While we are intensely working towards Good Company v0.8, we want to make your wait a little shorter and bring you some improvements and fixes in the meantime. Read along to see what today's patch v0.7.8 has in store for you and be sure to share your feedback. Enjoy!

Patch Notes v0.7.8
Keybindings Following community requests to add configurable keybindings to Good Company, we have implemented keybindings editing through a specific game file. Of course, we will eventually include this option in the settings menu. The file “keybindings.json” is located in the game's main folder or will automatically be created if it’s missing. Please note that the key bindings use the Unity KeyCodes.
Conveyor Belts and Logistics We are improving conveyor belts to make them work with automatic logistics as intended. As a first change, shelves used by automatic storage and retrieval systems and connected to a conveyor, will now be properly considered by the logistics AI. Please note: the shelf and the start/end piece of the conveyor belt need to be in the same work zone!
Bug Fixes
Drawing a work zone over pre-existing tables and shelves could lead to breaking logistics for the respective equipment. Also, some interfaces would not display correctly. This is fixed now.
Not having enough storage shelves in a production area could result in having more item rules than slots on a shelf, which broke logistics. This is fixed now.
Employees used to spawn at coordinates 0/0 on a map, in case the default entrance was blocked. Now every map has a proper default spawn point which is accessible at all times, set only to buildings that have been purchased.
Good To Know #3 - A Change of Seasons
Greetings, Tinkerers & Tycoons!
With Good Company's Early Access launch in spring and its first big update v0.7 in summer, we want to talk about the upcoming change of seasons and with it Good Company v0.8!
This update will introduce a bunch of new stuff and we're already very excited about what's included. Please read on to find out more.
Recap - Good Company v0.7.7
Our latest update brought many QoL improvements and bug fixes to the game. For one, it makes organizing Work Zones way easier by enabling players to simply create new zones within existing ones, and to overpaint equipment in order to include it in a zone.
Another focus for this update has been to communicate more clearly to players when logistics issues occur. We added more and better clarified warnings, but also some errors that get distinctively displayed on the HUD level. Errors are supposed to be solved immediately since they can block production, while warnings indicate a problem, but nothing too drastic.
Besides the QoL update, we have fixed many bugs, most of which were affecting pallets, reservations, and the stability of the game. If you encounter any new problems, please don't hesitate to report them and be sure to share as many details as possible.
Last but not least, we've recently introduced another kind of treat for our good tycoons. Have you noticed? A bunch of lovely Good Company Steam Trading Cards is available! So, have you already completed your set? No? What are you waiting for then?! :)

Outlook - Good Company v0.8
While Good Company has been focusing on production related topics, with the upcoming big update, we're shifting the emphasis a little towards general company development. Also, a lot of UI improvements are in the making. Let's have a look at some details...
Company Goals
Soon, Company Goals will be spicing up your endeavours! These tasks can be taken on at anytime and blend in well with your daily company routines. Upon completion, Company Goals will always reward you a certain amount of Success Points depending on the difficulty, as well as a passive effect that will be permanently active. These range from buffs on production speeds to additional conditions to earn more Success Points while you progress through the game.
Business Development Tree
Tycoons have individual approaches for developing their companies. By unlocking nodes of the new Business Development Tree, you gain access to different kinds of equipment - new tables, storages, or means of automation, for instance - instead of getting them via Milestones. Furthermore, you can unlock Policies here, which offer perks you can apply to Work Zones to increase their efficiency. We are going to share more information about Policies in another post.
New Freeplay Map
For those of you who have already made the most off the two existing Freeplay maps, we are adding a new environment: the autumn map "Golden Acres". Not only does it contribute to the visual variety of the game world, it also offers lots of buildings you can use to set up an amazing company - and plenty of space to wander off a bit if you need to reflect on your next moves. The autumn map also features rain as a new weather condition to enhance the seasonal experience.
