New year new update!

Ringing in 2026 - the year I really and truly hope to leave early access - with a new update!

The 0.8.x set of updates will continue for a while, but not that much longer I hope. My goal before moving on to the 0.9.x updates is to make sure all features are working as intended, fix all known major bugs and basically have the game work as intended.

Let me know what you think of the new save game layout - it's meant to be easier to use with lots of save games.

Version 0.8.7 includes:

  • Update save and load game dialog
  • Fix issue with pressing the move key when stance selection is open
  • Mouse look turning now acts as a normal move
  • Minor dungeon art tweaks
  • Character portrait customization now has proper names

Version 0.8.6 is now out

Another round of bug fixes, huge shout out to everyone who's been submitting bug reports in game or on the forums. I've been working my way through the back log of reported bug, so expect a few more bug fix updates over the next few weeks. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up this weekly update cadence, but I'll try!

Perks and more

Version 0.8.5 is now out, this update adds over 30 new hero starting traits that give each hero a bit more background and even some small bonuses. Also added are "moments" - events in a hero's history added when they participate in special quests or in-game events.

One more round of fixes...

I was going to wait until I had the next half-finished feature completed - in this case the hero origin stories and associated bonuses - but in the meantime ended up with enough fixes that it seemed worth pushing a release. I also want to try and keep semi-regular updates even if no major features are completed.

There's nothing major in this release - just a set of fixes and minor improvements - but still another step forward to completion.

The next release should round out the hero creation stories. After that will be hero moments - special perks earned by heroes during their adventures, like completing dungeons or quests.

Finally a big thank you for everyone who has been filing bugs and providing feedback!

  • Prevent clicking on movement buttons interacting with the world
  • Fix for cloth physics settings not always applying properly
  • Fix issue where dungeon map would not show exit/entrance

  • Fix a dungeon generation that could break dungeon loading

Maps and more

Another step forwards - this update brings fixes for some long standing bugs (missing heads!) as wells as some improvements to the dungeon mapping by adding cauldrons and treasure. Anvils should now also always be an upgrade to equipment, not a re-mix of existing items.

Version 0.8.3:

  • Building info screen has more details
  • Fix the occasional headless portrait
  • Tweak Next Town zoom speed
  • Anvil, cauldron and treasure now show up on the dungeon map
  • Fix for cauldron and other object that reset after load/re-enter
  • Anvil upgrades equipment material rather than regenerating

Building overview and more!

[p]The latest update brings a long overdue and much requested feature: A building overview screen. This screen shows all the upgrades, additions and even the details about the jobs that can be trained, all in one screen. Another round of fixes

This update is only a minor number bump, but it has a number of fixes that people have been reporting recently. Hopefully this makes the game more stable for everyone.

Version 0.8.1.4:

  • 64-bit executable
  • Fix issue with stun effects freezing battles
  • Fix potential save game corruption if cloud save fails
  • Option to disable cloth physics
  • Fix items usage on world map freezing
  • Disable fast dungeon saves
  • Added bug report tool to combat screen

Some more small fixes

Some people reported save game issues, and I think I haven't fixed them all there were a few bugs to fix.

Version 0.8.1.3 brings:

  • Fix issue with save games not saving properly on larger worlds
  • Fix issue when loading older save game from within a dungeon
  • Reduce save game size ~25%

Just some quick fixes

A few minor issues were reported after 0.8.1 dropped, and now they're fixed! Thanks to everyone reporting these issues!

Version 0.8.1.2 should fix:

  • Fix issue with bard songs not working
  • Fix issue with some keyboard shortcuts


Version 0.8.1.1 fixes:

New world to explore!

Version 0.8.1 brings a new terrain - the badlands!

While is mostly a visual variation, it should add some variation to the worlds you explore. This patch also cleans up some of the world audio, giving new ambient sounds to each dungeon and world location, removing the repetitive music. Finally you'll probably notice the launcher is gone, resolution can now be adjusted from withing the game settings.

I think this patch not only makes the game more playable, but a number of these fixes help make the game appear a little bit more professional.

Now that summer is over I hope to continue with more frequent updates as well.
