everything you send! We will address all of these very soon. Meanwhile, we’ve got a whole bunch of the thing we did fix. Here, take a look:

PERFORMANCE AND OPTIMIZATION

- We are still regularly finding all kind of things (that are causing performance issues) here and there. We find it, we fix it. In this update we’ve fixed another memory leak. All the rest are still there with us - can’t go anywhere on their own, apparently (which would be very convenient, btw).

UI AND CONTROLS

- WE’VE GOT F5 QUICKSAVE!!!11 (ok, we feel kind of awkward writing it in 2016, but it happens) Do you just love saving before encountering every other monster? WE TOO! And now we can do it together, hooray!

- Want to know what can be done with the RESOURCES FROM THE CHESTS now? You can use them while crafting at the base right away, without putting it in your inventory first! Bye, running from chest to chest! Hello, crafting of mines, weapons and repairing kits on an industrial scale!

- You asked it, we did it – SORT YOU INVENTORY! But, first, let us confess – something went a little bit wrong with it. Well, it is in alphabetical order. We worked on the sorting by object type but the update got sorting by alphabetical order type. Weird and awkward, mostly awkward. Please, feel free to write in the comments what you think about it using only conjunctions and interjections (challenge time!).

- RIGHT PRIORITIES for ICONS. Cause you know what is the most important? Where to construct your Goliath (base), where to loot some loot (chests), and where to get some of our finest quests (all these miserable and useless NPCs who are not going to even lift a finger on their own). Now all these icons will not be blocked by some earth-fed trees. All the icons also have correct size and scaling now.

- GAME CUSTOM CURSOR! We like it, sort of. But if you have even better ideas – send us your drawings, crafts and figurines from clay.

- INVENTORY BUTTONS became more contrast and noticeable. Just in case, you got it lost sometimes.

- IRON GOLIATH ROCKETS controls fixed. Try it! It can be targeted with the mouse now.

- IN DIALOGUES: chosen phrase now more highlighted, also added keyboard controls. Yep! Now you don’t have to rush and grab your mouse every time Dave calls.

QUESTS

- MAX NUMBER OF QUEST YOU CAN HAVE FIXED. We had quite funny thing going on (not so fuuny. Nope). If you have 11 quests at the same time – everything breaks. We fixed that. Now you can take EVEN 100! (we don’t have 100 yet, but, well, you haven’t seen all of our updates yet).

- WILLY FIXED. Now you can’t outwit Willy and complete quests of pirates without his tips. You could miss a whole dialogue this way. No good.

- EXPERIMENT WITH SCARING BIRDS FIXED. Experiment which was almost impossible to do if you trampled all nest and killed many dodos - is now easier. We couldn’t change it completely (because the condition is stored in the saves), but now you need to scare only 5 birds. Or 1 five times. In any case, it should be ok now.

- GREAT TREASUREHUNTER become much stronger! You asked for it! BWAHAHA!

- By the way, BOSSES are no longer affected by stun and push. Probably, you won’t be able to defeat them now. But the game designers are relentless: it is inhuman to stun bosses, they say. And that’s it. Hmmm.

- HORNS DROP RATE and EXP for BULLS INCREASED. It was quite strange to get horns so rarely from the only horned creature. Fixed that.

- QUEST “LOST IN TRANSLATION” FIXED. Sometimes robot was cheating and could not give you a discount even if you have already talked to trolls. Now everything is alright. Feel free to save your three hundred coins.

- QUEST TIMER FIXED. Timer in timed quests now behaves even after traveling between shards.

- And we couldn’t choose whether to put in “CONTROLS” or “BUGS”, that’s why we put it in “QUESTS”. Anyway, now you can DESTROY STUMPS and LOGS with your Goliaths. Surely, it annoyed you laying here and there on your way.

BUGS AND WEIRD_THINGS

- GOLEMS FIXED. Remember, how golems were attacking your Goliaths peacefully resting in Goliath Constructor? Well, we talked with them. They promised not to do this anymore. Well, “promised” is probably not the best word for it, they said “HMMM-HMM” or something like that.

- TOMMY GUN RAT BOSS FIXED. If you couldn’t do Experiment with the Rat Boss (one with tommy gun), that’s because he had more powerful twin brother, ignored by the Experiment. Now he is included in the Experiment as well. Punch the rats all the way you want.