Ambient Sound System
As for the acoustic experience in Good Company, we are working on an Ambient Sound System. Its purpose is to check the environment your character is located in for the amount of employees, as well as how many and which kinds of machines/tables are present. According to this situation, ambient sound effects will be triggered to better reflect the surrounding activities, and thus improving immersion.
"Good Company is all about building a successful and dynamic business. For this to be fun, we don't want to solely rely on systems or numbers. We want the world to be vivid and enjoyable. Thus, we are introducing an Ambiance Sound System with v0.8 which aims for delivering an improved acoustic experience. A small room with a handful of tables should feel different than a hall where many employees and machines are active. We are really curious about the outcome!" – Patrick T., Sound Designer
That's it so far, fellow Tycoons. Stay tuned, more details about the next big update Good Company v0.8 will be heading your way soon.
In the meantime, we wish you all the best and stay safe, everyone!

Patch Notes v0.7.7
Work zone drawing got updated. There are now two modes for drawing:
Add New Zone: Creates a new work zone, even within an existing one (without having to delete parts of it first)
Extend Zone: Extend Zone: Allows you to extend any existing workzone.
With the new drawing modes, it is now possible to draw over equipment to include it in a Work Zone.
More gameplay notifications and top-level display of those:
Tables now display bubbles containing information when something is wrong with the setup.
More Courier/Work Zone-related warnings and error notifications have been added.
When an error occurs in a system (e.g. Courier Routes), an icon will be displayed on its respective system button at the top of the screen.
We want to improve players' awareness of what happens in their company. However, the notification system is not finalized, yet. Please let us know how you feel about the range of warnings and error messages. Also, let us know if there are any other specific notifications you'd like to see included as the system develops.
Other improvements
The Blueprint Designer now features a 'Clear Design' button to reset all previously added modules from an unfinished blueprint.
When the mouse cursor leaves the Blueprint Designer's grid view, any attached module preview will be hidden.
Employees now spawn at the building entrance closest to their workplace. If this is not possible, they spawn in the building the camera is focusing on.
Storages and conveyor segments now also display item rules. Used slots can be edited through this menu.
Item rules that are required by the automatic system can not be deleted anymore (courier pallets).
Switching the mode category in the Blueprint Designer will reset the current module selection.
A trashbin slot has been added to the right of the player inventory. Items can be discarded by dragging them on to that slot.
The Work Zone panel now features a button to open the Courier System’s panel.
Stack sizes and Weekly Demands are now listed in Components' and Modules' tooltips.
To play the Freeplay mode, level 2 of the Campaign needs to be completed with the selected player profile.
Reservations on belt systems will now be stopped between shelves.
Info Browser now lists cases as required modules for products and has some visual tweaks added.
The Financial Overview no longer displays large numbers with scientific notation.
Previously set game speed will be restored after game pauses automatically:
e.g. the game was paused when switching to the game menu, the game will remain paused when exiting the game menu
e.g. when fast forward was active before an automatic pause occurs, fast forward will be active after unpausing.
Bug Fixes
Fixed a critical issue that had various strange effects on pallets and their reservations. Please note: some set item rules might change with the update.
Fixed an issue where courier employees sometimes won't deliver all the items they have picked up.
Stability update: it will now happen less often that a game session could not be started.
Fixed a logistic bug with conveyor belts where removing retriever and storage segments would cause lags and logistic errors.
Interaction range indicators for shelves have been removed.
Conveyor belts and segments should now properly add rules to shelves
The UI highlighting in the introduction of the Freeplay could get bugged. This has been fixed.
Removed visual implication that the last market phase in Freeplay can be advanced.
Period punctuation in savegame names should now be properly displayed.
Fixed a UI warning on machines falsely notifying players about missing recipes.
Typing in the Info Browser's search field won't trigger hotkeys anymore.
If an entrance where a new employee is supposed to spawn is blocked, the employee will spawn at the nearest possible entrance.
Good to Know #2 - Full Steam Ahead
Greetings, Tinkerers & Tycoons!
