A Journey's End

This will mark the end of Harvest Island V 2.0 development! I won't be doing V 2.0 Harvest Island since porting to the new engine is a massive task and requires more budget than I realize. After 3 weeks into the development in V 2.0, I needed to seek advice from other devs to see if this was the correct approach and it's not. One of the biggest advice I got was that porting requires a large fan base and you do it when you have it.

Even though V 2.0 is a great idea for the community, it's a horrible decision as of right now for me.

There's just not enough support for V 2.0 unfortunately. My fan base needs to be bigger.

Right now, the community for Harvest Island is extremely small, very niche size. There's not much support in Harvest Island V2.0 after it's been announced. After three weeks of development, I've decided to stick with RPG Maker. And Maybe in the future, I will make a 3D version of Harvest Island instead. A remake. As of now, I'm very happy how this game turned out. It's complete.

Oh! And I added steam achievements! That's the last big update!

Harvest Island is great as it is. it tells a compelling story and succeeds in making you fall in love with the characters. The characters are very well written. There's enough horror in this game to make you feel extremely paranoid. A new experience for gamers.

There are 0 bugs in Harvest Island. I've supported every key aspect in this game and tried my utmost best to make this game as best as it could be with the given tools I have. A lot of people liked Harvest Island. Steamers who played and followers who watch their favorite streamers play, loved the story.

I can't stress enough how great of a game this is in terms of storytelling. A lot has changed since the release and I've listened to every feedback the community has to offer and fixed the problems (With the exception of UI). Current fans are happy with how Harvest Island turned out. And I'm happy they liked the game.

I've supported Harvest Island for 4 months, and I believe it's time to move on to a new project. I will continue to keep this relationship with the community and be upfront with all of the development things I do. I thank you guys for purchasing Harvest Island and I am deeply appreciated for the community support. Along the way, If I have any ideas that'll improve Harvest Island, I'll be sure to update the game and let you know.

I will leave the price of Harvest Island to $15. I truly want people to experience this Horror farming simulator. It's a very must try experience.

And now, I present you my next game I've been developing for three weeks now. It's called, A Journey's End.

I am doing a kickstarter for this project and if you like to support this new game, please follow the project. Here's a sneak peak of what I'm working on.

Harvest Island V2.0 Development Time

Hi!

The Steam Winter Sale has been great and the funding is helping speed up the process of Harvest Island V2.0! I was able to hire a dedicated programmer to speed up the porting to godot quickly! This means that there's a lot more animations and a lot of new features! My plan is to get it by April 29th! This year! Just before the Steam farming festival. That's just in a couple of months! Delays could happen as this is a crazy time frame to finish this all in. $15 is a very good price to buy and wait for that V2.0, and once it's released, it'll be $25.

There are some features that I really want to have but can't due to budget. One is the voice acting for this game. It's so important to have this- to build that emotional story. The sales weren't enough to support this feature and I would need to sell another 2k copies for that to happen. I'm hoping I'm able to do that in the next two months. That's when I'll make a decision to voice act or not.

There's also another option, where the game can have highlighted voice acting. Key moments of the game. It's much cheaper and affordable instead of voice acting all the game's lines. This is something I can do but requires a tiny bit more budget. This is more realistic.

Also porting to the switch/ps5. We will get it out to steam first before porting to the switch.

And finally, please do support the game to help improve the quality of Harvest Island. V2.0 is going to be 10000x time better than V1.0. I will be making dev logs through my youtube account, YobobGames. So you can see the progress being done.

Right now, you can check out the Japanese voice acting!

Harvest Island V2.0 Development

Happy New Year!

Harvest Island will undergo Version 2.0. The game engine Harvest Island uses is called RPG Maker and it is extremely limited in what features I can add to the game.

Players have voiced their problems when playing Harvest Island and it's something I'm having difficult fixing because of the current engine. It is out of my current development power.
-Bad UI
-Grid based movement
-Noi Minimap
-Non traditional farming UI
-Clunky gameplay
This is all inherent based on the engine.
(playing on the controller is a lot better)

So, I will be porting the game from RPG Maker to Godot. This will allow the game to be extremely smooth to run with added features. Like watering in a 5x5 space with a charge effect.
Features that I plan to add with this new powerful engine.
-Porting to ps5 and switch
-Overhaul UI
-Overhaul Character Movements
-Overhaul Game Mechanics
-Better performance
-Voice acting Jap & Eng
-Traditional farming UI elements and features
-More Animations/higher framed animations
-And more game mechanic features

But this will be a side project for me. So expect development time to be 1-2 years or so (Could be more). The reason is I have to remake this entire game in a new engine. And that takes serious time. I'm also going to be working on a new game, so this V 2.0 is going to really be a side project.

Harvest Island will drop in base price from $25 to $15 for Harvest Island V 1.0. Once V2.0 comes out, the price will jump back up to $25. Price take effect after the Winter Sale. So, getting the game now during the winter sale is a very great deal, especially if you want to try it. And also purchases will help fund 2.0. If more sales happen, then the development time will become shorter as I will prioritize getting V 2.0 out.

The reason I'm dropping the price is because it might be too expensive to a lot of people for this indie game. And I just want people to play the game and enjoy the storyline. I can't stress enough how great the story is.

Because the game will drop in price to $15, some of you who bought the game before the base price might be a little upset and could've waited another 3 months in buying Harvest Island. But! Your early purchased really helped the game out a lot. You guys are the sole contributors that helped Harvest Island be better than when it was first released. I was able to add a lot more content to the game because of that extra funding. I was able to add that Extended ending and commission a few more illustration for a proper ending. I was also able to add a Story B to the game to help bring more tension to the early parts of the game, and I was able to add more content, specifically more horror content to the game. And many many bug fixes as well! I sincerely thank those early contributors. Those early purchases helped elevate Harvest Island to a new level of polish.

It's very worth the game to try and to experience the main story line. And! Leave a review if you liked the game!
