Small update: Deck viewer, and a couple of new cards
Earlier today, I published a new build with a few more cards for the Storm planet. These still do not have artwork on them.
There's also a new deck viewer. If you click the gear in the top left corner and then click "Deck", you'll be able to see all the cards that are currently in your deck. You can access this whenever, for example while you are on the map. I might later update this to also show your tech and other stats.
Hotfixes
- "Weakener" should now correctly multiply attack values by 0.85, instead of multiply by 85. (ouch) - In the demo, combine/upgrade buttons should no longer be broken - Difficulty descriptions and effects should now be correct
Rebalance Update
One week has passed since the EA started, and the audience's response has been very positive! Thank you all very much.
Based on community feedback on Discord and the community hub, as well as my own opinions and design ideas, I am releasing a rebalancing patch today.
People seem to agree that Radioactive's early game is too weak, so it is getting a wide range of buffs. The difficulties have been adjusted to have less difference from one setting to the next. Difficulty now goes up to 9.
- Radioactive gets buffs, and a new healing card - Storm get buffs, and a couple of new cards - Difficulties become more granular, and difficulty now goes up to 9 - Many enemies have been tweaked
Future Plans
These items are being worked on. I cannot guarantee when/whether they will be finished, this is just giving you a rough estimate of where my primary focus will be in the next few weeks. - I want to do a patch which introduces more enemy types. These will introduce some new mechanics. - I want to add a "deck view" which can be viewed from anywhere, such as when you are at a low threat level - I want to add a new type of ability for each planet, which uses a different resource than energy. - I want to add more cards to 'Storm', as it currently has the fewest cards. I'm not sure how I feel about the "Auto" mechanic, because it might just devolve into "pick everything that says auto" when you're at a certain point.
Today's patch: Tips and tricks section, UI improvements
- Added a "Tips and tricks" section to the main menu. - Various other UI improvements - Fixed an issue where Luck would not reset to 0 when the game is won or lost.
Evening patch: UI improvements, little bit of balance
Patch notes:
- I improvements and fixes have been added, based on what I saw during Wanderbot's twitch stream earlier today. More will likely come. - The 3rd boss had an attack which would grow significantly stronger as the combat progressed. It has been nerfed from +3 per turn to +2 per turn, but starts at 5*5 damage instead of 4*5. - It is no longer possible to turn off "Additional Tooltips". This setting is excessive and confusing, so I'm removing it for now. - "Instant animations" will now be just really fast, instead of all instant. I decided to make this change because of how jarring it looks when everything happens at the same time. I might make this a dropdown selection in the future, with the option "normal / fast / instant", because some people might like to speedrun.
Advice for beginners: Turn on 'Additional Tooltips' in the options
After watching Wanderbot's stream today, I noticed that the 'Additional Tooltips' are turned off by default! Make sure to turn them on if you haven't learned all the keywords yet.
A number of people have complained about certain keywords not being explained. I was a bit confused about this, until I watched Wanderbot's stream today, where I noticed the issue... (Great stream by the way, check him out on Twitch or Youtube!)
This issue will be fixed in a patch which I am releasing soon. (Soon, as in, 30 minutes or so)
There is also a bug where if a card is creating another card, it will not properly display the card which will be created. This seems to be a bug only on windows, as far as I can tell.
Various small changes
Design changes: - Added a new upgrade card called "Ter" - Some cards of the Radioactive planet have been altered. Overall the planet's early-game is getting better and some OP late-game strategies are nerfed. - I will be replacing the word 'launch' with 'create'. I think this will make more sense to most people. "Create satellites" instead of "Launch satellites". I also considered the word "Summon", but that feels too fantasy-like.
- The rebrand, as well as a press kit, will be available.
Bugfixes: - Fixed an issue which would cause Radioactivity to permanently stop decaying after playing certain cards - The debuff applied by the final boss is now correctly marked as a debuff. - Removed the outdated 'about' section, replaced it with a Discord link - Fixed buffs to Luck being internally seen as a debuff instead of a buff
Known bugs: - One user found that higher difficulties would unlock without them winning the game. I've not been able to reproduce this bug, I will be investigating. - There is some visual artifacting when I play on very high framerates (300+) in the editor. This is an annoying bug because visuals change from the editor-version or the Steam-version. This is likely related to floating point rounding errors in a part of the Unity engine which I do not have access to. For now, if you experience this bug, you can set the framerate to a reasonable maximum, or set postprocessing to "med" or "low". - I have covid. I'm doing OK though, it's not too bad for me
Quick fix: Difficulty Unlocks
- Fixed an issue where higher difficulties did not unlock. You should now have access to the high difficulties, which are significantly more challenging. - Some buffs were given to the Radioactive planet's starting deck. Its basic weapon deals 1 more damage, and its "Raster" ability gives +2 more shield. The composition of its starting deck is also improved, now starting with 2 "Shieldlet" instead of 3, and with +1 more Raster and Extern.
Hotfix
1. Fixed a bug where the 'Piercer' enemy could not be targetted. I'm a little bit surprised that nobody reported this bug. I guess this enemy is pretty rare. Either way, it's fixed now.
2. The tooltip of the "Massive Storm" tech would display outdated information. The formatting in this tooltip is still a little bit jumbled, this will be fixed on the next patch.
Patch notes & rebrand sneak peek
These are patch notes for the past 2 uploaded builds.
Fixes and improvements:
- Resolved an issue where there could be duplicated dropdown options - If there are still more than 10 options, a scrollbar will now appear. - Fixed an issue where 'grand mystery' and 'superb mystery' had the same name - Fixed an issue where cards that create other cards (such as 'Deregulate') would not show a preview of the created card when you are selecting rewards. - 'copycat', when stealing an attack that hits multiple times, should now copy the number of repetitions correctly. - It should no longer be possible to get stuck on the starmap. There will always be at least one star that you can travel to.
Gameplay:
- The "mystery" upgrades (Mystery, Grand Mystery, Superb Mystery) will now also affect the number of repetitions on satellites' attacks. - An info-bubble/tooltip has been added to the 'mystery' upgrades. Tip: "Mystery" upgrades can affect a large number of things, for example the number of cards drawn, the amount of energy gain, healing, the number of ticks on a status effect, and much more. - Satellites far away from the planet will drift back into place faster.
Rebrand:
I've been working on a better logo. Because let's be real, the current one... Is pretty bad, I think. Of course, rebranding right after release is not the best idea ever, but I wanna so I'm gonna lmao.
Along with the rebrand, I will be putting together a press kit.
