Harvested - April Update

March 20th, 2021 was a big day for Vashta Entertainment. We were excited to launch our baby of 7.5 years into the world, but we were also terrified. What if everyone hated it? Or worse - what if no one downloaded it? For weeks, we'd been scared that the day would come, four people would buy it, and it would be silently forgotten.

We're happy to say that is NOT what happened. Sales have been modest, but they have WELL exceeded our expectations. We've also received some great feedback from the community and, as promised, we plan to improve the game based on it!

In early April we plan to release our first post-launch game update (other than bug fixes!). Here is what you can expect.

One thing we've been hearing a lot is that the voice acting in some places is subpar. We are aware of this fact. To be fully transparent, the reason for this is is that we exceeded our budget. We wanted to pay for better voice acting, but at a certain point we had to choose between graphics and voice acting - and we chose graphics.

Fortunately, because of fantastic launch week, we have more money to put into this game! And we plan on using this money to address glaring issues in the game and ensure we are delivering the product we imagined!

Improvements in voice acting will likely be an on-going process, but expect the first bits replaced in early April.

We've also heard a few complaints that go hand in hand - that the character moves too slow, the character is too small, and the game pace is too slow. So we have two game features we'd like to add to address this.

Zooming In

In April, Harvested will gain the ability to zoom in and out of the map, giving you control over how close you want to be to the player character!

Adjusting Game Speed

We will add controls to easily speed up (and then slow back down) the game. This will ensure players can play at whatever pace they want!

Our community has caught a few issues in the main menu that we'd like to address. First, we are going to add a "Load Game" submenu. This was an oversight, and we apologize. Similarly, we realized the Chapter Selection submenu is missing a back button. We plan on adding that as well.

Harvested launched with 18 story missions and 9 survival maps - but we're not done! In April we will be adding a new survival map. You can expect more to be added in the future.

Thank you everyone for making our launch week so special. We read EVERY comment, direct message, discussion, etc and regularly look for fan-made content on YouTube. If you want us to know something, PLEASE reach out. Your feedback means everything to us!

Stay tuned. This is just the beginning :-)

- Vashta Entertainment

Patch 1.1.0.3

Patch 1.1.0.2

- Unlocked all Survival missions
- Fixed bug that caused some games to crash upon loading saved games

1.1.0.1

- Fixed issue with repair turrets crashing the game
- Added 2560x1440 to the resolution list in settings

Harvested - FULL RELEASE Out Now!

Well, what can we say? It took a two person team 7.5 years to get here, but the full version of Harvested is out now! This update brings three new story missions, an epilogue, and improvements throughout the campaign!

Check out our launch trailer below!

We hope you enjoy it. It's been a long road, and we're proud of this weird real time strategy/top down shooter game we built.

What's next? We still have MacOS and Linux versions to distribute, and we'll be announcing our next game later this year. Expect updates to Harvested for the near future to be bug fixes.

We plan to support this game as long as there is interest! Please tell us what you like, what you don't like, and what you want more of! We're listening :-)

Enjoy your time on Ceres. And follow us for more Harvested updates!

Harvested Story Chapter 5

Last night, we completed the first release candidate for Harvested. It was an emotional moment after 7.5 years of development. We still have some tweaks we will make as we approach our March 20th release date, but we are very close and can't wait to release this game as a finished product.

Today we'll be sharing a rundown of the final three missions of Harvested which will release with the full game on March 20th. These missions bring our campaign to 18 missions and well over 25 hours of gameplay - something we are very proud of!

These final missions are more linear than previous chapters. They are as much top-down shooter as they are strategy. They are shorter in length, but more action-heavy. We think this is a great way to conclude our weird hybrid and hope you enjoy our execution!

Be warned: story spoilers ahead!

The Belly Of The Beast

This mission begins with the player and their companions arriving in the Demon spaceship. There is one location in this mission where the player can optionally rest and establish a base, but some players may choose to fight through to the end top-down shooter style!

This mission tests your combat skills, and your ability to work with limited resources to survive an intense fight!

The Garden Of The Gods

This mission is also fairly linear, with the player fighting along a path in an artificial forest, destroying towers at three heavily-defended locations. However, this is not one you can easily shoot your way through. The enemy will be sending endless waves down the path to resist you, and you must establish bases where possible to strengthen your forces before assaulting the final enemy base!

The End

What else were we going to call it?

This epic final mission gives you a lot of resources and a location to defend. You must survive for four days fighting wave after wave of demon and loyalist multis! There is limited opportunity to gather resources, so you will have to be careful with how you choose to spend what you have.

Harvested Leaves Early Access 3.20.21!

We're thrilled to announce that Harvested will be launching out of early access on March 20th, 2021! This update brings 3 new story missions, a proper campaign progression lock, and minor changes throughout.

At first, Harvested will only be available for Windows, but once we have stabilized in on Windows we plan to release it for Mac and Linux as well. Please note that the M1 chip included in new Macs is a wildcard we could not account for when we promised cross-platform support, and are not able to promise M1 support at this time.

We are proud of our early access journey. In the past 1.5 years we've added 14 new missions (in addition to the 4 story missions and 8 survival maps that launched with the first release), added new buildings, improved game systems, and polished our existing content based on user feedback. We thank everyone who helped us along this amazing journey!

In the coming weeks, we'll be sharing some additional information about the full release! We're really excited. Please let us know your thoughts in the comments, and follow us for everything Harvested!

New Missions

Chapter 4, Mission 1 - The Desert

Build and defend a camp while you gather enough resources to make the long journey across the desert. Resources are sparse. Cover is hard to find. You will need to manage a tight base as you defend yourself on all sides from the Demon onslaught!

Chapter 4, Mission 2 - The Oasis

Build a base and raise an army powerful enough to destroy the two Multis bases guarding precious oasis. Will you maintain a small, easily-defended base or sprawl out to take advantage of the choke points?

Chapter 4, Mission 3 - The Ascension

Rebuild a portal to assault the Demon ship. It will take days to rebuild the portal. In the mean time, you will need to repair the defenses of an old city. The demons know you are up to something - be ready for them to give you everything they've got!

What's Next?
We're excited that our next major Harvested update will bring our campaign to its epic conclusion and, more importantly, launch Harvested out of early access and into full release! We expect this to come in Spring 2021. We will continue to support the game as long as there is interest. Additionally, keep your eyes open for a big announcement in Summer 2021 about our next game!
