IGF WINNER?!?!!



Hey, I'm Ditto. I made a game called GoNNER together with my two friends Martin and Joar. GoNNER won an Independent Games Festival award in Audio Design a few weeks ago.

Like, real talk, this is really fucking weird. The IGF means so incredibly much to us, so winning one doesn't feel real. It's an incredible honor. Thank you.

Me, Martin and Joar tried to have as much fun as we could while making a game together. The whole project actually started when Martin asked me if this strange little platformer I was working on needed sounds. He figured he wouldn't have to make footstep sounds because of the way the game looked, Martin hates making footstep sounds. Joar and I once jammed and made 10 songs each in an hour, 3 of those are actually in the game today. Martin would sometimes send me a folder of literally hundreds of sound effects and then tell me "do something fun with these!". Our process was always about surprising and challenging each other creatively while having as much fun as possible. If we ever had a tough decision to make, the option that made us smile would be the one we chose. It makes me really happy to see that the fun we had while making it shines through in the game!

We're honestly still trying to process the whole IGF thing. Wow!

But it's not over! In fact, nothing is ever over, after all, we're living in a looped reality where nothing really disappears, it just changes. GoNNER is changing too! Slightly! We're working hard on a nice update that is coming out .. SOON!! I'm getting a lot of complaints that the game is too easy, so we're adding a bunch of new enemies that will make the game even harder for hardcore players. I'm not even a little sorry. <3

Oh and hey, while I've still got your attention. GoNNER is coming out on Nintendo Switch. Yep, really! You'll be able to bring GoNNER with you on your Switch while riding a train, going to hipster parties or whatever it is people do outside their homes. Coming to the Nintendo eShop this summer!!

MERRY HOLIDAYS!



Happy holidays or whatever one says this time of year!!

This update is a week late, but it's just in time for the holidays! This week I wanted to concentrate on polish and fine tuning, so this week's update is subtle but important!

  • The Shotgun got a tune up. It now fires a more concentrated burst of bullets.
  • Some various minor visual changes / tune ups.
  • Fixed a bug some players experienced where they were dying after beating the game. (sorry!)
  • General optimizations to a lot of effects and how particles get generated.

I'm not much for holiday celebrations, but I will indeed enjoy some free time to play a bunch of video games and hang around with loved ones.

Updated challenge!


Heyo!

There's an update up with some tunings and tweaks to the Daily Challenge levels!

Next week is going to be the last weekly update before the holidays. Post a comment if there's something you'd love to see in that update maybe? Who knows what happens!! Stay tuned, stay fresh!


  • Fixed some acceleration glitches when using Time Stopper backpack
  • Fixed some icons not displaying properly in the highscores.
  • Spawning outside of the level in Daily Challenge should now be fixed!
  • Added some more variation to Daily Challenge, and added a chance to meet some of the bosses in there for good meassure!

OH SNAP! UPDATE TIME!

This weeks update contains a handful of nice little fixes and tweaks. But most of all it contains my new favorite backpack, the time stopper! If you want to find it, you'll have to search the ceiling, but be quick about it!


  • Hedgehogs can now be hurt a few frames after they start hiding.
  • Enemies you kill will always update the combo counter now. Even if they don't award points.
  • You can now see items you haven't unlocked yet, in Deaths lair!
  • Fixed a bug that could soft lock the tutorial levels.
  • There's a handful more enemies in Robot Kings level now!
  • TIME STOPPER BACKPACK!
  • I changed how gamepads are identified. Hopefully fixing issues some players had with gamepads not being found by the game.


And finally.. This week saw 2 players compete like crazy people over the top score. Horheristo and Spleen are both over 100k. 100.000 points. ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND POINTS! WHAT? YES! HOLY POOPSICLES! Congrats to both of you!

Two new heads!


OH SHI- NEW HEADS? WOAH!

Black Friday is coming up, and to celebrate consumerism we've added two new heads to GoNNER!! They're hidden pretty well though, so you'll have to search carefully!

I've also added VSync to the graphics options, hoping the game will run a bit smoother for more people now!


  • VSync! Woah! SMOOTH FPS INCOMING???
  • Invisible ceiling to open levels. No more flying forever.
  • Pyramid head: shorter backpack cooldowns! NICE!
  • Heavy head: ... makes you heavy. Removes pushback from guns and deals more damage when jumping on enemies.


Finding the new heads are going to be pretty tricky. Here's a hint for one of them:
Somewhere in a bright place unless you died already.

More Ghost Friends!



WHAT'S UP!

It's Friday! Let's update GoNNER? YEAH! oKAY! CooL! CAPSLoCK! HAHA!

I'm super excited about this update, there's a lot of cool new stuff! I've recently started experimenting with some super professional shaders and stuff. I didn't want to go overboard, so the changes are pretty subtle but it turned out super smooth! Hope you like it!

On top of that, there's now friendly ghosts! They're really helpful. There are 3 different ones in total, but you can only have one ghost following you at a time. How you find them I'll leave up to you! :)

LIST TIME!


  • ANTI EFFING ALIASING (also known simply as AA, lol)
  • BLOOM
  • "CONTRAST ENHANCEMENT"
  • Gear ghost: picks your gear back up so you won't have to!
  • Gun ghost: helps you shoot stuff PEW PEW
  • Glyph ghost: picks up glyphs for you. Really, who has time for that stuff, right?


Hint to get a ghost friend:
Sometimes when you're hurt, the best thing you can do is hug a friend <3

Hey yo whaddup people!

There's a new update for the game! I try to upload a new update every week by the way! WOAH!

This week I've added a little something to the daily challenge, a friendly fairy-ghost-spirit-thingy! It'll help you keep track of your gear! Sweet! In a future update these will pop up in the main game, there's even going to be different kinds with different abilities! But until everything works as intended you can at least get a first feel for it in the Daily.

Apart from that this week's got a bunch of nice polish and balance:


  • There's an extra tutorial level in the "intro", and you can now play the intro from the main menu!
  • Camera mode, available in the gameplay options! If you dislike the camera, you can make it stop trying to be fancy now! NICE!
  • A minor fix to input handling. Hopefully more devices should work now!
  • A fancy controls display in the splash screen!
  • Sharkfin now gets deactivated when jumping through a World Snake.
  • Grey Bopskulls (the skull enemies in Death World that get grey if you kill enough of them.) no longer award combo.