It's mid-August and the heat has taken a toll on all of us. But, somehow, we've never felt more productive! Not only are we improving logistics, but we are also preparing many smaller improvements for further updates during the 0.7 cycle. On top of this, we're also working hard on developing the next significant update already!
Logistics
We've continued to comb through all the community's feedback and take suggestions on board. It’s easy to underestimate how much work is required to make such a complex topic understandable and make it fun to use.
Last week, we updated the game with improvements to the courier system and added preferred storage. In case you missed it, the patch notes are available here.
We still have a list with a bunch of open tasks that we'll be taking care of. Here's a small overview of what to expect in the coming months:
Adding the rule view to shelves
Adding the option to create rules on shelves manually
Improving conveyor belt item rules
Improving conveyor belt construction (like ending in curves)
Additional conveyor belt segments
Better workflow to connect work zone logistics with belts
More to come
Community
As we are a small indie developer, we are very dependent on the feedback of our community. If you're enjoying the game, we'd really appreciate a positive review over on Steam or, if you feel there's room for improvement, please let us know through our official channels:
As usual, we are around on the web and have come across some interesting videos and other Good Company content. Our favourites from the past two weeks:
Do you make content for Good Company? Share it with the community and us!
Our wiki has also made some significant progress with a few new articles now and then. Especially for the last logistics updates, we worked on a few new entries with the community:
If you want to help as an editor, you can simply join our Discord and then use your Discord account to register on the wiki page.
Update 0.7.7 - Working on Feedback
We already prepared the beta for the next update, and you can join! You can find the latest beta thread on Reddit.
You can join the beta by merely switching to the beta branch. For more information about betas and how to participate follow this link: https://www.reddit.com/r/goodcompany/comments/h0amx3/general_update_information_for_our_good_community/.
The primary features of the next update will be:
Changing how work zones are being drawn, now also including overdrawing of equipment and creating new zones in existing ones.
More warnings and displaying them on a top-level in the HUD so that problems can be identified earlier -> we need feedback on this one!
We also started to work on smaller feedback given to us through various channels. Most prominent is our feedback list on Discord, which our bot keeps up-to-date and people can vote on the most important entries.
The update is expected to go live by next week (around the 25th - 27th August)
Fixing bugs, in general, is a rather dry and cumbersome experience. But when I’m working on bugs, which were automatically created from feedback on the discord server, it feels much more pleasant and meaningful. The bug fix will not only make the game a bit smoother but maybe also brighten up the personal game experience for someone out there. That said, thanks a lot for your feedback and bug reports! - Patrick, UI developer
Update 0.8 - An Outlook
Update 0.8 is also in the making! With a strong focus on the business aspects and additional content, such as a new level and a new Freeplay map.
We have a shortlist with the rough points for now.
Business Development Project Tree > Unlocking of Equipment and Policies by spending Success Points
Company Goals > Fulfil selectable goals to earn Success Points
Work Zone Policies > Add policies to work zones to improve productivity
Conveyor Belt Improvements
A few new Machines
A new level and a new Freeplay map
We will post more information with the upcoming news where we will focus more on single features to come.
Thanks for your support! Don't forget: A positive review, retweets and sharing will help us to spread the word and get the feedback we need to continually improve Good Company!

Good Company - Patch v0.7.6
Greetings, Tinkerers & Tycoons!
After four weekly patches introducing a variety of smaller improvements and fixes, we have a bigger package coming your way today - Good Company v0.7.6! Our main focus, for the time being, remains on making logistics easier to handle. This patch also includes a more detailed system to trigger hints and warnings to make controlling your production more accessible. Last but not least, we have found some bugs and stomped them without mercy.
As always, a big shout-out to our community for supporting us with helpful feedback, detailed bug-reports, and tons of insights by providing Let's Plays.
You rock, keep it up & stay in touch!

