I wanted to talk a little bit about modding. We recently experimented with allowing players to change where decks can be placed. We want to hear your thoughts on if it's something you are interested in.
On another note, I am currently working on boathouse, which lets you do free form building and decoration. You will also be able to use it to sail on expeditions.
To expand a little bit more on modding, there are a few mods players already made unofficially. We would like to see if there is something you want, and if we can offer more support to mod creators if of interest. https://www.nexusmods.com/havendock/
And here are some additional ideas that I think might be interesting to officially support in modding:
Create your own buildings, items (import your own designs or we can also provide a library of designs (e.g. 3d models, icons) based on your wants)
Create your own islands and buildable areas (share it with others and allow visiting)
Create your own item recipes (e.g. new/alternate ways to produce steel)
Create your own research or modify them. Add your own unlockables in the tech tree
Create your own settlers (Some ideas centered around this are creating your own dialogues, creating your own AI that allows for more interaction, creating new types of settlers that don't necessarily work or need to meet needs, or do work in a different way, create characters that are "online" and allow players to talk to each other, AI NPCs that you can actually chat with, they can reply and have moods and emotions)
Add your character customizations (e.g. clothing, accessories, hair, skin color, non-human)
Automation (this is vague and could mean anything, but has the possibility to add depth and new dimension of experiencing the game depending on how it's done)
Vertical building (e.g. multiple storeys)
So I would like to know if anything is of interest, or if you have any ideas or anything really. I would love to hear any thoughts at all!
Anyhow, if you would like to know a little bit more about boathouse, here's a small preview, and I will share more in another announcement.

I wanted to let you know what I've been working on and give you a preview of what is coming up next. I'm happy to share a sneak peek into the new Wizard Island! 🧙♂️
A new resource, Mana, can be generated with the right buildings ✨ There will be new things to build and manage on the Wizard Island!
There are different spells to learn, each with their own effects 🔮 You can choose to cast spells to boost yourself, your settlers, or your buildings. With enough structures, some spells can even be autocast passively!
You can choose your favourite spells to upgrade, granting you new ways to boost your settlement's productivity 🚀
Speaking of spells, you might even be able to make your settlers work without needing food or water! It may come at a cost though... 💀
Also just for fun, you will be able to build statues of yourself 👑 Depending on how well you treat your settlers, they'll either want to worship you or call you mean names.
After some more work is put into it, I will be releasing Wizard Island into the experimental branch. You can then try it out and share your feedback on Discord!
One last thing! Here's a little teaser of a new island, tentatively called Moon Island, which I'm aiming to release sometime this month to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival 🥮
