Pre-order now available!

Good news everyone, GRID Autosport is now available to pre-order on Steam! It’s been a subject that many of you have talked to us about, our Twitter account has had constant requests while the topic has been popping up with great frequency over on the Steam forums.

We apologise for the delay, but it was with good reason. Our Community is extremely important to us and one thing we’ve wanted to accomplish before going live with them was to make pre-orders reward our past fans. With this in mind the GRID Autosport pre-order offering on Steam will have two parts to it.

The first part is that anyone who pre-orders the game will receive the Black Edition, at no extra cost. Included within the Black Edition is:

  • Exclusive Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Coupé Black Series car
  • Exclusive Black Edition white Ravenwest liveries for Black Edition cars
  • Online premium sponsors
  • 20 extra ‘Black Edition’ online livery patterns
  • 10 new sponsors with objectives

Secondly, anyone who owns GRID 2 will receive 10% off their pre-order. You won’t have to do anything as the discount is applied automatically at the checkout.

Monster Energy Racing

Monster Energy Racing have a high profile presence in Street and Tuner racing, where they have invested heavily in these edgy styles of racing. If you can secure a drive with them in the first tiers of the other driving disciplines, Monster teams are well funded and well equipped, and can propel your career on towards the top ranked teams in those disciplines.

Team Monster are frequently the team pushing Ravenwest all the way to the end in Tuner and Street racing, so you’ll need to prove your talent before getting an offer from them in these racing disciplines.

GRID Autosport // The Story so Far

The fact we announced GRID Autosport over a month ago is a bit of a scary thought but the launch being less than four weeks away is all kinds of exciting (if also a little scary).

One of our core objectives this time around was that we didn’t want to keep anybody in the dark, from day one we’ve been as open and honest as possible, while sharing as much information on the game as we possibly could, “We’re not talking about that yet” isn’t something we like to say all that often.

So while we’ve been busy talking about the game it’s possible that you may have missed something, it’s ok, we don’t hold it against you, the internet is a big place after all. If you have missed anything then you’ve come to the right place.

Here’s the recap of everything we’ve talked about so far!

GRID Autosport // The Story so Far

Focus on Endurance

It’s the dead of night and the illumination of the starting straight fades into the background, track lighting is at a minimum and the headlights from your competitors shine into the night. The brake lights in front appear, a set of red eyes staring your headlights down. Then they vanish. The car in front runs wide and finds itself in the gravel runoff, you’re in first place and now you’re all alone.

Team KICKER

You’ll see Team KICKER place strongly in the more traditional Motorsports of Touring, Endurance and Open Wheel disciplines. They are the team most likely to give Ravenwest a run for their money in these styles of racing, and you’ll need a proven record of success before they’ll make you an offer. If you’re fortunate enough to race for them, they come with great tuning and upgrade options on their vehicles, and can really give you the platform for driver and team standings success.

The Blog has all the info on the team.

How Codemasters teach AI to drive

"The core of any racing game is good handling. You’re simply not going to enjoy driving a car round a track if it doesn’t behave how you expect, if a supercar is slow or a touring car has no grip. But after the handling comes the competition. How do you know you’ve mastered the ins and outs of a BMW M3 unless you can prove it by beating ten other drivers to the finish line?"

We chat with the guys at PCGamesN about AI and how we teach it to drive in GRID Autosport. Full report over on the website

GRID Autosport // Online Racing & Vehicle Progression

Multiplayer, as ever, is a huge focus for us and today we’re going to take a look at what we’re confident is our deepest and most rewarding multiplayer game yet.

To deliver the depth and longevity that we want you to enjoy from the online multiplayer side of the game, we’ve created a separate progression system that is distinct from the Career. However, the structure is similar to what you will find throughout the rest of the game – five Disciplines of racing, each providing a distinct experience, but now with the added challenge of going wheel-to-wheel with other players from around the world.

There are a lot of features that we are excited to tell you about, like Playlists, Custom Cups, RaceNet Challenge and many more, but for the moment we’d like to focus on two important cornerstones that set the scene for the whole of GRID Autosport’s Multiplayer experience – the cars, and the racing.

Online Discipline Progression & Game Modes

Today we’re looking at the online multiplayer side of GRID Autosport. It’s something we’ve invested a huge amount of time in and we think you’ll get a lot out of it.

We want you to have a similar long-game experience as in some of the best online shooters where you’re always progressing, upgrading and building up your experience. But of course, we also have a range of different jump in and race events and options too, whilst RaceNet extends the experience as ever. We’ve listened to a lot of feedback from GRID 2 and we’ve brought in a few new ideas of our own. What we have, without doubt, is the largest and most rewarding online game in a GRID experience yet. So let’s look at a few things in a bit more detail…
