GRID Legends Review Round-Up
GRID Legends, the game for racing thrill-seekers, launched on February. With a blockbuster story mode in Driven to Glory, an entirely overhauled multiplayer, a brand new Career mode, over 120 vehicles from the world of motorsport and so much more, global media were keen to sing the game’s praises. Ahead of launch, media and Creators got hands-on with early versions of the game, showcasing some of the key features GRID Legends has to offer.
December saw them experiencing the game for the first time. In January, we showcased GRID Legends’ thrilling story mode - Driven to Glory - with a detailed gameplay Premiere. Finally, just before launch, the focus switched to Multiplayer which included a look at the game’s revolutionary ‘hop-in’ feature; giving players the opportunity to jump into live races, eliminating the need to wait for races to end before getting in on the action.
Now that GRID Legends has been released - what’s the verdict? Watch our new Accolades trailer below.

Games journalists shared how much they enjoyed their time with GRID Legends, with multiple reviews scoring the game 8/10 or higher. One example was from Game Tyrant, who said that “[GRID Legends] is the racing title we’ve been waiting years for,” before giving the game a score of 8.5/10.
GameGrin shared a similar sentiment; “A return to arcade, a return to the docks, a return to drifting and a return to putting fun above all else. This is what GRID should be about,” scoring the game 9/10.
Eurogamer noted that GRID Legends is “remarkably handsome” and “puts fun above all else.” That word, fun, kept appearing in reviews with Gaming Nexus saying; “...there is a mountain of fun to be had with this rock-solid arcade racer.”
RacingGames.GG said that GRID Legends is an “early contender for 2022’s best racing game,” whereas Hardcore Gamer were keen to put the game above all others in the series by proclaiming that it’s “the best GRID to date.”
Rock Paper Shotgun said that GRID Legends is “The most playable mass-market track racer in years,” and on Driven to Glory, GamePur put it perfectly by saying; “The narrative story not only feels fluid, but it’s easy to understand, regardless of whether you’re an avid racing fan or not.”
If you haven’t given GRID Legends a go for yourself - what are you waiting for? There’s a 10-hour trial available right now for EA Play subscribers and EA Play Pro members can download the full Deluxe Edition.
GRID Legends is out now with more content to come post-launch. You can find out more about the game by heading to the store page.

Codemasters® and Electronic Arts Inc. today delivers GRID™ Legends, an all-action, edge-of-your-seat driving experience that gives players cross-platform multiplayer gameplay, story mode, deep career, and a faster route to connect with friends. Courtesy of the revolutionary hop-in gameplay mechanic, players can now jump to the action in seconds without waiting in lobbies. This function also extends to the expanded Career, with each player rewarded based on their performance. Further innovations include an intuitive Race Creator allowing players to build their ultimate racing match-ups, and ‘Driven to Glory’, an epic motorsport story with players competing for the GRID World Series against a formidable line-up of racing superstars.
GRID Legends revamped in-race chorographer means no race is ever the same. Unique AI driver personalities create unpredictable racing at every turn, so players must expect the unexpected. AI vehicles jostle for position and take risks to stay ahead. The living, breathing world can produce unpredictable moments such as crashes, engine blow-outs or cars flipping in front of you. GRID Legends also takes players to every corner of the globe across the 130 routes at launch, including real-life tracks such as Brands Hatch and Indianapolis, to iconic city circuits like Dubai and London.
Players can now race and upgrade over 100 vehicles at launch, from classic touring cars to big rigs, single-seaters, to electrics and hybrids. The in-game Race Creator allows players to create their dream races with multi-class options, so vehicles such as stadium trucks can compete against compacts on a level playing field. There is also a randomiser button for those who want to get to the action quicker. Once created, players can host events online in private lobbies for friends or open it up to the global community. All multiplayer options feature cross-platform functionality, so friends and players can connect regardless of where they are playing.
‘Driven to Glory’ is a modern documentary-style story mode featuring live footage and driver interviews, on-track sequences and choreographed in-game events. The story follows Driver 22, an unknown on the circuit battling from rookie to GRID World Champion against established teams, including Nathan McKane from Ravenwest. The live content brings players closer to the action and features a diverse cast, including award-winning British actor Ncuti Gatwa.
“GRID Legends is the perfect racing game for friends to come together across all platforms and compete in some of the most iconic cities in the world,” said Mark Green, GRID Senior Development Director at Codemasters. “We have delivered more variety and choice for our players. From Driven to Glory and Career to the Race Creator and hop-in cross-platform multiplayer, there is something here for every type of race fan. We can’t wait to see everyone on the grid.”
GRID Legends is available to buy today.
