PvP Info

Attacking players
To attack another player you need to activate your PvP mode (hotkey P). An exception to this rule is attacking a criminal, in which case you'll be able to attack them even without activating the PvP mode. Attacking another player who has PvP mode on will not flag you as a criminal, and will not attract guards. Attacking a player who does not have PvP mode activated will always flag you as a criminal.

Criminals
Attacking a player without PvP mode on will flag you as a criminal, indicated by a white skull above your head. Killing a player without PvP mode will flag you as a murderer, indicated by a skull with red outlines. Your crimes will slowly be cleared over time, or when you are caught by a guard or killed, and sentenced to jail. Murdering twice in a row will flag you as a serial killer, which greatly increases the severity of your crimes, and will result in a longer jail sentence.

Guards
There are guards around the world, who will attack and stun criminals and sentence them to jail. The protection zone of guards is quite large, and whenever you are in a guard's zone, you will receive a "You are now under guard protection" message in your chatbox.

Bounty
If you don't have PvP mode on and if you are killed by another player, you will receive a 15 minute PvP protection, and you have an option to set a bounty on your killer's head. The bounty silver is withdrawn from your bank, and will appear as a red skull with a number above the wanted player's head. If a wanted player dies with a bounty, the silver is added to the killer's inventory and the wanted player will receive a "Humiliation" debuff. The debuff decreases gained experience and loot, and increases damage taken by 25%. The length of the debuff depends on the size of the bounty.

Jail
If you die as a criminal you'll be sentenced to jail to mine iron ore at a greatly reduced experience rate. The length of the sentence depends on the severity of your crimes and the number of previous sentences.

The development team have decided to use following methods to balance the most recent monster experience bug-fix. Below are the guidelines we used:

1. All players have had their combat experience reduced by 50%. This will put all players in line with what they should have been if there were no experience bug.

2. We have added the experience earned since the patch to their appropriate combat experience pools to ensure that no-one felt cheated by the reduction for any time they invested today.

3. Experience for all professions now have a soft cap at level 55. This means that the amount of experience gained will decrease dramatically from level 55 to level cap.

4. Experience for all professions now have a hard cap at level 65. This means no experience will be earned in any given profession after level 65.

We feel that these changes are the best fit for the game and the community at this time. It will allow us to begin testing and balancing PvP. The caps to experience are being introduced to bridge the disparity between the new players and the more seasoned players without penalizing either party for their hard work. - Bandage Self skills across the board have had their cooldowns increased by 2 seconds, from 7 to 9.

- Updated respawn times of gathering nodes, scaling up for higher tiers.

- Removed XP gain on Portal cast

Lag issues

Hi people, a quick update about the unfortunate lag and disconnection issues. We are aware of the problems, and we have been investigating the cause for the last couple of days. Good progress has been made, and we now know the cause and are working to fix it.

Meanwhile we have temporarily disabled PvP and losing items on death until the server is stable again. We apologize for the inconvenience, it is a frustrating situation, but we are working hard to get it fixed.

Early Access is live!

We are happy to announce that GSO is now available on Steam and the server has been reset for a fresh start. Massive thanks to all testers for their valuable feedback (No worries, tester rewards are on their way). We are always looking to improve, so please do share your feedback and ideas, we'd love to hear them. A "report bug" feature can be found in game, but contacting us or posting on the bug channels on Discord (https://discord.gg/mAuEVFb) works as well.
