Guardians of the Past - Major Update 1.2 - THE BATTLE OF THE BOTS!

Recently, we've been busy with looking at how we can improve Guardians Of The Past and one of the biggest requests that we had while developing it, was that people wanted the ability to play against AI-controlled BOTS! And although it's been a long time in the making, we can confirm that we've done just that! It's been a big task but we have now implemented AI BOTS into all game modes and game types both locally and online! Fill up the empty slots in your lobbies or add one to your team in team mode for that handicap edge over your skilled friends! We have more things planned for Guardians so stay tuned!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Below is a short but sweet list of significant changes that come with the update!

- Added bots to the game.
- Added some music to the Trapopedia and the Lobby.
- Added the ability to change the number of bots that get added.
- Fixed a visual bug in the lobby.

Alpha 4.0! - New Island Arena, New Character and More!

Alpha 4.0! Our next big update is here! That's right, we've been hard at work looking at some of the more intricate parts of GOTP but we have also spent time looking at some of the suggestions from our last public event way back in August.

Update 4.0 Trailer
https://youtu.be/Gk299EvRDnU

Meet Captain Finley!

Finley, the Captain of The Krakens Kurse (His Ship), sails the seven seas in search of treasure and booty to be plundered. Stolen from his time he is now forced to fight against the other chosen ones in a battle to decide once and for all who the ultimate Guardian will be! Hopefully, you guys will have as much fun as we did customising him, sporting some cool tidal tattoos that match his team colour too!

Obviously, those who've been following us and saw the last major content update would have seen this coming, as every Guardian has home turf where in which you guys can battle it out! that being said the last update contained Finleys ship itself as one of his accompanying Levels! as we already have two levels from The Medieval Realm we figured that a second was in order along with Captain Finley himself!

Take the battle ashore with the new Island map!

Complete with cannons and treasure chests, this map features two adjacent islands connected via a "very safe" ropebridge. Be sure to steer clear of the edges as the shark and piranha-infested waters will most definitely be your demise! and if that wasn't enough cannonballs being fired from every angle should do the trick, get hit by one of those guys and you'll almost certainly end up in the drink.

Finally, we'd like to announce a new game mode that you can check out on all of the existing maps as well as the new ones. Sometimes it can get a little tricky when it comes to setting up the battlefield before you crush your enemies in battle, that's why we've now introduced a more streamlined way of playing.

Introducing Brawl Mode!

Brawl Mode is for players who just wanna get down and dirty and battle right away without worrying about setting up the arena! Digi the drone does all the hard work for you! he'll wander around the map as you play, constructing traps in devious places for you to launch each other into. Digi hates crowded tiles so if somebody is in the way that unsuspecting player will be in for a little shock!

Road map for the future!

It's been over a week since the release of 'Guardians' so now is probably the perfect time to outline the plan for the next few months.

Firstly though, we'd like to thank Stumpt for playing and showcasing 'Guardians' and also for some of the fantastic suggestions for improvements. If you haven't already then definitely check out the video below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDd8OAEv7z0

Roadmap

Over the next coming months we will be releasing:

  • Demo version - We want to make your decision to purchase 'Guardians' that much easier, therefore we are releasing a demo version of the game so that you can try before you buy. The demo will be a minimal content version of the game that you can play both online with fellow demo players and locally to give you a taste of the action.

  • Library/HowToPlay - Over the past 12 months, we've worked on trying to make 'Guardians' as easy to pick up as possible. To help further with that, the library will contain all the information you need to help you in your journey to be the ultimate 'Guardian'.

  • Minigun - The Minigun is a new item currently in development. It has a long windup and is widely inaccurate, but it makes up for that with its high fire rate. Be careful of firing it too long as it will become too hot to handle.

  • More characters and maps - Currently in development is our next character 'The Pirate' (Name TBD), he'll arrive alongside his 2nd map 'The Island' a treasure island themed arena.

  • More game modes - We have plans for lots more game modes, one currently in development is called 'Brawl' which forces guardians of fight in a constantly changing arena of traps.

  • Localization - We want to make 'Guardians' as accessible as we can, and that means supporting as many languages as we can. If you'd like to get involved in helping with this then let us know on our discord. (https://discord.gg/U9Dkf98)

We're just putting the final few touches to Alpha 2.2 which contains a bunch of fixes and improvements. It should be with you in the next few days, and then we'll be preparing for Insomnia 63. If you are also attending then be sure to stop by the Indie Zone to see us.

Alpha 2.1 Hotfix

Just a quick patch to fix some issues.

<*>Fixed the countdown timer not replicating its value in the leaderboard screen.
<*>Fixed the leaderboard not displaying properly.
<*>Fixed a visual bug when loading into an arena.
