A new weapon appears!



HEY! HI! HELLO!

We're happy to announce a pretty hefty update to the game! Most notably is a big amount of optimization, hopefully resulting in stable 60 fps for a lot more players. Even more notable is the addition of a new gosh darned WEAPON? WOAH!!

Alright, bullet points time!!!

Gameplay changes:

  • A NEW MELEE BASED WEAPON, THE SCYTHE! I'm so excited about this one, we've been talking about melee since the first months of development but never got around to implementing one. FINALLY!
  • The Daily Challenge levels have been updated with some more layout variations.
  • The merchant now decorates his little hangout with lamps ... or mushrooms ... What are those things anyways? This game is really confusing.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a clipping issue that let you move through walls while inside the World Snake butt when entering a new level.
  • The merchant in Deathworld now stands on the ground like a normal person, instead of hiding outside of the level.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed permanent invincibility with the Godbox.
  • The leaderboards should now display "Nothing to show" if you don't have an entry yet, instead of "loading" forever.

Performance improvements:

  • Game now soft caps at 60 fps, which should allow for smoother fps in general.
  • Fixed a memory leak caused by sound sources. Should have a massive impact on performance!
  • Reduced the amount of server calls to Steam.


Finally, here's a little hint on how to unlock the scythe:
It's VERY expensive.

Daily Challenge!! New Update! WOAH!
Only playable once a day. Everybody gets the same level. With a seperate leaderboard that. Everything resets at midnight every day.
EVERY DAY.

There's also fixes, patches, nerfs, buffs, balancing and polish. I'll write anything even remotely sensitive in spoilertag underneath to avoid spoiling it if you want to play blind! :)

UPDATED STUFF:

<*>Flame head makes you invulnerable to explosions, but has 2hp instead of 4.
<*>Gunhead now fires EVERY TIME YOU PRESS THE SHOOT BUTTON. REALLY?
<*>Shotgun bullets die after flying for a little while now, effectively lowering it's range a little bit.
<*>Unused runes will give you points when you end your run now.
<*>Lightninggun bullet now dies unless it hits something within a short time. Making it more dependent on doing chain attacks.
<*>Fixed the Infinite Combo achievement. Sorry about that.
<*> You can now set your Keyboard setup, in options, to qwerty, azerty or qwertz. This is a quick compromize until we can update with completely rebindable controls in a future update. Until then, if there's a setup you miss, or feedback on the controls in general, I'm all ears! <3
<*> You can turn off "wall sounds" in audio options now. Should help increasing your framerate in some cases.. There's more performance options/optimizations coming later as well.
<*> MIGHT have fixed the lag when robot boss is dying. Don't know. Hope I did. If not I'll try to fix that asap.
<*> Bullets no longer occasionally immediately disappear when wallsliding during lower framerates.
<*> Lots more small fixes in a lot of places. Not gonna get more specific than that.

Thank you SO MUCH for playing and talking about the game! Watching videos and reading your comments about it helps me a LOT in trying to balance some of the items, but I also study it to figure out anything that would be cool/good/useful/nice/fun to add! Thank you!! <3
There's more updates planned in the future, we've got some really fun ideas we're playing around with that we'll talk about later maybe? Or just push it out in an update without mentioning it? We'll see what happens.

Hello hey, heey!

I'm just here to say that I'm working on a pretty major update to the game. There's quite a few changes, fixes and balancing to the current game. There's fixes for keyboard controls. There's Performance fixes. There's even more visual crazy for high combos. There's even more secrets! Most notably though, there's Daily Runs! WOAH!

The missing intro level...

It turns out some people didn't get to see the intro levels when starting up the game for the first time. I've found and fixed what could be the cause for that!

If you haven't seen the intro, and want to, there's 2 ways.

You can either delete your savefile from the options. This will delete all your heads/guns/backpacks though! (Your highscore is save on the steam servers!)

Or, if you want to keep your items, you're going to have to localize GoNNERs savefiles, which are typically located in "appdata/LocalLow/ArtinHeart" (on windows) and delete the file named "skullhead".

The intro is super short, but super sweet. I hope you'll like it if you missed it the first time you played the game.

I'm Ditto, I'm the programmer and artist on GoNNER! I'm so incredibly happy to have the game released and out in the public, it feels so weird and incredibly cool!! :D I'd like to say THANK YOU to everyone playing the game, it made my heart beat double seeing the leaderboards fill up with names today! Thank you for playing!!

I also just wanted to let you know I'm currently working hard making the controls rebindable in the GoNNER. I'm not sure how long it will take but it's coming VERY SOON, that's a promise, so stay tuned!!

We're planning a lot of cool stuff for future updates as well btw, more info on that early next week! I read every word you write in the forums and everything is taken into account when planning where to go with the game now! I'm so incredibly proud of the game we've managed to create, and also super excited about seeing if we can make it even better in the future!

ps. renamed the "Farmer" achievement name since it was misleading

Heya!

First off, I just wanna give a gigantic thank you to everybody currently playing on streams, on youtubes, for reviews, for giving me feedback and QA!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! <3

You may have noticed that the leaderboards got wiped yesterday(sorry!), it was necessary to update what information gets sent to the server, to display more interesting results! Right now, apart from time/score, you can see all the items you used in your run, and what boss you managed to kill. It's a nice start, and I'll definitely update the leaderboards more in the future! (Oh and also, the leaderboards are going to look a little weird until everyone is playing the latest update. I'll try to delete 'old' entries every now and then to make sure it behaves like it should.. Just a heads up!)

Anyways, hope you enjoy the game, I'm really enjoying seeing your videos and scores on the leaderboards! I'll go back to fixing bugs and polishing now! Wednesday is SO CLOSE! There's going to be a new update tomorrow night, with some bugs squished and updated sound effects, so keep an eye out for that! <3

GoNNER is out SOON!

GoNNER arrives on October 12 for Windows / Mac / Linux. That's only a few days away!

We've let content creators get an early stab at the game so if you're curious on what the game entails hunt down some videos on YouTube and Twitch.
