Weeellp it looks like all there is left to make in terms of environments is the misty bridge and the the labs areas! Oh and that one boss fight screen.
Environments are fun and all, but the next update will be focusing on the first steps into rebuilding the combat system! THAT is where the real fun is at!
So We Don't Get Bored...
While this remake is being worked on, I figured I would send you all a little something to keep boredom at bay!
House of Velez now has it's own store page up here on Steam! This game's navigation features and visual styles are the same kind GP Remake will be using when it is released. October 25th House of Velez will be up for sale!
Think of it as the pacifist sister of Grave Prosperity!

So now we're finally getting into the good stuff! I couldn't help but pull a screenshot from here to compare these two ares (This image is pretty large, so it is easier to see if you open it in a new tab or window)
Each environment is being made to be as faithful as possible to Redux. So far the asylum section is about 75% complete!
The idea right now is to get all the environments created and made functional in-game. After that the combat will be added in. And after that all of the cutscenes will be made.
Things are looking real good for just a few days of work!

Have a look at the interior of the Red Mosquito! No more lo-res jpegs here. It's also good to see the lighting method I experimented with in House of Velez is serving this game well!
I can't wait to get to work on the Asylum section and apply the same techniques!
*An interesting note:
Remember in Redux how most of the frames were pretty small and there would be frequent camera shifts? Well in Remake I have figured out how to make what may have been 3 frames into just one long screen!
I want to say the lower front end of the Red Mosquito was 6 screens long in Redux? Well now it's only 3! And that hallway upstairs where the row of doors was is now all on a singe screen! Having larger areas like these to explore will also give a lot more room during combat, and you won't find yourself accidentally rolling out of the screen and into another area. It also means potential escape from combat could become that much more dangerous too.
-This is to show the scale of that upstairs hallway shown above- (Redux's screens were 640X480)
Grave Prosperity Remake Update! -- 3
Be expecting frequent announcements for this Remake -- Possibly 2 or 3 per week. Work is going to be moving quickly! And so this can be counted as this week's second progress announcement:
Amber's original Redux model has been brought back! Re-texturing and animations for her unarmed walk/run cycles have already been made and imported into the game engine. Some of the original graphics for the HUD have also been brought back as well!
Also, the streets of Prosperity don't have to be made again since it was already done back when I first started working on ideas for the remake!
So with that it's time to bring the good ol Red Mosquito Inn back from the dead! Can't wait to see how the backdrops will look in HD and with all new lighting!
GP Remake Officially Started!
If you saw the video in the last announcement then you already know the chosen rout for Grave Prosperity Remake. It is going to be a direct remake of Redux- just without all the suck!
So to kick things off I have pulled the original model of our favorite pain in the ass enemy, the Scavenger, and did a little cosmetic work on the texturing! Here it is:
This is a very exciting time for me, as I have dreamed of the day I would be able to return to this project and redo it the right way!

Getting Ready For Some Advertising & Updates!
Alright so Grave Prosperity Remake now has a Facebook page! This is still a very new page, but I wanted to go ahead and get one made for the sake of having a place to put periodic updates on the game. As of the moment it has a box image and the plot outlined on it, but that is it. Now that the game has a home everyone can know where to look for new screenshots and character art as they come up!
House of Velez just got its own Facebook page up as well! It is currently in a similar position as far as its development goes. Screenshots and media will begin getting posted there within the next 24 hours. If you're interested in getting an idea of the visual direction GP Remake will take, I'd recommend checking out House of Velez, as that will be the style of navigating the world that GP Remake will be adopting!
Alright so here's a fun little tid-bit of information regarding the Grave Prosperity Remake!
It actually had me laughing a bit when I noticed it...
That theme update from the last post miiight have been a bit of a miscalculation on my part. I wanted to give the game a Native American theme, which would have updated Amber's appearance, the environments and the creatures. The issue, though, was when I stopped to look at the new story and the new theme when they were side-by-side...
I wrote the story for this remake long before I considered making the theme adjustment. Amber's character is a bit of an eccentric and an alcoholic in this version, and these characteristics play a big part in her development and how she interacts with the world around her.
Looking at the big picture I would have ended up with this if I kept the new theme: An alcoholic Native American female in a super skimpy outfit who would likely come off as a pretty racist and misogynistic stereotype character. Not that I normally worry about anything I make offending people, but I mean common.. This would have been too over-the-top.
Sooo yeah... With that, I think I'm gonna reel it back in and keep Amber as her good ol' original self! I can save the Native American theme for another title where it won't get me chased by an angry mob. My cardio isn't what it used to be.. Haha