- CHAROCAL GOLIATH FIXED. After the repair charcoal Goliath stopped igniting all around. Not anymore! Now he can set everything on fire!

- WATER FIXED. We fixed some water reflections and glitches. How you can hang water screenshots on the wall.

- TUTORIAL FIXED. We tweaked tutorial a little bit. You could eat mushrooms instead of heeling ointment and the quest didn’t like that. Now you can eat even berries, all of them!

- BERRIES! We’ve added so many berries in the tutorial that you basically can make jam from it! You, probably, already completed tutorial. But (!) you can rejoice at those who will see it (Besides, if you haven’t told your friends about Goliath – please do. We would be very happy).

- And the last thing on TUTORIAL. Tutorial notifications now are shown to you for longer amount of time. We understand, that these 3 tutorial fixes may be of no use to you. But, at least, the more points we have here, the cooler this update looks! (Don’t judge us!).

- IRON GOLIATHS SKILLS FIXED. Iron Goliaths sometimes were twitching during a jump and launched silent rockets (not simultaneously, though). We made some tweaks, now everything is alright.

- DEMO COMPATIBILITY FIXED. If you had played Humble Bundle Demo before playing Release version you could get blue funny whale on the black screen stuck there for you upon the start of the Release version. Fixed that (the Release version erases the saves from the full version automatically now). But if you miss the whale – just write us, we will send you a nice gif with our whale.

- BROKEN WEAPONS FIXED (sort of). After the destruction of Goliath you could get its broken weapon fixed quite magically. We assume that someone may have boldly used it - but, in fact, it was completely illogical thing (in the game with talking foxes and rats-gangsters, yep).

- PAUSE. You can pause the game while in dialogue. If you it is your thing.

- METEORS FIXED. Again. In the last update we blocked the possibility to endlessly dig a meteorite ore. In this one – we got rid of endless fall of meteorites while the game is paused ( it was quite possible to go get a cup of tea and come back – and, tadaam, you're are swimming in meteors like a Meteor King!) . In general, the tough times have come for the meteorite ore speculators.

- WHITE MAP FIXED. Sometimes map could become white after the resolution change. It was somehow beautiful, but not that much.

- If someone was patient enough to read this far – high five! Oh, and tell us in the comments how’s “Warcraft” movie, we kind of totally stuck here (no complaints) and can’t get to the theater for a while now.

- GOLIATHS FIXED. Your Goliaths, following you, could get lost. Now it is not that easy for them to do that.

- MORE SOUNDS. Added more lost sounds! SPLASH-SPLASH (that’s Gromov swimming), KABOOM-KABOOM (that’s Iron Goliath’s rockets exploding), CLANK-CLANK (that’s when you punch MechoScorpion), CRACKLE-CRACKE (that’s the fire, yep).

- BATTLE MUSIC. Turns on and off even more smoothly.

- TYPOS. A lot of them. Fixed.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT BROKEN QUESTS

Full-Scale Cleaning, Dead Forest – fixed with this update.

Quality Assurance – will be fixed soon. Please, try not to drink whiskey on other shard, that may cause the quest to break. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Other quests – if you have blocker-problems with main quests, that prevent you from following the storyline further (in other words, not side quests) – unfortunately, most likely it happened due to the cheat that wasn’t turned off. As simple and stupid as that. We cannot undo the harm caused by it, and your saves are hopelessly corrupted. We can’t find the right words to express how horrified and terribly sorry we are. In order to somehow compensate for this, we have prepared for you a few saves at the beginning of each major chapter, so you do not have to start the game from the beginning. PERFORMANCE AND OPTIMIZATION

- We’ve updated the engine. It should SIGNIFIALLY improve overall performance of the game. Try yourself: lags, freezes, long stares, night calls and other awkward things should no longer bother you (or do it less frequently).

- Loading between shards improved, goes faster! Gromov fixed his Portal, at last (actually, it was us, not Gromov, we just made some resources loading optimization)

- NO MORE CRASHES! *

*At least, we didn’t encounter any. But if you find any – we reprehend the person told us we could write it.

UI AND CONTROLS

- HOT KEYS! SUPER HOT KEYS! Press “M” to open the Map! Press “I” to open your Inventory. Press “P” to open your ExPeriments! Press “H” to jump off your Goliath and make it run alongside you (actually, this one was already there, we just wanted to remind you about this cool feature). Key binding is still in works, though.