Patch notes v0.7.6
Preferred Storages
Crafters, Assembly Tables and Analysis Desks now have an option to be connected to Preferred Storages
These connections can be set independently for the input and output of said tables
In automatic logistics mode, this option will make logistics pick a set storage as the primary solution
If a Preferred Storage doesn't have enough space available (e.g. blocked by buying/selling orders, the courier system or other Preferred Storage settings), a warning will be triggered and the storage can’t be selected
Changing the crafting recipe on a table can render a Preferred Storage invalid because of new item requirements
In this case, the affected setting will be clearly marked
Until the problem is solved, the automatic logistics system will provide an alternative connection
Preferred Storages do NOT work in manual logistics mode
Courier System Improvements
Courier Pallets UI has been streamlined. Courier Rules got moved to the Courier Routes panel and can be accessed from a pallet through a Configure button
The UI now only displays the inventory and a list of Item Rules
Item Rules can be set to Buy Order, Sell Order, or Logistics Only
Sell Order amounts got simplified and are now adjustable in 5% steps
Buy Order amounts are automatically set to the maximum amount of available slots
Courier Rules for a specific pallet can now be adjusted in the Courier Routes UI
Clicking any pallet on a route displays its respective Courier Rules, including input/output settings
The player is also able to add new rules through this interface
While editing routes, new pallets need to be actively added to a route through a button
[NOTE] In Campaign level 1, milestones 1 and 2 have been slightly adjusted to address the new interface. You may want to revisit this passage in case you want to learn details about how to set Buy and Sell Orders after this patch.
HUD Updates
Buttons that opened big windows can now be found at the top of the screen
Hotkeys for those windows have changed:
Courier System: N -> F5
Blueprint Designer: B -> F6
Market: M -> F7
Research: T -> F8
Notifications are now displayed at the bottom right corner
Trending balance has been moved directly below the current balance
Data points overview can now be found in the top right corner, all currencies/points will be placed there from now on.
Improvements
Various warnings and information tooltips were updated for better readability
New warnings for the courier were added to make occurring issues on a pallet more obvious
From now on, a distinct warning will be displayed when switching between manual and automatic logistic mode, informing players about resulting changes in gameplay
A new toast message system now displays warnings more visible in the world
Assigning employees and Preferred Inventories now also works with drag and drop
Crafters, Assembly Tables and Analysis Desks UI are now more consistent
Rearrangement of elements of the main UI for improved structure and handling
Bug Fixes
The destination pallet in the Module Mania challenge sometimes would not be filled with the required items. This has been fixed.
Upgrade costs for tables were not displayed correctly in certain challenges and some difficulty setting in Freeplay mode. This has been fixed.
Company statistics didn't display the correct amount of material consumption for components. This has been fixed.
Quick hire would not assign available employees to a table but hire new ones instead. This has been fixed.
Crafter panels wouldn't close after crafter got deleted. This has been fixed.
Various text fixes
Good Company - Good To Know #1
Greetings, Tinkerers & Tycoons!
Phew - what a summer so far.
End of June, we released the first biiig update since we launched into Early Access. Good Company v0.7.0 introduced a lot of new as well as redesigned features which changed the way the game is played, well, quite distinctly.
As always, our community was very supportive with giving helpful feedback. Thanks for that! Also, players reflected that not everything introduced with the update clicked as smoothly as we were aiming for. Thus, following your reports, we have provided four weekly patches to iron out a whole bunch of issues.
If you missed the developments of the past weeks, don’t worry. Here's a summary for you. We..
fixed stability and performance issues. Especially the automatic logistics and long belt systems were causing some trouble.
improved automatic logistics with better rules and more sensible defaults in a way you would expect the AI to work.
introduced QoL improvements such as:
removing the range restriction for the player character to interact with shelves and pallets.
switching crafting jobs at any time
deconstructing conveyor belts while they still carry items
more job applicants
fixed several smaller bugs like issues with the quick hiring, missing icons, false-positive warnings, and more
added Discord Rich Presence: Discord now displays the map/level/challenge you are playing on
If you are interested in more details, why not visit our Good Company wiki (yes, we have a wiki!), where we have helpfully listed all previous patches and updates.