- Stacklimit increased up to 100! First of all, we increased stacklimit for the chests. Then we though – nothing can stop us now. And we increased all stacklimits. Now you can loot as much as you want! (Within 100 units per stack, of course). Meanwhile, we are planning the update with upgrade system for the chests.

- Static main map. The North remembers is always up now!

- No more NO TEXTURE. Remember No Texture squares instead of some objects? You won’t be able to find them now (we hid it very well).

- Teleportator to Gadget panel. Teleportator now can be used via Gadget panel. Teleport with comfort!

- Right-click\RT to shoot! Now Gromov can shoot via right-click of your mouse (or RT), like your Goliaths (almost)! Try it and write us on whether it became more fun this way. It did the trick for us.

- A lot of other small UI improvements. Will be even more soon!

QUESTS

- Flenrik the Steady fixed! The furry (no, he is not) who guards the treasure, used to fall into a stupor from the first blow on the head with a stone. Now he is ready to take revenge and fight!

- Spider master from “Dead Forest” quest is fixed! Now Spider master is mortal, as all of us.

- Quest “Full-Scale Cleaning” is fixed! Clean all the oil puddles, save nature, be the hero!

- Creations' Patriarch is fixed! You can’t kill it now. Well, it is Patriarch itself, not some piece of mob!

- Great Treasure Hunter is fixed! Now, it won’t crash your game even if you’re rude to it. He behaves now, sort of. Well, he just take all your words into consideration and let you, cruel person, play further.

- Teleport to Citadel fixed! We made up our minds on the number of meteorite bars you need. It is 10, yep. Fixed the texts.

BUGS AND WEIRD_THINGS

- Quests are no longer get broken! And we can tell you why, even if it very embarrassing for us. We turned off cheat-code. Yes, this is very very embarrassing. We had one button on your keyboard (not used in controls scheme, but that can be smashed accidently), you press it – Dave calls. ANY time ANY place. So, Dave calls and gives you the next quest, breaking all the previous ones. It is simple like that, that’s why it literally kills us, we are terribly sorry, that it is that stupid. Fixed now. Sorry, Dave, don’t call us.

- Goliath Repair fixed! Remember how your powerful 40 lvl Goliaths turned into 1 lvl weaklings? No more! Repair your tough pals without looking back!

- Infinite Camps fixed! Gromov now can’t build infinite duplicates of Camps. It was weird.

- Meteors with infinite ore fixed! Unfortunately, we got rid of possibility to get infinite ore from Meteors in Robotton. Bye, infinite ore! We offer our condolences to everyone, who did not manage to provide themselves with mountains of ore.

- Base Chests fixed! Now they all of the same size. It was fun, though.

- Harpoons fixed! Now harpoons shoot differently! With ice, fire, electricity. First of all, it looks nice, right? Riiight?

- Weather fixed! Some minor changes – effects and stuff.

- Texts fixed! Misspells, mistakes – all fixed. And, yes, our brave Neanderthal hunter is no longer called Zorg, Grogkh and Drogkh. He is Drogkh.

- More sounds fixed! Yep! And even more fixes are in the works.

Major Updates On The Way!

Hey Gromovs, creators of giants!

Thank you so much for your support of the game and for all your feedback. As we've said before, we will continue to make bugfixes and improvements until we've corrected as many of the issues you've encountered as we possibly can. The next bugfix update is on the way shortly. In addition to these normal bugfixes, we're excited to share that we have three larger updates on the way in the next month!

Update 1 will will arrive next week and include many optimization tweaks and bug fixes. We expect that this update will address most of the remaining issues players have reported in the forums.

Update 2 will arrive not long after, most likely in early June. This update will include additional fixes and improvements, and will implement some of the suggestions from the community!

Update 3 is the big one! It will be the first official Goliath DLC expansion!. This expansion will include new features, new areas, new quests, and of course new Goliaths! We'll have more information on the first DLC pack soon, but we can answer one important question right now: Yes, this DLC pack will be completely free!

We look forward to sharing more news with you all soon. Until then, we have a favor to ask you all: Will you please send us more questions and comments on the forums? For the first time since it launched a week ago, Goliath has fallen off the front page of Steam's New Release section. The more activity around a game, the higher up the page it appears. So, busy forums will help more people discover our game! Of course, so will playing it! So if you can spend some more time talking about or playing Goliath, you'll be helping us reach more people, which in turn helps us make a better game!