Community spotlight
Our invested community constantly shares interesting content about Good Company. Here are a few picks we think are worth taking a peek at:
If you create or find any cool content for Good Company, don’t hesitate to share it with us and the community on our official Discord and Reddit!
What's next
Needless to say, we are already working on more improvements. One of the key areas we're looking at is a better means of interaction while using the automatic logistics mode, so that its handling feels less rigid.
Next week's patch, Good Company v0.7.6 will introduce Preferred Inventories for Workplaces to be connected to, in order to provide more control over automatic logistics. Furthermore, the patch will offer functionalities to add rules to Courier Pallets to fine-tune how transportation can be organized with this powerful system.
What our producer Marc/Aayph has to say: "I totally get players expressing their concerns with some aspects of the current logistics system. They feel like not being properly in control – I can relate to that. There are situations, where I as the company's boss want to tweak the behaviour of an employee or such little things, without the need of micromanaging everything. But I'm confident: In general, the system has been received positively and players asking for improvements show that we took the right approach to declutter logistic workloads."
As always, we're keen to hear what you think! Now that you have had some time to get adjusted to the new logistic system (and we have had a chance to tweak it step by step)... what are you looking forward to the most regarding features & improvements? Let us know in the comments below!
Before we say goodbye for now, please find some (pre)views below :)

Good Company - Patch v0.7.2
Greetings, Tinkerers & Tycoons!
In order to further streamline the features and changes introduced with Good Company's big v0.7.0 update, we are happy to roll out an additional patch. It addresses a few important issues shared with us by our community and aims to ensure smoother as well as more comprehensible gameplay regarding logistics. We hope you like the improvements and, as always, we are looking forward to your valued feedback!
All the best, Your Chasing Carrots
Patch Notes v0.7.2
Cleanup Behaviour
Logistics employees also consider courier pallets as targets for cleanup jobs.
Cleanup jobs are not created for inventory slots without an item reservation anymore.
If an item needs to be cleaned up, but there is no more valid target, the item will get destroyed.
It is the last resort action and should only happen if there is little inventory space on courier pallets left.
[Note] These issues were mainly responsible for automated logistic seeming not to work as the clean-up behaviour did not solve problems as intended. It should now work when loading old save games. You may note that logistic employees may initially become quite active on your courier pallets to make sure your production line works.
Conveyor Belts
Conveyors now propagate reservations through the system, also to connected inventories.
Automatic Storage Segments do now respect reservations on shelves.
The clean-up behaviour won’t take away goods from conveyor setups.
Manual connections should now correctly work with any conveyor part and get served by the logistics employees.
Important! Automated logistics won’t properly handle the transfer between the conveyor system and other parts of the production yet. We kindly ask that you bear with us and do this manually until the next big patch.
Minor Improvements
When an item occupies an inventory slot with a reservation for a different item type, it gets highlighted with a red frame.
Values in logistics slots now represent the actual input/output amounts of crafters and assembly tables.
Outlines are now also rendered in work zone mode.
Entries in the employee list of a courier route now make clear that couriers can only transport four different item types at once.
At the start of a new game, there will be several applicants available for hire, instead of only one.
Applicants will get generated faster and be longer available and thus increase the maximum size of the applicant pool.
Added direction arrows to the Overhead Transport Segments.
Other Bug Fixes
Logistics slots on courier pallets don’t show unnecessary warnings anymore.
Campaign level 2 “Welcome Home” did not appropriately reward the achievement after receiving the first trophy. It should now be the case.
Fixed some crash issues happening while engaging with construction and logistics.
Upgrading tables does not remove logistics connections anymore.
Fixed an issue where couriers would not serve the full amount of slots available on a pallet.
